An appeal would only makes sense if it was the fault of USCIS. If you can't prove that there is no sense in doing this.
 
You'll start from the beginning and file everything again. A new application. Follow the advices that people already gave you here. Read the guides, get the newest forms and read and follow the instructions carefully.

I found this guide really helpful when we filled out the i-485 it goes through each question.

Of course there are other forms to fill, so make sure you get them all. Maybe start with the i-485 as itll get you used to how to fill out the forms with the guide.
