Newark NJ, no I interview appointment yet. Still waiting patiently.
✅ No pending i751

❌ Interview date -
❌ Oath ceremony -
Thanks. Unless you're odd-ball, which I hope you're not, I would be checking the online account "document" section pretty often now. It appears that interviews in Newark/NYC are are being sheduled about 13.5/14 months from filing date, with interview NOTICE being sent about 5 weeks prior. For you, it means you should be getting that notice 1st (worst case 2nd week of March).

According to my GUESStimates, by now, most if not all February 2020 Newark,NJ filers should have recently received interview date notice... can anyone confirm?

Hello everyone!
So, I had my interview this morning in Newark. Everything went smooth and without any issue. I answered everything correctly and I signed the forms as directed, the whole interview took like 10-15 min. Everything was great until the officer gave me the N-652 form saying that I passed the test but with a check on "A decision cannot be made yet about your application". The officer said that the system was down 🤯¿?, so she couldn't recommended me for approval just yet, that I will have to wait to get another notification for the oath ceremony.
I'm very disappointed and sad 😞, I was hoping to become a citizen today, I have being waiting so long for this. I hope my application does not go to the limbo now. Has anyone had any experience with this?
can you share your N-400 timeline with everyone? when did you file?

I filed in May 2020..and today my estimate increased by a month.. from September 2021 to October.2021.what a tease
I see many times people continue to share their timelines on forums (great!), but do NOT fill this information in their profile.
In your Profile, under My Timeline, under "add comment to Timeline" there is a window for N-400 data. Filing this out will allow people to click on your Timeline next to your pic/avatar and view your time path.
MORE importantly, this data will appear in dedicated N-400 Timline on this portal for everyone to compare. LET'S HELP OTHERS TO SEE / COMPARE THE PROGRESS (not just respond to individual ppl in threds)
Here it is filtered for Newark NJ filers: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/citlist.php?cfl=0&op1=3&op2=&op3=&op4=2&op5=&op6=All&op7=Newark NJ

Agree ... I also got the same update and letter for bio reuse on feb 12. I filed on 9/9/20. Estimate was may-21 initially then changed to July-21 and now it says June-21..
If you filed in Sept 2020 in Newark then your interview is ballpark Nov 2021. (BTW, it appears you haven't updated your N400 Timeline).
I'm guesstimating myself (based on other people timelines) for May/June 2021 interview, and I filed 6 month before you in March 2020. Interview notifications appear to be sent about 6 weeks before the date.
DO NOT pay ANY attention to "estimates" in your account as they are reported to be widely fluctuating without ANY rhyme or reason (outdated logarithm, I'm guessing). My account "estimate", after multiple changes simply... disappeared. That's when you know you are getting close LOL!

USCIS Reverts to the 2008 Version of the Naturalization Civics Test
Release Date02/22/2021WASHINGTON— U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced today it is reverting to the 2008 version of the naturalization civics test beginning March 1, 2021.
Applicants who filed their application for naturalization on or after Dec. 1, 2020, and before March 1, 2021, likely have been studying for the 2020 test; therefore, USCIS will give these applicants the option to take either the 2020 civics test or the 2008 civics test. There will be a transition period where both tests are being offered. The 2020 test will be phased out on April 19, 2021, for initial test takers.

I just received a letter saying that my biometrics will be reused but there’s no update or new documents online. Originally scheduled for 03/27/2020. Does anyone know how long it will usually take for interview to be scheduled? I am abroad now and wonder when I should come back just in case. Newark office.
So I’m Newark office as well. I filed late in March 2020 and got my bio reuse only a few days ago on 2/12th (apparently so did everyone else who filed in Newark in 2020&2021). I analyzed timelines of other Newark filers and I expect my interview between Mid-May to end of June. So for you early March filed, my GUESStimate is interview date early May to mid-June. Your interview letter arriving about 6 weeks earlier end-March to May1st. Take it with a grain of salt, but should be in a ballpark. Let’s see if I’m right.

