  1. Looks like the list is the standard list for the majors needed. Yearly flu shot is dependent on the time of year for your interview and the covid vaccines are supposed to be updated to reflect newer variants, so you'll just have to keep an eye on whether that one changes to a fall booster or not.
  2. It's helpful if you fill out your timeline: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=418455
  3. A joint sponsor is essentially there to assist your sponsor with demonstrating to the government that you won't become a ward of the state/country. They are not there to be like a parent/child relationship to cover your costs and provide you an allowance. They should only be called upon as a last resort. It's your responsibility to get a job and pay your bills. If you don't pay that bill, it will go to collections and potentially damage your credit when you don't have any, making it even more challenging for you to be successful in the US. Find a way - insurance, cash payment, payment plan - to pay your medical bill. You're an adult. You need to be independent.
  4. What, exactly, was the 221g for? Was your medical at the consulate already at time of interview?
  5. You cannot schedule a medical until you have an interview letter in hand. You CAN, however, collect your immunization records for the medical exam and ensure you have the required jabs. If you don't have an immunization record, it would be in your best interest to have a titers test done to find out which immunities you possess and to get any deficiencies taken care of.
  6. Look at Toronto in addition to Montreal when the time comes. In more recent times, Montreal is very backed up for appointments and people are having more timely success in Toronto .
  7. Nope, not at all. Legally entitled to work in the US! The WA office had a steady stream of interviews going on. The lovely lady there took a bit of pity on me because we live in TX and were in WA because (long and short) there were no rental cars in BC or AB. She could understand the conundrum we were in being stuck at the southern border and no end in sight to the offices opening. My renewal application was approved with no interview during covid, but Kid1 and Kid2's renewals are pending. Hopefully with the passports and greencards verified on record, that will bump them to approved without interview.
  8. @DGF are you still looking after the FAQ's? Just an update for those of you with NEXUS cards. Canadian NEXUS offices remain closed with covid excuses on the doors. US NEXUS offices are open. The GOES portal is basically locked down for updates I went to the NEXUS office in WA last week. The very lovely lady there told me that the GOES system has been locked down since COVID, so if you've submitted them online, nothing has been done with them and no verification of documentation has been done. She was able to verify and update our greencards AND the new passports Kid2 received during covid. I had sent an inquiry to CBP about these updates and, of course, they took over a month to update me. But, they reiterated what the lovely lady at the WA NEXUS Center told me: NAME CHANGE: Please reply to this message with a color image of your passport reflecting the name change. (cbpinfocenter@cbp.dhs.gov) CITIZENSHIP OR IMMIGRATION STATUS CHANGE: Please reply to this message with images of your new passport or Permanent Resident Card (I-551). For U.S. Permanent Resident cards, please provide images of the front and back of the card. DOB or GENDER UPDATES/CORRECTIONS: Please reply to this message with a color image of your passport reflecting the correct date of birth and/or gender. ADD or UPDATE VISA: Please reply to this message with a color image of the new visa. Once we receive your attachment, we will escalate this case to request the name update. Escalation processing times are currently 3-4 weeks. The lady at the NEXUS Enrollment Center said to keep the scans to the EXACT size of the document (don't resize) and as close to original as possible so they can verify. So, that might be helpful for those of you who depend on Global Entry expedites to get into the US (NEXUS lineups seem to be more easily mastered). I know I have ZERO desire to get stuck in a long lineup coming into the US when I have paid for an expedited traveler option!
  9. It's in the FAQ's As for whether you can work without the SSN, the answer is yes, you can. See the instructions for I-9. Many HR personnel are unfamiliar with these instructions and *think* you need a social, but you don't. Not immediately. The Social is so they can pay the government on your behalf. They can withhold those amounts and pay it as soon as you are able to provide them your social.
  10. As I'm sure you've noticed, many of these documents never get updated. If anything, Montreal is taking LONGER to issue the visa and send the passports back out than they historically used to. You're also likely to be told by your interviewing CO that it likely will take 2 weeks, should there be no hiccups. ^^^This
  11. Kara and Guillermo did look gorgeous and I have hope that they'll actually be ok together for the long term.
  12. Personally, given how long basically ANYTHING takes with immi, I'd be filing the I-485, the I-765 and the I-131. There aren't additional costs when filing concurrently. Best to cover your behind than not.
  13. As stated above, it takes a bit of time. Most people have to wait about 24-48 hours before they are able to register their appointments in Montreal.
  14. Can you please fill out your timeline? https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=421923 You will interview at the Consulate, they will take your passport and complete additional background checks before issuing your visa and returning your passport. There is always the possibility of being issued a 221g or the dreaded DS-5535. So no, you will not be able to pick up your passport on the same day. It's also why people who are going through consular processing are instructed not to book travel or make plans to move until after they have received their passport back from the Consulate.
  15. If you jump onto that thread, take a look at the FAQ's (there's a link in my siggy) and you can ask Hawk Riders to add you to the spreadsheet since your timeline is already filled out
  16. How do you plan to reenter Canada? Do you have a citizenship certificate or NEXUS?
  17. Does SHE want to change her last name? If so, she needs to change her passport first and you'll want that done before the interview, which isn't for a while. Fill out paperwork as her ID currently is and indicate at the interview that she wants her name changed, as per her new passport. If she doesn't update that passport, the greencard will be issued in her maiden name and you'll have to pay the fees to change her newly issued greencard. It's a rip off IMO. It's a domino effect from there with SSN, DL...just a mess.
  18. Nah, the general advice is the be acutely aware that she could be denied entry at any time (any non-citizen or LPR potentially could) and that she'll need to demonstrate strong ties to indicate intent to return to Canada to finish the immigration process. Be honest with CBP and you're unlikely to have any issues. If they ask, them you're re-establishing domicile as required by the immigration process and you'll be waiting for your wife's LPR to be issued. CBP can be jerks, but they also know the process.
  19. In general, there are a lot of user paid services that are being completely mis (or completely absently) managed. If I'm paying, be it small or big like immigration, where's the service I paid for? Total first world problem here (not belittling anyone stuck in this I-5535 Groundhog Day nightmare), but I can't update my NEXUS online to add my greencard. The only NEXUS offices open are on the State side at the northern border, COVID is still being used as an excuse for the offices in Canada and yet, it's a service I pay for. The amount of hoops I've jumped through and the amount of security vetting between various visas, my greencard and my original NEXUS application - you'd think this shouldn't be so hard. Yet, it somehow is. Epic fail, all around. Those of you filing your WoM, sincerest good luck. You're 100% correct that it shouldn't cost additional fees from an unrelated lawyer service to be reunified with a spouse because the government can't get their proverbial sh!t together.
  20. It can be risky. Echoing others - she'll need to demonstrate strong ties to Canada. Lease agreement for a property, employment letter, return ticket to get back to Canada. CBP can still deny her entry if they think she's going to stick around in the States.
  21. I'm guessing you weren't aware, but information for the other poster asking about your experience - typically, you can still attend your original interview when stuck in an experience where no medical dates are available, unless instructed otherwise by the consulate. The Consulate will put you into AP until your medical is completed and they've received the results.
  22. How challenging is it going to be for you to get baby's passport once baby arrives?
  23. I'm a little confused here...does your son qualify for CRBA or does he have an I-130 of his own?
  24. Iguazu is bucket list! I have an Argentinian friend and colleague who's never been. I told her we will go together
