Quick question - you mentioned it was approved on the spot, but your timeline says it took a few days to be approved. Was there a delay before it showed approved online? Our IO in Washington DC said we were approved on Tuesday but nothing has changed in our online status yet...

Hey 🙂 Yes, the officer told us she approved us, but told us it might take a couple of days to reflect online because she wasn't sure when she would have a chance to change it in the system!

You were scheduled for two appointments but only one was needed.  Subtle but important difference.   It is possible your second appointment was a redo because the first didn't "take" or it was an error.

In fact. If you have recent biometrics on file from a totally different application, the USCIS  has been known to use the "on file" biometrics rather than have the applicant come in again and again and again.

It doesn’t matter what is „needed“ in your opinion, if USCIS tells me I need 2 appointments, I need to go to both appointments.

We had one appointment.   Period.  The appointment notice only referenced the i485 and i765.  If two appointments were needed then she should never have received her card.

In addition, many of those people you reference have reported going to the second appointment and being told it was an error.

Two appointments were needed - and then I received my combo card. But thanks for being so friendly and overall helpful, you little ray of sunshine in this thread.

    Hi

I got my biometrics appointment for I-485 and I-765 today. My I-131 application is not mentioned in the appointment letter. Since you experienced a similar situation 6 months ago, I wonder if you went for two seperate biometrics appointments or one appointment (even though I 131 was not mentioned as a case) was sufficient. Thank you for your help.

    Hello

Unfortunately, I had to go to a second biometrics appointment about 3 weeks later, but after that second appointment, my EAD card came very quickly.

    Best of luck to you

So I just spent an hour online with a live representative via emma who didnt help. I called because it has been two weeks since i received the notification that my interview was scheduled but i have not received the letter. So went through the regular security questions via the representative, when they asked me for address i gave it to them. Then when they asked for my previous address i knew they probably didnt update my new address even though they sent me new address approval over a month ago. She said it takes a month to update the address on their systems? To cut a long story short she told me to check online again and read the notifications there, I told her it doesnt say anything and to wait for the post. She told me that they havent sent a letter yet and it was just a notification that my case had been scheduled 🙄🙄🙄 dunno why its so hard with the USCIS. Now trying to call and speak to someone but having trouble getting through... whats the new secret to speak to a person?

Did you have USPS send your mail to your new address? I was in the same boat, but USPS forwarded it, so it just took a while longer. I received my Notice on Day 11 after my status online updated.

Help. I am SO confused! I read in an AOS portal, coming from K1 and adjusting status after marriage, the documents I only needed was I-485, I-944, I-765 and I-864. Here I do not see I-944 but instead see I-131. Can someone please clarify?

I-131 is the form for Advanced Parole, so if you want to travel before you get your greencard, you should file it.

I-944 has been a bit of a confusing thing, it used to be required, then it wasn´t, and from what it looks like on the official USCIS website, it is required now again.

  7. Hey Guys! Just wanted to let you know that my EAD was ordered to be produced yesterday.

I filed in March, got my NOA1 in April.

Did my first set of biometrics (all ten fingers) on August 14th, my second biometrics for I-131 (just my right pointer finger) on September 1.

    Yesterday it was finally approved!!

Does anyone know when I should expect the physical card in the Mail?

I got my biometrics done last week for AoS. The invitation letter didn't specifically say it's ONLY for I-485. Never got a separate appointment letter for my I-131 and it's been nearly 5 months. All my bio data is already in the system. So I just assume, they will use it for I-131 too.

What is your filing date for I-131?

I filed my I-131 together with I-485 and I-765 in March, my NOA1 was on April 14th. When did you file?

I'd say it might be worth asking the biometrics technician while you're there (not the person at reception). What code does it say for your I-485/I-765 on the invitation letter (top right)?

I did ask, but she wouldn´t let me do it. She said I would just have to come back.

same here, they actually gave our 485/765 in one state. and the 131 the next day in a different state. (we had a change of address and i guess it didnt update on the 131)  contacted the USCIS agent and they said just take all the letters to the closest/first appointment and they will do it all together there.   we got it completed yesterday and its already updated on the case tracker for all 3.

What I am worried about is that I´ll get my bios done on Friday, and then get another invite letter next week or so. I am going to ask on Friday if it is possible to get the bios done for I-131 too, even without a second invite letter. We will see .. I guess this is all a learning process, for us and for the workers at USCIS.

I have 2 separate appointments too and recently asked about it here on VJ. I was advised to just take both appointment letters on your first scheduled appointment and asked to do them together...and that's exactly what I did. I got both stamped on the same day

I don´t have the one for I-131 scheduled yet, thats why I am worried. But, I just called USCIS and they said they won´t schedule me for a second set of biometrics, so yay for that!

  11. Hey guys! I have my biometrics appointment on Friday, the 14th of August, in the Washington DC office. On the invitation letter, it only said biometrics are for I-485 and I-765, but not for I-131. I know that EAD and AP come in a combocard, but recently I´ve seen people post in Facebook AOS groups that they had to go do Biometrics twice. Is this actually a thing? In my mind, it makes absolutely no sense.

Also, I plan on taking a trip inside the US soon. If my second biometrics appointment is while I´m gone, and I reschedule it, how long will the rescheduling take?

    Thank you guys!

I am active duty and my husband is awaiting his biometrics appointment, do you think we should call and inquire?

You can! I only call the military hotline because it usually has less waiting time than the normal hotline.

You being active duty doesn't expedite your husbands case though, only if you're pcsing overseas or deploying. Seeing as you didn't file until May, you probably have to wait for a little while longer before you get your biometrics letter because from what I've heard they're roughly going in order!
