I used the formula based on specific months.
 
But the logic should be:
 
- If on average, each month has 3000 filers, 136.36 files should be approved daily to avoid backlog

That depends a lot, but ideally they should process one month of filing in one calendar month. This to avoid backlog. That means, considering 22 business days:
 
If month has 2500 filers:
2500/22=113.64 files a day
 
If month has 3000 filers:
-3000/22=136.36 files a day
 
If a month has 4000 filers:
-4000/22=181.81 files a day.
 
If they want to reduce backlog, they have to process more than this average.
 
Anything less than that will increase the backlog and processing time.
 
Of course this is estimation and average. Total number should discard initial denials due to formal aspects (wrong form, missing info on the form, incorrect fee paid, etc..). Also RFEs increase workload, as the Officers will have to revisit. Almost wonder like this number should not include RFEs, only approvals.

As a March filer that submitted the petition 4 days after you and is still waiting for my case to be touched, I can't really share the optimism. Some days we try to be realists, others I can't avoid extreme pessimism, but what is happening to the remaining March filers (still more than 400 cases untouched) is just a nightmare. So, all things considering we have gone through the Afghan crisis and are now seeing the Ukrainian ones, while watching our friends in April get approved at a faster rate than us. Don't get me wrong, I'm always happy for every couple approved, always, but for us, it is painful and dreadful.
 
I do hope it gets better, seriously do, but until I can see that in the numbers, it is just hope, not any type of conviction.

To be fair, the first 6 weeks of "real" March processing, 4 of those weeks were below 100. I'm not expecting, 80 to 100 a day anytime soon. Even for the whole March processing, only about 4 days there was an above 80 files processed.

Exactly. That was my interpretation of the press release. They acknowledge the plan, say they have an action plan, and any complaint they just point to it, saying they have an action plan, allowing them in fairness to not do anything, and if things are still the same end of next year, they just issue a new one.

Yes, I have said that in the past, like February or so, and at that time I was kind of laughed off. Now I feel a lot of people see it as more realistic.
 
Also, their press release. The way it is done, the processing time will keep increasing until then, and at the time they will set up a new deadline. That type of press release is typical of organizations that have no action plan, no solution, and I feel it will stay that way. And I don't want to be the downer, but my approach is that I prefer to have information and bad news, than to be hopeful and in the dark. It will get to 2 years, and it will probably be this year.
 
I'm a March filer approaching a 13 month wait, and hell, at this point I just don't know. Our plans were to legally marry and then have a ceremony in Portugal. Initially we thought about the ceremony this year, and fortunately we changed it to 2023. Now, with the Visa situation, 2023 is on the way of not being realistic anymore, if we consider the advance parole, etc.
 
It is so bad because we planned ahead for what we thought was a significantly delay, but even that is most likely to be very insuficient.

This grouping of 500 is because the tool we use to track only does searches of 500 cases at a time.
 
Each 500 block has different types of visas & forms, but here we only report on K1s (I-129F).

It is not K1 visas only, its a mixture of other types. I'm not sure which but at least 7-8. There are roughly, ~3,000-~4,000 I-129F applications filed for each month.