Hi all,
Great news. Just checked my online account and saw that my interview was scheduled today. I still don't know for when since the date isn't available yet.
Great news indeed. I checked tour Timeline and you don’t have biometrics (or re-use) date. Does the interview message preceded bio reuse notification? You filed just last month. That’s crazy fast! Good for you.
Edit: I see the bio early walk-in in January in your comments (but not on timeline). Again, great, this is so fast! I hope this is the new USCIS pace moving forward with all cases lol -

Thank you DM4, I did see it now. When I filtered myself, I didn't show up in the list. Maybe I did too much filtering as it also asked for the Service Center 😉
I just wanted to make sure to be of whatever help we can be to those that are still in the process. I know how nerve wrecking this whole thing is...
Thanks again
You're welcome. Agreed. Precisely why I encourage everyone to fill out the Timeline, to help others as a reference. I filed one month after you, In March 2020 and based on the Timeline I can guesstimate my interview will be around May 2021 (the waiting game is draining me! LOL). By the way I see you uploded statement objecting to bear arms (after your interview?). I did not know you could object to that. It was my understanding it is a requirement and otherwise a deal breaker. Apparently not?

This is amazing and thank you for your help! I sent them an email with my details and the UPS tracking number showing the application was delivered on 1/12/21.
Out of curiosity, how did you manage to get information out of the virtual assistant? I found no way of interrupting or getting the assistant to answer my question.Glad I could help. As far as Emma, it is a robo chat so you have to use simple, targeted words, so the system connects the dots. Full sentences will confuse Emma. She's not that smart lol (yet...).
I think after a few failures i used something along the lines: "receipt notice not received". Again, with Emma, short and sweet

Hi DM4,
I don't really understand where to do what.
When I look at the N-400 timeline list you share the link for, I don't see mine. I did fill out all the information on my timeline so I don't understand why it doesn't show up in the list.
Hi Soley,
You are there. Look again. For your convenience I used the "filters" directly below the table and entered your filing location. See link now: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/citlist.php?op6=All&op7=West+Palm+Beach+FL&op1=3&op2=&op4=1&op5=&cfl=0
You are 3rd from the bottom, "Judy & Jim". In addition to the filters and sorting columns, I also click the "enable advanced mode" in upper right corner of the table (so I can see "comments" column). Hope this helped.

I tried calling them for half an hour and couldn't get past the automated system to speak to a person. The automated system kept running me around asking for Receipt number, which I don't have! Is there a better number to reach them than 1 (800) 375-5283 ?
So this is what i did for you:
I went on USCIS and intercepted Emma, the virtual assistant to chat. I entered your concern and after back and forth this is what robo Emma generated:
You will have to wait for your receipt number to arrive in the mail, or be sent to you electronically if you filed G-1145 along with your application/petition. If it has been more than 30 days since you submitted your application/petition and you have not received your receipt notice, please check to make sure your payment was cashed by USCIS.
If your payment was not cashed, your application/petition might have been lost in the mail or rejected by the Lockbox for some reason. Please email the Lockbox at lockboxsupport@uscis.dhs.gov to inquire about your application/petition.
If your payment was cashed, please call the USCIS Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283 or 1-800-767-1833 (TTY).So it looks like you have to email above, to inquire on your case, since your check was not cashed by USCIS and it's been more than 30 days.
Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I sent my paper application by UPS & it was delivered on 1/12/21. No notice of action or any type of confirmation so far & it has been 5 weeks. Confirmed with my bank that they didn't cash the fee check yet. Is this normal for the Newark, NJ field office? Worried that they won't cash the check before it expires in 90 days.
Here is a useful link to N-400 Processing Timelines, I sorted it by Newark,NJ but you can play around with filters: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/citlist.php?cfl=0&op1=3&op2=d&op3=&op4=1&op5=&op6=All&op7=Newark NJ
You specifically asked for Newark, NJ. My application was also paper based to Newark, NJ sent in March 2020. It took 5 days to get a notice with instructions to set up an online accout.
So I would say waiting more than 5 weeks is not normal for Newark. It should be 5 to 15 DAYS. Since it's over a month, I would give them a call right away. No point waiting another 5 weeks...

