Submitted our AOS packet 6/5/2020 and got approved 5/5/2021, took 11 months! The wait was long but worth it. I know some of you are still waiting for your applications to process. Hang in there!

Here is our experience at the NYC office:

Went for an interview on Wednesday at the NYC office with my husband for his AOS. They were very organized and efficient, surprisingly short wait! Our appointment was at 9:55 am. We arrived for security around 9:15 am and had our interview around 10:15 am. We were interviewed by Officer Morgan who was friendly and professional. She asked for the originals of our birth certificates, marriage license, daughter’s birth certificate, joint financial documents and joint tax return. She asked some basic informational questions and went through the inadmissibility questions.

We received an electronic notification that the green card was in production by that same evening.

Wishing all of you applicants a similarly positive experience if you are going to the NYC USCIS office.

*Tip: the security check is just like the airport security so be prepared to take off your shoes!

Congratulations! I had mine at the NYC office too. It was a quick interview – no small talks and straight to the point. I was approved on the spot. My card came last Tuesday.

For those who are still in the process, hang in there!

Congratulations!! What items did you take with you? We’re debating bringing the same stuff we submitted in the application

Thanks so much! The officer looked at the original copy of our ID (my passport and my husband's driver license), original copy of our birth cert including our daughter's, original marriage cert, copies of our joint bank account, our recent income tax returns, and our recent family photos (printed). Those were the items he asked for but I over prepared and brought copies of what I submitted. Hope this helps.

    Hey Guys,

I have a question for the folks who received the EAD:

DId you also receive your SSN Card? If so, how long did that take?

We checked the box on the form to allow USCIS to release the information to SSA in order to generate a card but I have been reading online that USCIS does not always send this over.

    I appreciate the help.

My SSN card didn't arrive in the mail. I had to call the local SSA office and checked on the status. I made an appointment, went to the office and found out I was already in the system. I asked them for my SSN when I was there. It took less than a week for the card to be mailed.

In the process of expediting my EAD! I got an offer so I spoke to an agent through Emma and she put in the request on 12/16. When I woke up this morning I had an update status email from USCIS saying they received the request and my status updated on Case Tracker to ‘Expedite Request Received’. She said I would hear back from them within 5 days. I suppose they’ll ask for proof (offer letter) on the next step. Fingers crossed! Hoping to start the new year with my combo card in hand.

That's good! I'm in the process of expediting my EAD too. I received an email and they asked to fax proof of a pending job offer. I'll do that with a cover letter.

I was also scheduled for code 2 but I asked for code 3 and the lady who was taking my fingerprints said that it supposed to be 3 anyway but just the computer generates the letter and they do mistakes . Just be nice and let them know that you have been told from USCIS that you need code 3 so you do not need to go again. I think for I-765 and I- 131 its the same. Good luck.

Thanks for letting us know. I received my biometric appointment letter today and it said 'Code 2'. I will ask for 'Code 3' when I go for my appointment.

I contacted USCIS and they said that it can take up to 90 days to receive any update after the RFE is received. About 1 month after the RFE evidence was received, I got the I-693 courtesy notice. Still waiting on biometrics but Sacramento might take a while.

If you do want to check, use live chat. Honestly, the live chat option has been really quick. I plan to follow-up after 90 days.

Thanks for the tips. I'll do the same. Wait and follow-up after 90 days.

  7. Hello, I'm wondering if you can help me with this.

I came to the US as an ESTA visitor. I got pregnant with my US citizen boyfriend and decided to stay as it was best for us. We got married after that. During my pregnancy, I applied for Medicaid and got approved. After my daughter was born, I sent in my AOS application and still had my medicaid.

Here is my question: Will my AOS application be jeopardise if I still have medicaid coverage? (My husband is my primary sponsor and I have a joint sponsor)

  8. Received the RFE letter today. Letter was in red. They requested for more supporting tax documentation for the joint sponsor. It's manageable and I'll get the documents out by next week. Keeping myself calm with all these stress around me.

    Here's my timeline:

AOS package date sent: June 1

AOS package date received: June 4

    NOA1 texts: June 28

    NOA1 letters: July 06

    RFIE: July 23

    RFIE Letter: July 28
