@podeena have you heard any update on your wife visa status why it’s taking forever to be issued ?

and no I still have not received any letter at 21 months waiting

Nothing I'm so confused and depressed we send inquiry which just a candid response that it's under consular review we will let you know status still say refused and they still have our passport 😔 no email of any documents required approval letter with us and we're waiting.God knows what they want from us. What dates are IL nowadays, interview of what DQs?how long you guys have to wait for IL.🤔 Hopefully soon.🙏🏽

Is it normal nowadays for everyone else after interview ? Or is it just happened in your wife case specific?

I understand some cases go under administrative review and take upto 3 months . But It only happens when the information entered at I-130 and d-260 doesn’t match at the information told at the interview.

Yes lots of people are waiting after interview for a while for visa but many people are getting DS 5535 form for travel history regardless of putting no travel history in ds 260 , that's a norm for Isl to speed up the backlog for IL they find this way of stupidity calling lots of interviews and then pending issuance of visa by giving 221G or Ds 5535 form or putting in AP for no reason  we send them inquiry but got candid response under counselar review. No in our case all is well in all the forms and paperwork and interview. God knows their brain and plan we have no words  they do whatever they want to do no one is investigating them what a waste of our tax money US embassy working like Pakistani offices,no response whatsoever.😠

What are the possibilities of transferring the case to another country?

Anyone knows how long it can take?

Do you have to be a legal resident or you can go on a visit visa?

Yes as far as I know you have to have residency you can't be a visitor I think someone ask this B4 and one of these post here explain the process and yes it takes shorter time  but every country have different timing but off course much better than ISL EMBASSY. Anyone here if know more info please share.thx

  5. @appleblossom as per your post you said.

"I've worked in immigration for years (Canadian, not US) and there are certain countries that will take much longer than others for various reasons - high fraud risk, lack of response to background checks, etc. Pakistan is one of that."  with your experience can you please give some advice on this situation  ir1 case of us citizen filed in 2019 and interviewed in March 2023, got white paper saying congrats u qualified for visa and fullfiled all the requirements kept the passport saying u will get ur Visa in 3to 4 weeks,no 221G,No DS 5535 no travel history , too many  dates change on status on CEAC now from last month it's stuck on Refused status after  saying ready for few months. Now it's been 4 months and medical will be expire after next month.lots of inquiries, congressman, even senator candid responses came what do you say in this situation and should that person file Mandamus it's so frustrating and painful. Please share  your expertise thx.

Please do -- it's like a policeman being able to stop a murder in progress versus having to clean up after two dozen murders. :P

Nobody wants a thread to be murdered.

Hopefully never happened here again but just to know where I can find this "report post " thing.🤔 To inform you guys about these rude and disrespectful posts.

Thank YOU for remaining respectful through it all.

To all:  A favor, please -- "report post" at the first instance of similar violations.  With your help, we can nip things in the bud before they extend over several pages of the thread. :)

Thanks I didn't know that otherwise I will do that long time ago good to know thanks for opening the post again.👍

    Hello poodena,

i was praying that you get the visa right away and I am sorry you didn’t get it. Now the last question I asked you was who did your spouse give the interview w. Someone, I am not gonna say who, but someone who works in the embassy says that some of the officers are hardcore and very strict and give out less visa than others

Some middle aged man that's I only know.🙏🏽

  9. Please everyone here on this post this immigration journey is already so painful for everyone and I'm sure everyone have some experience and opinions to share but please be careful with your words and just share positive vibes and info to help each others just like other post for this purpose, I start this thread for help and support so we Pakistani stuck at ISL EMBASSY can share info and feel each other's pain not to get angry and frustrate each other this is already so painful journey be calm and respect each other not everyone is agreed on everything different poeple have different experience and opinions. I hope we use this post for positive info and feel each other's pain. Thx again

I've worked in immigration for years (Canadian, not US) and there are certain countries that will take much longer than others for various reasons - high fraud risk, lack of response to background checks, etc. Pakistan is one of those countries, any application I dealt with from there would often take twice as long as background checks were a nightmare. I doubt very much that it's laziness or corrupt staff, they're probably just as frustrated as you are with the whole process as they'll have sent out for checks and be chasing them constantly without getting any response (been there, done that!). Your sister was lucky, and perhaps she didn't have as much to check as you (i.e. has she always lived in the same place, not been to uni - whereas perhaps you have moved and been to uni - those kind of things will make a big difference).