I asked multiple times about biometrics reuse and they keep telling me to wait for an appointment or that it's up to the "adjudicating officer" to decide if the biometrics will be reused or not. Another person on the phone at USCIS told me to write a physical letter to the local office asking for biometrics reuse.
How many times did you contact them before getting that response that they will reuse your biometrics?
I filed in March 2020. Contacted local Congressman end of January 2021 to help with the next step, Biometrics. I received a Bio Reuse letter from USCIS on Feb. 12th 2021.
They reused my biometrics that were taken in 2013. Your fingerprints do not expire (lol).
My advise, don't waste your time, contact your local Congressman/woman - USCIS will have to respond, by law. I sent them email before, just to get a generic (read: useless) response.
Hope this helps.

Just checked my account and I have a notification that they will reuse my biometrics dated 2/12. Filed October 25th 2020
So did thousand of people who filed in Newark, NJ. I filed March 26th 2020 and also got the note. On Feb.12th 2021 USCIS office in Newark sent the same note to many many people who filed in 2021 and 2020 (and possibly 2019)....

I can understand that, but if you look at your time of filing (if I remember correctly is March 2020) and my time of filing it is a progress for both of us. My biometric has been fairly quick, yours was longer but its moving forward. Now your interview might be scheduled within next 3-4 months and I might have to wait until end of the year. I'll take small progress at any time 😊
Sure, it is a progress by definition to receive a letter from USCIS, I agree with that.
However my point was that, since that letter was sent 1 day to massive number of people who filed within the past year+, the next steps might not follow soon, as the priority (hopefully) goes to 2019/2020 filers.
Homeland Security will not simply check your or my background next, because they have massive number of people to check. It's not like in other states when people recive bio reuse and the interview letter follows.
In this case, so many people received this letter, that it will take time for background checks and to line up all those people for interviews.
But I'm not here to burst anyone's bubble. I'm happy I got the letter even if thousand other people received the same. But I guess it's a great psychological move on the part of USCIS.

Good day to everyone. What is the current fees for Form N400? Thanks
Good morning. Here is USCIS link, see under :filing fees": https://www.uscis.gov/n-400
It's $725 but see link for details. For information on fees etc. I would advise to spend a minute to google or look up an institution providing servise (USCIS) insted of asking on forum, and risking being misinformed (just a fair warning).
Hope this helps.

My case was updated on the website that my interview was scheduled. Does anyone know how long until the letter will show up in the mail ?
Did you only receive an "update statement"? If you go to "documents" and the interview schedule letter is there, then I wouldn't care if I ever get the hard copy (I could print the electronic one).
However, if the only thing you received was a "notice update" I would be checking the "document" tab, as the letter should show up there first, before you get anything in the mail.

Hey, just FYI. You probably know this already, but you can go to this link (hopefully it will work): https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/citlist.php?cfl=0&op1=3&op2=d&op3=&op4=5&op5=&op6=All&op7=All
This is the Citizenship (N-400) Timelines TAB where you filter out info, including filing date (descending/ascending) for timelines of all who entered their info on this website. If you haven't already, you can capture that data and transfer to your spreadsheet, if you like.

Congrats! I'm in Newark NJ as well and I just received a notice that they will reuse my biometrics from last year. Onto the next step (hopefully interview appointment)
I was beyond thrilled when I saw the Biometric Reuse letter on 2/12/2021 (same date you did), and then found out that 2 other people I know who filed in October 2020 received the same letter.
Note, you filed in January 2021, I filed in March 2020. It appears there was a massive number of notices sent to Newark NJ 2020 filers (and January 2021). This was the first update on my case since I filed 11 months ago.
Looking at forums and realizing how many people received the same notice, I am less convinced it actually means any "progress", but I sure hope I'm wrong!

This is not to just get your hopes up. I've been analyzing other cases throughout the forums, and that's my "educated guess". PLEASE DO share with us here when the notice will appear in your ONLINE accout, so I can confirm I'm on the right track. Good luck!
