imho from a legal stand point, I think its a good idea to file the AOS as soon as possible, that way your now wife or husband can have more freedom, contribute if she/he wants, as well as being able to prove her/his legal right to be here, even if it is a 2 year card. And with the immigration laws & fees changing the way they do, who knows what will be next. Just my opinion
However, congratulations to anyone that is able to recieve their 10 year card !

hmmm, now after reading the fee schedule again - dated July 2007 - I see there appears to be a seperate fee for the I-765 ($340), I thought it was ALL inclusive ($1,010 for the I485/I765/I131)
I hope this can be placed to rest - soooooon - I also read here at VJ that it was ALL inclusive when you file for the AOS.

wow.....looks like another 'additional' fee now for the I-131 (document is dated to 2009) I wonder if this will effect any that have already filed our AOS ?? OMB No. 1615-0013; Expires 02/28/09

This is what we have received recently (online): The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office.
So, is this still in CSC? This is where it was sent to.
Yes... and it will be sitting there until such time that they either approve it or send it back to your local office. Most likely your GC will get approved without the interview. Mine took less than a month from the time it was transferred till it got approved. Keep your fingers crossed!

thank you so much.....have a blessed day

Hello Beng & Carl, close to the bottom of the biometric appointment document does it show aos/ead case numbers with lllllllllllll the bar codes below the case numbers? This is how we received ours ...not saying that this is normal, just trying to shed some light. Our appointment indicated both is all.

It is to be sent to the Chicago Lock Box:
* Applicants are required to mail applications to a national mailbox (Chicago) as stated on the form (not your local USCIS office). The only case in which you may file at a local office is for the following locations: Dallas District Office, El Paso District Office, and the Oklahoma City Sub Office. Please read this notice if your local USCIS office is any of these locations.
Be sure to mail the package with return receipt requested / delivery confirmation. Send via USPS

nope...you dont have to have another exam if you already had your exam before you arrived here in the usa, which i think you have to have in order to be able to get your visa. however, there may (may) be another shot or two you will have to get.
i'm sure someone else can explain this better than myself, and info in the guides that are usefull and explain this.

6 total passport style photos is what we submitted with our aos.

We can at this point confirm that it appears 'after biometric appointment' is when the cases will be available online. No AP yet, but maybe this is the procedure at this point.

We sent in last part of May '08 our AOS to Chicago, arrived & signed June 3rd. Then we were sent shortly after our NOA's for all three documents, then shortly after the Biometrics appointment letter for I485 & EAD set for July 2nd (travel document & ead are still at MSC or NBC in Missouri). There is still nothing available for the travel document online.
July 3rd, AOS (I485) was transfered to CSC and touched July 7th. Thats all we know at this point ....

Most employment applications now, if not all, have an area that states 'are you legally allowed to work in the usa'. And you will have to show document proof that you are legally allowed. And any employer would be fined big bucks if they were to hire someone that is not legally allowed to work, if found out.

Good luck, by the way!

We filed initially for K1 and now AOS. Had the biometric on July 2nd and then on July 3rd I485 was sent to CSC. Pretty quick so far it seems (not complaining though).
