    QUOTE(Bill B @ Sep 17 2007, 08:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
    Mirla,

I doubt it unless they are in a very high position and work for the Department of State, USCIS (powerful enough to move recources from one area to K1/K3 processing), White House, or a very powerful congressman or senator. The delays they are having are almost certainly going to be attributed to unavailable funding or staffing to make necessary major improvements. Our letter, our collective voices, and public support are likely to be the only way a vast amount of funding would possibly be quickly given to them for improvements in the K1/K3 processing time area. Government's focus now is on the war, the Mexico border, and other reactions to public opinion priorities like bridges...as I mentioned above public opinion and tragedy often drive funding. On Aug 1 the bridge in Minnesota collapsed. This last week a US Senate bill came out that contains an extra $1 billion for bridge repair. And it will take even longer before the money gets to the folks writing the checks to pay for the repairs. Changes in Government are rarely ever quick, but there is strength in numbers, voices, and public opinion...especially close to major elections. But if we don't at least try, we have no chance for improvements that may help us and no chance to help others after us.

100 % with you on that!

And thank you for the letter! The last edition looks absolutely brilliant! Seems it is ready to go out to the world! Just let's all agree on the way of doing it. Only acting quickly and as a large group of people can possibly help !

  2. As much I want to have things speed up and us to be reunited, I wanted to ask an attorney whether it would be advisable to have a Congressman involved. I am pasting the answer I got back below; I do realize that everyone's case is different, hence do not take it as anything more than just information. :) In my case, the Congressman's name is Barney Frank.

    ------------------------

Unfortunately, you and everyone else who filed a fiancee visa petition are missing

their fiancees. So you can try a call to Barney Frank's office, but I can tell you right

now that because your case has only been pending for 4 months, there isn't anything

they're going to do for you. I think it is much wiser to hold off on asking for Barney

Frank's help in case you need help from him later. Embassies are known to do crazy

things, and we may truly need his help then. So my advice is try to be patient, and

not call his office right now.

    --------------------------

Well, I agree with what your attorney is saying, however, I think what the group is proposing is not a "me specific" appeal, but rather a "this whole process is ridiculous" approach when contacting politicians. We just want as many people to know how screwed up USCIS is and have the people who can make a difference hear our voices.

    Yeah, agree.

The whole point of a group action is that it is not about an individual case, but about current complete mess of the entire process and about false ,cheap , and misleading information that we are getting as law obedient citizens and customers from their co called "Customer service"

  3. It's been awful quiet in here today so I thought I'd jump-start this thread.

When I first filed, the timeline estimated that my case would be adjudicated by September 1st.....

Now the date is November 2.

I was in Albania for about a month with my SO and, although I knew better, I hoped I'd see an approval or at least a touch upon my return. NOTHING.

I'm certainly fed up; have been for a while now.

Are you all ready to organize something or do you want to keep waiting for USCIS to do the right thing?

I sent a sample form letter to another member to proof. I hope some of you will come on-board to wake USCIS and our Senators up before the 6-month mark arrives and we are all still sitting around waiting for an approved petition.

    Stay tuned.

U.S. Wendy and amrssnowangel ,thanks you both for starting out this conversation!

I also think that we need to start some kind of actions rather that just ranting and venting.

As we all can see something unprecedented is happening now with our waiting times and with amount and quality of information we have from USCIS (pertains to both service centers)

We are quite large group of people in the same situation, confused , upset, buried in uncertainties.. We should be able to draw attention to our situation, and make our voices heard by the right channels and authorities.

I am bad in organising things initially, but will gladly participate in any worthwhile actions . You have my vote and my voice

    Once again big thank you!

  4. My mind is working double time....

What do others think of a "CALL IN DAY"? A SPECIFIC DAT OR TWO...where we ALL call in to senators offices, flood them with emails, with a plea for simple information???? May not work...but.....what if it DID? (ohhh theres that optimistic positive PMS combination working....:blink::innocent: ) And instead of sending chocolates or flowers to VCS....send the to our politicians with letters....hmmm......

This is what I was thinking of all the time, I think we do need (and able to) to organize some kind of action of united group of VJ's.

You can count me in !

    Anyone?

  5. Grid,

I can't help with answers, but just wanted to mention that I have very similar concerns. I also petitioned for my ex 5 years ago (also for AOS). I submitted my K-1 petition for my fiance (Ukrainian as well) just 5 days after divorce was final. Moreover, my fiance now (for whom I am petitioning )-is my former husband. We divorced 15 years ago, just before I immigrated to America from Ukraine. The worse part in addition to everything above (as I think...,might be wrong...) that I have my ex's name on all my tax documents .

I totally lost my sleep thinking of how many red flags I am having...

The only thing I can offer that may be informational to you is to watch my path, since I filed in May, and have NOA1 from early June

    My best wishes to you!

  6. Hi again! I am OP , who initially asked the question. Based on your opinions I already booked a flight with Virgin Atlantic .Found very good deal ( I think... )-$ 771.

I feel less anxious now and again thanks a million to you for helping me to make a decision.

I love you all!!!! ...and continue to read about your experiences

  7. Thank you so much to all who spent time and gave me your opinions and reviews! I am very infrequent fly-er so these opinions helped a lot. Based on them I would definitely prefer BA over United, but knowing what problems BA facing lately (thanks for the link to article!) ,i probably will fly by United instead. Just do not want spend couple of hours waiting for luggage instead of being in my honey's hands, who is going to meet me in airport-can't believe it will happen so soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. 'mike & elena' ,Thanks a lot for your reply! However how to know if flight is going to be overcrowded in advance, at time of booking? Any hints?