I know it's horrid when you're the one waiting for those checks to be done so that you can be cleared and given a visa. But I just thought I'd give another perspective as somebody that's been called all sorts of names because an applicant is waiting for a decision, when actually there's no delay on my part and I'm just waiting for a university/bank/police department (etc) to respond to me and they take months to do so. Please don't assume it's incompetent staff when they're probably doing the very best they can with limited resources.

I hope you hear positive news very soon.

I understand all the facts you're saying yes that's my point Pakistan is a high fraud risk country and yes due to this checking records there is a big hassle and take time but I don't understand  they give visit visa here and there bc poeple are using agents in one to two days don't they chk their backgrounds and legitimate immigration spousal visa of US citizens waiting not 1or4 days but 4 months after approval for their background check-up. I myself work in us  government and can't figure out this why can't they response to inquiry and say what they're doing with your case or what else they need if anything,I tried so many times not to write names but waiting for 4years for your spouse now don't have any more patience and words than this. God will give me and others patience to deal with it only those people can feel my pain who are going through this painful journey. Thx for your explanation though maybe it can help someone in this post.

There must be a directive given to them to do this stuff because I have now seen how the Abu Dhabi embassy operates and went through the process there and it is leagues ahead in efficiency. I don't believe any other embassies around the world are this bad either.

I'm just glad I avoided all this mess and am through it. I incurred a lot of costs for getting residence, shifting my case and living in the UAE for a month or so but now it all seems worth it.

Congrats and pray for all of us too 🙏🏽 thx for sharing it might help someone in this horrible journey from ISL EMBASSY.

US embassy in Islamabad needs to shutdown permanently. Such a waste of a US citizens tax payers money.
All they doing is making US citizens life harder and harder because they made a huge mistake by marrying someone in Pakistan 🇵🇰.

We will pray to Lord to give them the worst depressing and anxiety disorders that we are going thru.

💯 Agreed 👍🙏🏽😡simply making our life miserable due to their inefficient working ethic can't believe after approval  still 4 months since one of our members posted here they didn't get their passport back and no one give any response to their multiple inquiries just candid responses they're so lazy can't response like humans pathetic 😡

Hi @podeena I'm having a similar situation - my husband had his interview in March and he still hasn't gotten his passport. After they interview they gave him a "congratulations" paper so we assumed we'll get the passport back in time. We still haven't 4 months later and his medical will expire at the end of August....when we inquire - the email from ISL says "your case is awaiting counselor review." Is that the same as AP??

It's so weird bc if it's AP I believe they will give him 221G or ds5535 not approval letter and if not at the time of interview then some poeple get an email for more paperwork if needed this is so bazaar I think did he check his email, junk and spam? We can just pray 🙏🏽🤞 of anyone else knows any case like this please share your thoughts thx.

Hi Podeena, I've a question regarding polio vaccine. Did your wife take that certificate with her on the day of medical or was she administrered that vaccine on the spot? Asking because my partner does not have a polio vaccine certificate as she was administered polio drops when she was very young and has no documentation to proof it. So in her case, will she be required to present a certificate to the medical examiner or will the medical officer administer her polio vaccine again on the day of the medical exam?

Yes your spouse need polio vaccine certificate my spouse had to go some hospital and got drops and certificate to give them they need that so do it B4 medical and have certificate it's a good idea.Good luck.

Out of the 30 people i know in real life that came to USA from pakistan it took them all 2-3 weeks but yah i guess in 2016 it was different.

You both are right but yes some people are just lucky in this painful journey of immigration I know my relative's sister just had her interview on July 5 and got her passport on 10 July  and her brother with same ir1 category waiting for his passport since 4 months so what you call it 🤔 we can just pray 🙏🏽🤞
