I'm mostly keeping a close eye on Japan's border policies because it seems like they'll probably open up before my visa moves past "Received", so if they do then I will likely fly over there so we can spend time together while we wait. Would also be ideal to help with packing/preparation and such.

My fiance is also from Japan and I would love to go back this year. I had no idea they were planning to open up soon though.

  2. I did. This was their response...

The status of this service request is:

On 12/04/2021, you or your representative contacted USCIS concerning your I-129F to notify us that you believe your case is outside of our normal processing time. Below is a summary of what we found and how the issue has been or may be resolved.

The processing of your I-129F is within our current processing time. Please see our Web site at www.uscis.gov for processing times.

We hope this information is helpful and appreciate your continued patience.

Hi @gjd2017! So good to talk to to another April 5 filer:) I sometimes feel like I'm all alone in this boat. Your fiancé is from Japan? I spent 6 months in Tokyo! Can I ask where you get your February time frame? It seems like March folks are getting reviewed now. Don't you think that puts us in the beginning January category?

You are definitely not alone!! Yes, he lives in Tokyo too. That's so cool! I was also living there for awhile and recently moved back home.

Even though they have started March filers, the number of working days this month is shorter because they will have their holiday break. This pushes most of March to be approved in January. Leaving us, February, maybe even March. But we are on the earlier end so once they get towards the end of March, we can anticipate it to be soon for us.

Hi Friends! I am an April 5 filer but thought I would come over here to see if I can get some answers.

I am a 33 (f) waiting to bring my 34 (m) Fiancé from Tanzania to Washington, DC. on the K1. I received my NOA1 on April 5, 2021. Has anyone from late March- early April received word? Also does anyone think working with an attorney speeds things up? I self filed but was very thorough. I have submitted an inquiry, and still nothing. I am outside of the timelines on the website.

I am a Department of Homeland Security employee (not USCIS). Think I can leverage this somehow? I also have a contact (foreign service officer) at the U.S. embassy in Dar es Salaam where he will have his interview. I'm traveling to Tanzania over the holidays. You think there is anything I can do?? Willing to try ANYTHING at this point.

Also does anyone know how long from NOA 2 to interview for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania? reading this forum is making me depressed :(

Aww, so nice that you posted a photo! I am also an April 5 NOA1 filer! Very unfortunately, I don't expect that we will get a reply about our application until mid or late February.

As for your other questions, I am really not sure. However, I imagine that talking to a lawyer would not speed it up. I think talking to your state's congressperson is the best you can do.

I also sent an inquiry. So we just need to wait, stay busy, and hope for the best when our time comes. I'm really getting the understanding that undertaking this (applying for a visa for someone to live in the US) is a long and challenging process. A lot of people get depressed or compare their timeline to others who sporadically get approved, etc. More seasoned individuals who have gone through this seem to understand better that it's a waiting game, so just take it easy and wait. At least, that's the philosophy I am taking since we really don't have any control over it. While the USCIS is moving SLOWLY, the important thing is that cases are being processed, so I chose to celebrate that fact and wait for my time. But, I do have my days too.

Don't worry.  My lawyer sent an email today that said USCIS is processing K1's received on March 26, so my case should be processed soon :)  Yours will be processed soon too :)

Yes, that is what I thought! But so many people say that April fillers wont receive it until after the New Year since the USCIS is behind on March applications. What do you think?
Can you share when yours is processed?

    Hello Friends!

I understand the anxiety level is high, considering that the holidays are coming and makes us more emotionally unstable as we miss our love ones so much and would love to spend the holidays with them.  Few weeks ago, I was so anxious to a point of losing hope, but I noticed that I was so focused on checking my case and getting anxious about when we're going to get the approval, I become irritable and my fiancé noticed it and sometimes the unfortunate receiving end of the negative behavior.  Although, it's hard, but I have to change, otherwise, the relationship will be at stake.

I'm not saying I am all good, but I agreed to what @CJPinEcuador said... to lower my expectation, but at the same, I am hopeful that it will come soon.  Just hang in there friends!  Before you know it, it will come.  I'm hoping that we will all get our approvals soon.

    Happy Thanksgiving all! 😊

That's really kind of you to say and great to encourage each other. Thank you

The forever optimist in me hopes so, but based on the very slow forward progression in the last few weeks the realist in me doesn’t want to keep my hopes too high lest it leads to a crummy New Year’s Eve and day when we are still without our NOA2 and starting the new year with absolutely no idea when we’ll be together again.

So, I hope so!!!! But I’m keeping my expectations low. If it happens before 2022, I’ll consider it a wonderful turn of events!

wow, i had no idea. in shock.. thanks for replying *cries in the corner*

    Hi All,

So I ran our numbers today since we are about mid month for an update and unsurprisingly (based on Feb and March forums) there has been almost no movement. I won't post the whole chart, but the totals are included. Idk what has happened to our adjudicators, but once they hit the last week in February they completely came to a halt based on reports from others and the case tracker data. Besides a few random cases, it appears March has not really heard anything either, and as of today the USCIS page has March 17th listed as the received date for inquiry, so our cases being decided before the end of the year becomes more of a pipe dream each and every day.

This week is our last full week of November as next week is Thanksgiving and most government offices have 1-2 days off for everyone (it is also a common time for people to take the whole week off if they need to run out their vacation days if they are over the carry over amount for the year) and the week after is the start of December.

My new hope at this point: we see movement in March before the end of the year and once again have some sort of idea of our wait time. It's heart breaking to imagine the holidays without the person we are waiting to marry and I hope we all have some hope restored and see some movement as we start 2022 (I know, very sappy, but the recent stop in activity has been an added emotional toll lately).

I'll run full numbers again in 2 weeks.