And since I do have these two choices of particular airlines-United and Britishairways, which one is more preferable? I have a little experience with United(not very good one), and thinking may be British is more comfortable one? Or not ? Anyone with personal experience of flight to London?

  9. I am trying to book flight from San Francisco to London. Will be meeting with my fiance there (he will fly from Ukraine). Prices pretty much the same, but I feel so uncomfortable to fly alone 10 + hours, so I need to know all info ahead :-))

Can you please suggest which airline is better : United or Britishairways in terms of convenience , safety, service?

    Thanks in advance!

  10. I can' help with an answer, however I can assure you that there are some people in the same situation. Including me  .I submitted my petition in just 2 days after my final divorce date , being separated with my ex for 1.5 y prior to that . It also worries me a lot because I read somewhere here on VJ that it IS a red flag....Just thought that I can't wait for another year, or even a half of year with submitting my petition until it looses its "redness"...

  11. Olya, it's all relative (ie I don't think you'll find anything really good that's also reasonably priced in London), but I'd try for a B&B or smaller hotel in the Bloomsbury area... a short walk from King's Cross station, and quite central, and not horribly expensive... in fact any B&B is usually better than a hotel, as a rule

though that said, my cousin just stayed in the Ibis (big chain of hotels) behind Euston station and found it very reasonable and quite centrally located

    hope that's of use...

Thanks so much, "StillThePrettiest" . Will try to look for B&B in that area. Was soo surprised how expencive everything is in London! But nothing can't stop us anyway!!!!(L)

  12. Hi All! Speaking of UK, I am going to London to meet with my fiance. My first time there, very exited!!!!

Could you please suggest me some decent hotel? I am trying to book it now, but by reading TripAdviser just realized how expensive the ones that has even a minimum comfort level.

I really want to have this visit the memorable one, but at the same time can't afford to spend a lot :-(.

I would sacrifice location for comfort ( not sure on which day we finally will going to leave our room ;-) -haven't seen each other since last August ), but still want it to be in a safe, nice neighborhood, and conveniently connected to some famous places.

    Any ideas, please!

  13. I am totally confused on how to start to count my NOA1 date. My timeline is following:

    5/16/07-I mailed my petition

    5/18/07-it was received by CSC

I called CSC at the end of June to find out any info, they gave me my WAC #and told that they will mail my hard copy of NOA1. I was able to see from that time my account online.

It was said "On June 5, we received your petition, blah, blah..."

So I assumed that my NOA1 date is June ,5th. However I still haven't got my NOA1 in a mail. I called them again on July,20 asking about NOA1. And guess what? I got my NOA1 in a mail today (actually I got two letters with NOA1  with 2 different dates) One is -July, 25 in the Notice Date field. Other one is with July, 26 in the Notice Date field.

Now I fully regret on insisting of sending me a note :( .

Does it mean that my NOA1 date is July, 26 instead of what it reads on their site about June, 5?? And despite me sending the petition on May, 16??

Could anyone clarify it for me, please!

  14. Here is something for June :)

Does everyone know you can get this type of information anytime from the Immigration Timelines area? I just go there, increase the number of rows displayed, and then sort by NOA1 or whatever I am wanting to look at. For what I posted above, I copied the rows in Excel, cleaned it up, saved it as an HTML file and then uploaded it as an attachment. Keep in mind this is a snapshot from this morning and is not updated real time like the Timeline area is. I'd be happy to explain more about this if anyone wants.

    Tim&Lana,

Thanks a lot for organizing that info for us. I could perfectly open and see this file.

Wish to see all of us moving to NOA 2 soon!

  15. hi guys!

we sent our K-1 Petition Docs to CSC last May 17. I frequently read and posted some replies in the May filers thread since we submitted our docs on May. On June 13, we got our case number when my fiance called uscis. the next day, we registered on their on-line services and we saw there that they received our packet lasy June 5.

So, I just realized that I should be part of the June Filers.

AKI, pls add me to the list of the filers. according the uscis website, CSC received our packet last June 5, but until now, we haven't received our NOA1. Oh, terrible! Even though CSC's technical problem is already ok this time.

Wishing all the fastest things to happen on our applications guys! Come on, CSC, MOVE! MOVE! MOVE!

    God bless everyone..

Hi everyone! I am new to postings here-in June filers, because I also considered myself May Filer. Our dates are exactly the same as beng and carl's. And my NOA1 date is also June, 5. And moreover , also did not get any hard copy of it. Called CSC today , heard the same answer -"computer problems..., wait another 30 days, then call again...bla, bla"

Take me to the club, please. And ,please, add me to the June List. Will be waiting together :-)

The best of luck to all!

  16. Hi everyone!. I am new here and that is awesome web site !

Do you know where to go in Ukraine to obtain (order) Police background checks ? Is it just in Local police office of the city? May be someone has an expirience of obtaining it in Odessa, Ukraine.

    Thanks!

My girlfriend is from Odessa. You can try contacting her through my profile on here. Her name is Karolina. Can't miss her. She's had her's done and probably wouldn't mind helping you. ;)

Thanks a lot ,JoeMama. I've tryed to contact her directly via sending her a message , but could not -got an error. I am coping my questions for her here, may be you can ask her to read it? ANd good luck in all your future endeavors here in USA and in Odessa. I miss that city dearly.

    Hi Karolina!

Your sweetheart has advised me to ask you a question. I have the following situation: My fiance is from Odessa as well. He has a question about police certificat.

    1. Where he should go in Odessa to get it?

    2. How long will it take to have it on his hands? Can I ask you another question? He does not any "propiska" now (long story about lost propiska when divorced, and now he is waiting for his new appartment to be built , but untill it's done-he can't be propisan there).

Will he need propiska for interview?, or for getting his police certificat?

Thanks alot in advance!!! It's so good that you are from Odessa!
