Problem is, these have all been emergency/expedited cases. The frustrating part with the Embassy in Colombia is that Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, etc. have resumed limited immigrant visa services specifically for IR1/2 and CR1/2 . I understand the only thing that can be done is wait, but it's just frustrating that every country around Colombia (except Brazil) has started to process spouse visas. Wish there was some transparency to understand if it's Colombia's health emergency decree that's still active and keeping the Embassy closed, or if there's a shortage in staff? IDK...

    Hi all!

I filed my k1 fiancé visa application in February 2020. Got notification that NVC had our application in July 2020. Of course the pandemic slowed things down, but now the US Embassy in Dakar states they are processing ROUTINE visa cases not subject to the proclamation so they should be processing cases like mine. When I contact NVC, they tell me they are waiting for the Embassy to contact them and notify them that they are processing routine cases... And when I contact the Embassy they tell me they are only waiting for NVC to send the application. I am so confused and lost on what to do next. As a healthcare worker, I completely understand the impact of Covid and the pandemic.. but this seems like something else... Should I look for a lawyer? Should I continue waiting in hopes that the new incoming administration will help move things along??

My best to everyone else struggling through this difficulty journey!

Thanks for any answers or words of advice!

We have been approved at NVC since April,2020. We get  the same thing almost NVC saying they are waiting on word from the embassy in Dakar so they can send our file. The Embassy in Dakar states they are waiting on the NVC to send it I have tried 4 times with medical documents to expedite and all I hear back is from the NVC stating the embassy will not expedite it. But if I contact the embassy they tell me they are waiting for it to be passed  onto them. Lack of communication between the two. My friend just got her husband here through Dakar and when she set up his appointment she said there was available appointment openings on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week, so I believe it is a problem at NVC stage not communicating with Dakar.

Yes. We are K1 and stuck at NVC currently. The operator told me that the embassy will request the application(s) when they are ready to process more and NVC would notify us when our application is sent to US Embassy Seoul but we have’t heard anything. We got NOA2 on 12/2/2020 and it left USCIS immediately after that then disappeared once it went to NVC. I had to call them to confirm they did receive it, they have not initiated communication with me/us at all so it’s been stressful feeling like I don’t know anything unless I call.

I’m doubting if I understood the NVC operator correctly. Can anyone else confirm that once K1  moves from USCIS to NVC there’s no required action of me or my fiance? They should just send it to the embassy when the embassy is ready?

Yes they go from the USCIS to NVC. Did you receive a letter or email from the NVC so you can go and make an account with them? Then they send you messages through there.

I´m just trying to understand if anyone has gotten any concrete information from these emails/calls. When I call NVC they say they are waiting for embassy to reopen. When I call/email the embassy they don´t answer or provide some very unspecific information that doesn´t answer the question about when they are reopening. Has anyone had any success in getting a concrete answer?

The Embassies main page should let you know if they are open or just partially opened. go to travel.gov search for your embassy there.

Wait, I´m confused. Are you suggesting to call NVC or the embassy?

The embassy cannot tell you anything without them having your file, NVC still has file you have to call the NVC get a reason why your file is still sitting there with them.
