Yep, I would contact them just in case (Kontakt os – find dit lokale telefonnummer her | SAS), but then again I am a control freak. 😁

Although Tier 1 customer service reps are known to often give inaccurate information, so who knows, since there doesn't appear to be a national identity card system in Denmark. Or does the embassy in Stockholm give an option to send the passport to them by UPS/Fedex/DHL once you are home? This of course is more expensive and more time-consuming option.

They sent waybill information in the checklist! I don't believe even for Swedish residents they allow pickup options, maybe a covid thing? :)

Apparently ran out of time to edit my previous post for the second time:

Edit 2: Interesting. SAS' website in English says "Driving licenses, post-, bank- or tax- cards are not accepted as valid travel documents or proof of identity." (https://www.sas.dk/rejseinfo/pas-id-visum/indrejsebestemmelser/)

Edit again: Okay, never mind, the same information is in the English version of the same page: "Nordic citizens don't need to carry a passport when traveling within the Nordic countries – with the exception of Svalbard and Iceland. However, you must always be able to verify your identity upon request." Very confusing nevertheless.

Okay so a drivers license is fine, he's gonna carry his health card/CPR card too just in case! This was also on the sas website:

I'm from Denmark and finally got an appointment at the U.S Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden in late October! (if anyone is interested the Embassy received our package at the end of April, 2021)

However I have one very puzzling question. Since I need to leave my passport at the embassy (so they can add the visa), and they want me to fill out a "Fraktseddel" to ship my passport back to Denmark.

How do I get back to Denmark without my passport??? Do I literally have to take the train from Stockholm and hope there's no border control in Malmö?

Or is there a method of staying in Sweden and getting it in person? Or perhaps have it delivered to a post office in Sweden that I can pick it up at when it's ready? (the checklist specifically says to ship it to your home country though)

Thanks for all the amazing help on here!

Forgive me if I don’t understand European rules correctly, but you don’t have to go through passport control within the EU, correct? So a drivers license should be sufficient? That’s what we are banking on anyway. From what I remember correctly I would only go through passport control upon entering the EU - not at each individual country.

I’m sorry, I’m no help either but am wondering when the Swedish embassy received your paperwork? They got ours end of July and we haven’t heard anything. You had to wait to set an interview date until the embassy contacted you right?

I got it sorted I just had to wait and they payment page popped up eventually. Yes you can’t schedule an interview until contacted by the embassy. 19th of August is when our case was marked ready at the embassy.

Does anyone know how to check the case status once you get the NVC case number?  I'm not sure how to or where to go

As far as I’m aware it’ll sit at NVC for approximately 3-5 weeks minimum and then the embassy in your country requests your file to be sent over. Depending on the country backlog it might sit there longer. Once it’s at the embassy and marked “ready” then you just have to wait for your checklist to be emailed. Not a ton of updates after the NOA2. :(  Depending on where your case is in it’s journey will give you a different answer to check the status.

In many cases (mine too), the petitioner gets the email, not the beneficiary. And it's just an email, so can easily get lost in spam folders etc and most spam folders auto-delete the emails after a certain amount of time so make sure neither of you got it but lost it.

I don't know if/how things differ during the pandemic, but it seems like the embassy is not just receiving cases and sitting on them, that seems to be what NVC does. So once it leaves NVC my guess is that your case gets processed by the embassy fairly quickly, or they would've left it at NVC.

If you haven't contacted the embassy regarding the email yet, it's definitely time to do so. The i-129f approval is only valid for 4 months, likely the embassy extends the validity but you should reach out and ask to be on the safe side. If they don't hear anything from you they might think you have abandoned your case.

Interesting! I’ve heard on the Facebook group people that had their case sent to the embassy in April are just now getting their checklists so I’m not sure that I would bank on it being a quick process unfortunately.

You don't get a notification from the embassy when they have received your case, you check your status on ceac and when it says "ready" that means the embassy has received it.

The beneficiary OR the petitioner get an email from the embassy with a checklist of things to do (medical, set up an interview etc) and documents needed for the interview. Have either of you received this email? In my case the US citizen received it and forwarded it to me. Check spam folders, trash folders etc.

You can also contact the embassy if your case says "ready" and you haven't heard from them. Once "ready" your case isn't with NVC and there's no use in contacting them. It took 24 hours for my ceac status to go from "in transit" to "ready" back in 2016, should be about the same amount of time now as well.

How do I check the status? I have been looking for the ready status, but I'm not sure where to look.

    @dmeister3 I have a question if you don't mind.

I'm also from Denmark and applying for a K1 visa, and my application left the NVC on April 27th 2021...

I never received any notification that it arrived at the embassy in Stockholm, much less started on a DS160 form?

You say that your application left the NVC just 3 days before it arrived at the Embassy!? WHAT? What does that look like and how did you hear back from them? Are you already in the process of scheduling an interview?

I've been waiting for months and nothing? I'm so confused.

It would really help if you could tell me your situation. I'm worried my case was misplaced or got lost in the mail or something now...

Hey! I got an email from NVC saying my case was sent to the embassy. From there I waited a few days and used the tracking hack in Geeenbaum’s NOA2 Google doc to see when my package was delivered. Historically I usually only takes 3-4 days to arrive at the embassy once shipped. I would 100% contact the NVC if you haven’t heard anything.

    Hello everyone!

Just a little confused about the next steps at the NVC. Our NOA2 date was July 23 and our case was sent over to the NVC. I called NVC about 3 weeks after NOA2 date and got the case and invoice number. When I check on CEAC I see that our case status is: AT NVC. Does anyone have an idea for how long it stays at this step? Is 'in processing' the next step, and how long does that step take?

Any help would be appreciated. Just trying to get an idea for how long this NVC part is going to take :)

    3-4 weeks!

Hey all, should have updated my profile sooner. My fiance had her interview earlier today and was approved. So just under 10 months from when we started. Ukraine embassy in Kiev. She said was a pretty easy interview but many questions. Anyway good luck to all!

Congrats!! Super jealous! Our consulate is a year behind in interviews sadly. Safe travels for your fiance!

It does indeed feel like we are the last train left at the station...

Not sure if it is the long Swedish Summer holiday or the Covid situation in Sweden at the start of the year or something else that has caused things to grind to a halt. Wish there was something to be done - like petition for more resources or for splitting up Sweden/Denmark/Norway processing to speed things up. But that just seems like a lost cause. What is your DQ date?

Not sure, haven't gotten around to calling NVC for a case number or anything because I know Stockholm is a year backed up. Yeah I really wish Denmark was able to do K1s he would be here already had that been the case. :(
