  1. Had my oath ceremony yesterday. It was actually a disappointing affair, I don't know what I was expecting but no photos were taken or allowed and it took less than 10 minutes. I have now registered to vote, passport application will be sent off next week and then update my social security afterward.

All done with USCIS though, so that's good, even though, for me it has been a fairly painless journey, just a bit expensive. Best of luck to all still waiting!

Well so it’s not only my case that’s been delayed. Thanks for your reply.  With all the immigration changes becoming a citizen is mandatory if we want to live in the US without fear. Being a permanent resident just doesn’t seem as solid as it used to be. I applied based on the 5 year rule, no wife and no dependents. Should be a simple case and still nothing from USCIS.

Likewise, 5 year rule. (Albeit through marriage initially). Nothing you can do, just wait. It's frustrating, but what can you do?

I’m in Orlando Florida. Estimated completion time haven’t changed (October 2020) but now says “we are taking longer than usual to process your case”. Still says we reviewed your biometrics as case status. Anyone else  from Orlando? This process is taking a toll on my soul, nightmares every night.

Hi, I'm going through Tampa and my estimated completion has entirely disappeared. I'm sure it's fiiiine. Previously it was July and then August before it disappeared.

    Completed my N400 process!

I had my interview yesterday Lawrence MA field office. My appointment was at 9:30am, I checked in at 9:10am. They called me around 10:05am. The interview took around 20mn, everything went well, I passed and he asked me to wait for the oath ceremony. They called us around 11am for the oath, they gave us our certificates after the oath. Thanks to God and thanks to everyone here.

    Congratulations!

    Hello everyone,

My wife got her Green card through our marriage 5 years ago. Technically, she was eligible to apply for US Citizenship 2 years ago...But, we procrastinated. Now, we decided to apply this month.

While applying, we noticed under eligibility that we can either select one of following

    1. Permanent Resident for 5 years OR

    2. Permanent Resident for 3 years and married to US Citizen spouse.

I'm wondering which option should we select ?

Option 1. If she has been a permanent resident for 5 years she is eligible without the marriage, there is also less evidence to bring with you to interviews etc.

No to be honest,  i think identity goes more with my beliefs and personality.

But it was a little bittersweet to remove my mother last name, in Latin American countries usually Mom is the one who takes care of the kids, Dad is the worker who bring the food and money to the house.

I talked about it with her and she understood my situation. I think that was the difficult part, but glad she was on my side.

Yes, I imagine that would be hard.

Thanks for getting back to me!

In my case, my country use the following pattern [First Name - Second Name - Father Last Name - Mother Last Name] which make it extremely long for legal documents here in the US, because of the characters allowed in their systems. I'm keeping my first name and the initial letter for the second name and only the first last name. Not a big change, but for legal documents it will make a difference.

Yes, I've seen that before with some colleagues in Costa Rica also. Very interesting.

Personally, is there any sadness that you felt that that was the best course of action? Any loss of "identity"?

I applied online Jan 31, 2020. Biometrics done in february , and I just saw today 08/20/2020 , I was scheduled for an interview.

    Office : jacksonville , Florida

anyone did an interview during this pandemic ? do we do it with the mask on ? please share your experience, thank you

    Congratulations!

I'm sure others have done their interviews at this time and I believe masks are a requirement for entering the building. Any requirements will be on your notice too.
