  1. Hey everyone. My wife's interview is on March 1st, but her family moved recently, and they may have lost the original RCMP criminal record check we got last year. I have ordered a new one (Commissionaires still had her digital fingerprints on file, so they just submitted a new request for us), but I'm worried now that we won't get it in time for the interview itself. In fact, it might arrive here in Edmonton after we've already traveled to Montreal for the interview.

Now, I have an alright-quality scan of the first check, and our family could send us a better quality scan of the new one if it arrives after we leave but before our interview. Has anyone had experience with this? We're already doing a very late medical due to other scheduling concerns, so there's no doubt that we'll see some delays just for that. Is there a way to send the original document to the Consulate by mail afterwards? Or would they accept a print out of the scanned copy (that they already might have from our DQ stage)?

Money, I'm not super rich, and I'm still working. Also not too comfortable doing so much traveling right now. I'm in Calgary, I don't really want to have to fly to Vancouver to do the medical, come back to Calgary, and do another flight. Flights to Montreal are already around $566 round trip, plus hotel, cab, food.

I am still considering going to Surrey, sent an email tonight to see what is available. Vancouver is not too bad, around $136 round trip, depending on when/if I can get an appointment.

One option I'm looking at for us in Edmonton is to fly to Toronto and do the medical there, and then drive to Montreal. This is significantly cheaper for us than flying directly to Montreal.

I've seen several people mentioning registering at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/iv/information/iv_services, but my email doesn't mention this, nor does https://nvc.state.gov/prep.

Is this something I don't need to worry about?

It's on the Montreal Consulate page: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/MTL-Montreal.html

Hey - Medysis is not open on Mondays.  My medical was Tuesday, January 5th, and was mailed to the consulate Wednesday January 13th.  My interview was on Monday Jan 11th, so obviously did not make it to the consulate in time.

    Hope this is helpful.

Are you sure? I called today and they said they only schedule immigration medicals Mondays thru Wednesdays.

Also, do you know if the reason you went into AP for your Visa was because they got your medical results late? It seems very unfortunate for you that it only took them 2 days extra to get the medical results but it delayed you about 15 days?

  5. With my wife in Edmonton, there aren't any great options for the medical. The two most feasible options are fly to Vancouver for the appt. with Dr. Cheema, or do the medical in Montreal before the interview.

I know that there can be a delay in the Visa if the medical is not ready in time for the interview. And that time seems to vary significantly from case to case, right? I've seen some say their medical arrived later in the day after the interview, and other say it took a month.

What happens in the case where the medical takes place after the interview? Let's say interview in morning and then medical in Montreal right after (because interview is on Monday, and Montreal Medical is only M-W). Is that even allowed? Or will they not let you take the interview?

    Thanks.

The consulate won't be able to do anything since they don't do the scheduling, instead they send the number of available slots to the NVC, who assigns interviews in order of DQ. The NVC might be able to do something, but it's unlikely that they would as it would likely mess up their process (still worth a shot though). You'll most likely have to miss the interview and reschedule if the dates don't work out.

Ahh ok, I see. I will reach out to both and see what they say.

Has anyone missed/rescheduled their interview recently? I read somewhere that asking to reschedule was very dangerous and could push you really far back. Not sure how true that is.

Thanks @DGF and @darth vader for the help!

  7. Hey everyone. My wife (Canadian) had DQ on June 4th. Looking at the spreadsheet, it's possible we get an interview letter this upcoming round in January, with an interview sometime in February. We have a complication: she's scheduled to take the Bar Exam online on February 23-24. It would wreak havoc with her studying/exam taking if the interview was anytime around then (travel from Edmonton to Vancouver for medical, travel to Montreal for interview, etc).

Is it worth emailing the consulate explaining the situation and requesting that, if an interview was about to be scheduled, it be after her exam (so basically March)? Or would that potentially cause more problems? Thanks!
