I have the same questions. My husband’s case was expedited. The embassy told him to do his medical exam but they didn’t schedule him for interview yet. I don’t know if I should schedule the interview myself or if they should do it .

They called today and scheduled an interview for tommorow.

I emailed the embassy yesterday about next steps. Still haven't gotten a reply yet. Maybe due to the holidays.

  3. So my wife's case was expedited by the embassy. The embassy called her and said to complete the medical but the embassy did not schedule an interview date. My wife completed the medical a few days ago and the embassy still hasn't contacted her. Does the hospital and embassy communicate and then schedule an interview? Or is there another process involved?

You probably expedited your case? Since in a "normal" case process you receive the interview letter from NVC before the case goes "in transit". For expedites, the embassy will contact you directly for an interview.

Yeah the was case expedited but not me but the embassy. How long does it take embassy to give you a date after a expedite and the case is ready?

It very much depends on your Embassy and if course the covid situation there and whether they are doing interviews at all currently. You can do a timeline search for your country to see if there's been any recent interviews and look to see even they were DQd.

Yeah they also mentioned that my case was expedited and it left the NVC and is now at the embassy. I wonder if the embassy is prioritizing CR1 visas and we will soon hear from the embassy for an actual date for an interview.

It used to be a few days up to 3 months.  Now, it can vary due to the Covid backlog at NVC.  Once a consulate informs NVC of available interview dates, they (NVC) will schedule interviews starting at the front of the queue for that consulate.

Ahh gotcha. So if there would be a delay it would be the NVC and not the embassy?

Eventually. That embassy doesn't appear to be performing any interviews outside of an emergency at the moment. When they do start doing interviews, CR/IR cases are usually first in line, with cancelled interviews getting priority first. There's going to be backlog before it's your turn, but maybe it won't be so bad since you said they don't normally have a long wait. Here's the official page on it  https://mk.usembassy.gov/visas/

Thanks. I remember reading there was implementing a phase approach to opening a embassy. Do you know the criteria for the opening of the embassies?
