MoHanu reacted to Richbella in CR1/IR1 K1 US Visa Processing for Ethiopian telegram group
Hello Everyone, I have a good news for you. I just created a telegram group called CR1/IR1 K1 Visa processing for Ethiopian. I was waiting for someone to create this group for so long but nobody did, and today I decided to be that one person and took the action to create this group. I will put the link below for you to join the group or you can just type CR1/IR1 K1 US Visa Processing for Ethiopian on telegram and join the group. In this platform we can ask questions, talk about our visa journey and more other case related topics.Good luck everyone we're all in this together.

Your original question has mostly been answered, but I just wanted to add that when I look at the visa issuance statistics, the most important piece of information to me is the combined total of IR1/CR1 visas issued, rather than either one of them individually.

The higher that combined total, the more visas are being processed by the given embassy/consulate and the faster we all get through the queue. Plus, aside from things like COVID closures there is no way to know how long after marriage any given couple has waited to actually file the petition. Some do it immediately, while others have already been living together outside of the U.S. for years before filing, etc.

Long AP will change any CR1 to IR1 as soon as the marriage hits 2 years   / We applied CR1 but visa was stamped IR1
its only the length of marriage that determines this
and for any high fraud country you will see the 1st stage of the process is  longer also  so when visas are issued ,  it is often IR1

I was married 5 years when the visa was finally issued and a friend of ours went 7

Check out the other high fraud countries and you will see the same / more IR1 than CR1

Date of entry into the US ultimately decides CR or IR. Consulate issues it as a CR if the interview takes place before  the 2 yr anniversary date .. but an issued CR1 can result in arrival as an IR1 ..  resulting in an unconditional LPR status and no Removal  of conditions needed ... if the interview happens before the 2 year mark but the entry at POE happens after the 2 yr mark. Some people delay their entry until after the 2 years for this reason .. but entry has to happen before the visa and medical become expired.

At the 2 year point of a marriage, the spousal visa is classified as an IR-1.  There is actually no difference other than that (except for the requirement to remove conditions for a CR-1).  There is no difference in their priorities at the consulate.  This just means that interviews were for marriages of a longer duration.....probably due to Covid delays.

Probably because of the Covid that delay everything more people had reached the 2 years anniversary. My guest!

You just need to print your email where it's asking you about the police clearance and take it with you also take 2 passport size photos and your ID. It will probably take one or two days.

Glad to find few people whose  cases are in Ethiopia. I used to call them every other week before September 2020 but now I kind of gave up I guess for a while. Your updates were great since I didn't know about they resume some routine visa process even though this is just for passport.Yes most of those people at the phone doesn't know any details about the process at all. I Will call and try myself again and  will update you soon.I am thinking we should have one thread just for US embassy in Ethiopia or some kind of telegram or Facebook group. If anyone knows if there is one please share so we can join.

For all the people in this thread waiting on the embassy in Ethiopia, have you seen their latest update? They finally resumed some US Citizen services for passport renewal, and hope to resume notarial/registering a birth abroad services soon.

The optimist in me wants to interpret this as a step in the right direction towards opening up visa interviews as well

The pessimist in me thinks that they are only doing this because of the recent heartbreaking events happening in the country, and pressure from U.S. citizens stuck in Ethiopia with expired documents for the embassy to finally start providing some services.

I'll add a note that I called the U.S embassy in Ethiopia from within Ethiopia in September, and the woman on the phone told me that DUE TO THE EECUTIVE ORDER (not COVID) they will absolutely not process my husbands visa until after December. I told/reminded her the executive order does not apply to spouses of US Citizens, and her response was for me to reread the EO, they are not processing spousal visas, and hung up the phone.

I don't know what to think of all of this. What are y'all's thoughts? Have any of you gotten any other updates from the embassy in Ethiopia?

This is probably one in a million thing but I just got approved PD 02/12/2020 after getting transfer on 02/23 Nabraska to Vermont.I-129F was directly sent to Vermont.  Feel bad for getting approved before others but you cant stop Gods miracle sometimes (not even a religious guy but this one might make me one more lol)

I am on the same scenario like yours. I-130 sent to Nebraska (IOE receipt number on Feb 2020).I had it on my notice and called to confirm it's in Nebraska. I-129F sent to Vermont I also got confirmation for that. But yestarday March 6th I chatted with representatives through Emma and they told me My case got transferred to Vermont. My guess is that they are moving some old cases to Vermont and also probably they are merging some I-129f and I-130 cases in one place. Hope it's a good thing 🤞🙏🙏
