So looks like biometrics for me is going to be more of a headache than I first thought. I went through the live chat today and talked to a tier 1 to see if my appointment was scheduled. Turns out it is and that my notice was supposedly sent over 14 days ago. (Which is weird because I’ve been contacting them at least once every week for the last couple of months). Anyway, she scheduled a tier 2 callback so now I’m waiting. But all in all, very frustrating!

Update: The tier 2 officer called a couple hours after and sent me my notice by email. I'm scheduled for March 18. So glad that worked out so quickly.

  3. Hi everyone, I've been trying to find a clear answer on this and I seem to get different answers every time so I figured I'd ask directly. I submitted my AOS packet last September and I recently got my I-693 deficiency notice (as expected since I didn't submit it with the original package). I still waiting on Biometrics so I'm not too far into the process yet. What I wanted to ask was when should I do the medical? I've heard that the form needs to be filed within 60 days after the physician signs it, however, I've also heard some people say that if you do it after filling, it just needs to be submitted within the two years. Should I wait till I get an interview notice or can I just get it out of the way now? I looked at the USCIS policy manual but that kind of confused me so I wanted to ask what people's experiences were for those who did the medical after initial filing. Thanks!

I went through the USCIS live chat and spoke to an agent to see if I had been scheduled biometrics or if I should be expecting any other notices. The tier 1 agent said no notices had been sent recently. Soon after I checked USPS Informed Delivery, and lo and behold, there's a letter from the NBC coming today. I'm guessing it's either Biometrics or an RFE (not I-944 since I already sent that), but I'll find out this evening. Either way, moral of the story; take whatever their live chat agents say with a grain of salt.

Update to my last post: turns out the letter was just the I-693 Deficiency Notice. Looks like I'm still playing the waiting game for biometrics.

I was checking today and on the PDF I downloaded from the page I filled everything on,  on the instructions of the AR-11 it says that I need to mail the form, but I thought I didnt because I did it online and I even got a confirmation #. So do you know which one is it? Should I mail it?

Yeah it's a little confusing. I think that the PDF you downloaded is just for your records. I didn't mail anything, just did the online form. Depending on who sponsored you, they may also need to file I-865 and mail it if you filed I-864 with your original application.

(which btw I haven't been able to verify identify on because it says my Alien number cant be found.)

Not sure what this issue is, maybe you need to contact them?

Should I be expecting an answer from them? I got the confirmation email more than a month ago.

You should get an email once USCIS completes it but they have been pretty slow about it recently. If you're worried about it, you could probably call their number and check its status. If don't have a pending petition or application, I'm not sure it matters all that much as long as you filed it.

  7. Just wanted to reply to this thread in case anybody else was wondering. USCIS completed my address change request after 18 days, and I called them to make sure it was completed properly. I guess between MLK day and Inauguration closures, they got delayed a bit.If you do call them, just give them a day or two first. I called them first a couple hours after I got the notification and they said it wasn't updated yet, I tried again after the weekend it was so I'm guessing it takes a bit for it to be pushed out to the system.

Update: I just received my entire application back with rejection - reason: outdated version of the I-485 form.

I'm super confused because it says up top "expires 07/31/2021" what am I missing here?

And I wonder if my fee is now changing. They added a copy of my enveloppe with the date of the shipping so not sure. I'll keep you updated once I talk to an agent.

The current I-485 form is the 10/15/19 form (ignore the expiry at the top and check the date on the bottom left of the form). See the edition date section at this link: https://www.uscis.gov/i-485

As far as I'm aware, the fees did not change as scheduled.

Hello, I'm in the process of filing my employment based AOS soon before the end of October. I'm doing this with an immigration laywer. I was wondering how the text notification you mentioned in your comment works. Are you referring to putting down your cell phone under the applicant's contact info section of I-485, I-765 and I-131? If so, does USCIS use that mobile phone number to send you an automated text when they officially generate a notice of receipt/action?

Or are you referring to 3rd party apps you can install on your phone that let you link your USCIS my case status account where the app will basically ding your phone when a status changes in your pending case? In this case, how do you get your hands on your case numbers in the first place?

You can submit form G-1145 with your application if you want to get a text with the case number once they accept the application at the lockbox. Although, it doesn't always work apparently as people have submitted the form and only received the paper notice in the mail later. If you are working with a lawyer, I'd imagine they are including this form.
