Today I cried tears Of grief because I have a special needs child who was out of control and I was so saddened and devastated.
Shortly after, I received a text that my VAWA was approved. I am so grateful to Allah! I filed in January 2019. No RFE

I wish all of you the same happiness. This isn’t real.
question: while my green card application is pending, can I travel with just VAWA? Like by applying for advanced parole or something ?

Alhamdulilah, I am so happy for you! Praying for your speedy green card inshaAllah

Although I got mine about a month of approval but the pattern has changed, based on the experience of folks here..it can take anywhere from 30days-90days like @Shroy123 mentioned as well...You can request it for sure..I've seen few people do and got response. Just that it's kinda still early for you..probably some administrative processing still going on..you'll surely get it.👍

Thank you. I wait a little bit more.  I hope I don’t have to wait for 90 days though because it’s whats holding me back from filling for my aos. I don’t have the privilege of having my I 485 being transferred to my local office after my Vawa approval so I can’t move forward with my AOS journey without the notice.

Vawa approval notice after ead c31 usually get it within 3 months..

I really pray it doesn’t take that long because unlike most people here who filed concurrently. I need that approval notice to file my aos and they took 2 years to approve my Vawa, I had to get my congressman and ombudsman to help. I hope I don’t have to wait too long for the approval notice

  4. Hello everyone. I wanted to know if I can request my approval notice from Vermont since I have my ead c31 which to my understanding means that my Vawa has been approved. It’s been almost 3 three weeks since I got the new card production message. I need that notice to file for my AOS and also terminate my current status which is withholding of deportation. I wouldn’t worry too much about it if I didn’t need it to file for my AOS. USCIS tend to take their time sometimes if we don’t send them a reminder lol and I don’t want that to be the case for my approval notice

Thanks for this piece, i am in the same situation at the moment, getting response to my rfe together. and it is hard because most public offices are closed, i cant even get police report. thank you.

You’re welcome. I’m glad it helped you, I know it’s not an easy thing responding to a RFE especially during this pandemic but there is a lot of amazing people on this forum who are very helpful. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and we will all do our best to help you. You are going to come out of this victorious

    Hello,

Hope you all safe and in good health, may god save us all from this pendamic.

My RFE deadline is near and unfortunately i couldn't collect much evidence to prove bonofide marriage, my spouse had all the pics held and no insurance no lease no joint bank account,

all i had was police report now for RFE i don't have any much people in US to help me, will my affidavits from home country work ?

I had the same RFE and like you I didn’t have much. We had a joint account but he emptied that a few months into our marriage so Uscis didn’t accept that. I had two affidavits from family members who who knew about the marriage from here in the states and one from my mom from my country, she’s never been here but she knew about the marriage and she spoke with my ex husband over the phone a few times. She wrote all that down in her affidavit. I rewrote my personal affidavit, this time Very detailed. I started from how we met, the courtship, when he met my family and friends. when I met his family, what we liked to do, what we had in common, what our future plans were. Our engagement, our wedding day, our honeymoon. The gifts we bought each other, when we lived together. Our daily routines. I also wrote why we didn’t have any joint things together, this was because he was so controlling. Like yours, my ex kept most of my things when we broke and I never got them back because he said he threw them out. I wrote all that in my affidavit. I also sent in text messages from him when times were good. He used to send me messages about how much he loved me. I just got approved last week. Pour your heart out in your personal affidavit and whatever you don’t have explain why. I believe you will be approve

Oh! Though it was unfortunate for them to sent the RFE so late like on 18th month, but they made it approved on 25th month which is like 2 years and one month. I believe in the worst case they are gonna approve it lately within 2 years....Thanks God!.......In my case, RFE requested was on 2nd month after my filing and submitted those requirements and its been 19th month running as on date. Hope I will have to wait any day from now until 5 months :(

I pray you get approve soon. Don’t give up hope, everything will work out for you. I understand your frustration, it was hard for me but in the end it all worked out

Use the link in the post above. You are an "eligible noncitizen." "You are a “battered immigrant-qualified alien” who is a victim of abuse by your citizen or permanent resident spouse, or you are the child of a person designated as such under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)." https://studentaid.gov/understand-aid/eligibility/requirements/non-us-citizens

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it

  9. When requesting the ombudsman assistance, can I fill the online form?  Or do I have to download the form and fill it out because I’m a VAWA applicant?  Has anyone here done it online to inquire about the status of their VAWA? Please help! I am requesting their assistance about my case because I’m April 2018 filler and I want to do it the way so I don’t have any more delays

I had reached out to the ombudsman man I could not get any updates on my i765 after waiting for over a year for the EAD. I filled out the form and they emailed me they received it and within two weeks of doing that I got my EAD approval and then the ombudsman office emailed my confirmation I got the EAD. I know it’s a totally different petition but before that I had contacted my congressman man sign the release form and all that and they were no help I was calling them for update and the person that had my case never seem to be in office. They are a mess.

Thank you! I will be reaching out to them next week then. I hope it works for me too

    Hello,

my advise to you would be to get in contact with your congressman or the ombudsman (I can say because of my personal experience I think the ombudsman would be more effective). But they are working on 2018 filers so I believe you should get a update soon. And getting a new Prima Facie that ends in 180 days don’t necessarily mean you won’t get it before the 180. In January they sent my a prima facie that ends in 180 days and I got approved this month. But rest assure your time is coming 🙏🏾

How was your experience with the ombudsman? I am to reach out to them next week because my case will be out of processing time. And I have already reached out to my congressman and they couldn’t find any updates

Why don't you pressure your congressman to enquire on your behalf? Although it's not unusual, some folks waited longer...if you can get proactive from a distance please do!👍

Thank you so much for always replying to me. I truly appreciate you. I asked them last month and they said USCIS is still working on my case. I don’t know why it’s taking them so long.

It helps to have someone to listen to you and provide feedback.

Outside therapy, surround yourself with people who give you a good reflection of yourself.

Keep that hope, and keep the faith that every day is one step closer.

Thank you so much! That’s great advice, I will keep it in mind. That’s why I come to this forum, everyone is so kind and understanding. Thank you all so much. May God bless us all
