I started my journey Sept 2016. Today my Senator's office reached out to me that my interview is scheduled for March 30th. I can't believe this journey is finally coming to an end. My entire journey stared speeding up since I discovered this amazing support group July 2020. I have been able to bypass my lawyer (who does nothing btw) and contacted congressman and senators as well as apply for my EAD and AP renewals.

You all have been so supportive. Thank you. And for all those still waiting or just starting. This support group(as I call it) will give you more info than most lawyers. All thanks to @sandranj for all the awesome legal advice. And to every member od this group encouraging people based on experiences. Thank you. I also promise to help others as much as I can. God bless you all

HELP!!! I’m a Sept 2018 filer and still nothing. I asked help from Senator, Congressman, Ombudsman. Today I emailed my attorney’s office if they could inquire for me. They said I should pay my remaining balance first before they do an inquiry. I was furious!!! First of all, they have changed my lawyer twice already and the lawyer that’s handing my case is not with the firm anymore. They never told me until I emailed them for an update a month ago and now they want me to pay the remaining balance just for an inquiry!!! Absurd!!! There’s just so much incompetence on their part and I dont think im getting the quality of service that I paid for.

How do I get them out of my case? What should I do? The lawyer that filed my case is not their anymore and I dont think it makes sense for them to put my case on a new lawyer since we’re just waiting for a decision. Pls help!!! Any suggestions

I want to add on this quote, my abuser had my  I-485 receipt because we filed together and use to track it, Vawa was already filed, My attorney contact Vermont Service Center and told them Not to update at all my held I-485 because my abuser was threating me and tracking it, To please follow privacy law. This work they internally created a T5 file (No idea what it is) officer told me at the interview. My i-485 online status never updated everything is thru mail to my attorney office. We can be protected.

Hi, all I had my green card interview on the 25th Jan and was approved. So this is how it was. First I should advice everyone to be on the lookout for their mails as my online status never changed from june 2018. I got my interview letter on the 19th of jan and only had 4 days that includes the Saturday (23rd) to do my medicals and God knows how terrified and anxious I was. I only paid $178 (NJ) for my physicals as for the vaccines I used my previous shots ( that I did when I had the ( I-130)as proof that I had the vaccines I only had to do the flu shot and blood work to show  my immunity. Luckily again my results were out the next day. Well on the the 25th I went to my interview waited about 56 min to be called in ( I was so nervous kept checking the time,) Finally Am called in. The IO swore me Questions
    1. what’s your full name
    2. Date of birth
    3. whats you’re address
    4. About 6 yes/no questions
    5. Asked if I have Kids...said Yes 1 IO congratulations
    6. Are you still married to this guy. Yes...IO get a divorce from that guy and move on
IO then excuses himself goes to another office I over hear him speak to someone else... am like Oh my God now what... He comes back and asks is this a safe address to send your documents I said yes Sir, then he says well we’re good here if you here from me within a week then it’s not good if you don’t expect a green card in 2 weeks. He says he will look at my file in the afternoon I said thank you he walked me out. I go home and boom you’re APPROVED. Got an email no text updates. That was on Monday then Friday I got my approval letter now waiting for the card.
I could swear it me less than 8min in there it was so fast. I wish everyone nothing but the best and God’s blessings. My file date was May 2018 , No prima facie, I-360  Approval Oct 7th 2020, interview 25th Jan 2021. One RFE , GMC, and proof of abuse.... my only evidence was my written statement and two from friends nothing else, and see what God did. With God everything is possible have faith stay strong.

Hello fam and happy new year!

I hope everyone is healthy and positive. I wanted to share that after spending a good month abroad, I returned to the states with no issues, traveling with advance parole while waiting for green card adjudication. I did go through the "little room" where they verify the advance parole. I had a nice talk with the CBP officer, who even asked me why was my green card taking so long. He admitted that this status of pending/waiting for green card was kind of a limbo. The officer did warn me that even if we were able to travel anytime we wanted while our advance parole was valid, they were currently revoking the advance parole to any person traveling to the countries currently banned for travel due to covid 19. Example: Brasil. He said "wherever you go, do not travel to brasil, because when returning to the states, we will revoke your advance parole and send you back to your country". So I though of sharing this piece of information to whoever is having travel plans.

    Update:

Kids Medical Completed.....They had to get updated shots.  One month to interview.  Nervous and stressed but it is in God's Hands.

I made a checklist of 10 things that I wanted to accomplish since I filled VAWA. (Part of Therapeutic healing process)  I am proud to say, I have three things left after my kids arrive.  Proud of myself - I will say it again and 100 times, I would not be in my current head space without Trauma Counseling.

    Hello Everyone,

Happy New Year to all and I hope you’re all staying safe. Update: I had my beautiful little boy, married my best friend and filed to update my name on my green card by myself, versus waiting until citizenship to change my last name. For everyone that’s going through the journey, there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Don’t let negative thoughts or fear consume you. Congratulations to all the new approvals. Remember every victory is one step closer to your journey. I have a feeling that things will move faster with the new president. Please stay safe with the pandemic and know you got this.

Hi guys I'm not a frequent person here on this site I just browse through occasionally. But I had to leave my info here so persons will feel encouraged and know that their time of approval is coming. Just stay strong and don't just depend on your lawyers to push your case for you because you are just another case that they have even though they maybe trying their best to assist you. Reach out to your representatives because they'll assist you. Just google your nearest representatives their information will come up! Wishing everyone a speedy approval.

    Dear family!
Today I have got my green card! I cannot describe what I feel after several years of stress, uncertainty about tomorrow, and fear. I feel as I can breathe again and live a full life.
I want to say thank everyone who answered my questions and shared their information that was very useful. And thank this VAWA group, all this time I didn’t feel myself alone.
I want to share my experience, maybe it can help somebody.
    My timeline:
    06/11/2018 – I-360, I-485
    02/24/2020 – received EAD-31 (by VAWA)
    03/27/2020 – I-485 transferred to another office
11/27/2020 – My ex-attorney from Pennsylvania where we lived before got the invitation for the interview on 12/28/2020 only for my son (13 years old (although my new attorney changed my address 1,5 years ago when I moved to Georgia and got my C-9 card and C-31 through my new attorney).
12/28/2020 – AOS interview in Pennsylvania
I have never got a VAWA approval notice, any other letters from USCIS, any online updates, and didn’t get the invitation for the interview for myself. My son didn’t get an update online about his interview, so be careful when you move to the other place, be sure you can get your correspondence.
I heard that possible we may not have the interview in the state where we don’t live anymore but I knew also that we have to come to the interview otherwise they will deny our cases. So, I decided to go where and at least to be sure that they finally change our address and after we will be waiting for our interviews in Georgia where we live now, and to figure out where is my documents and my VAWA approval letter.
When we came to the interview with my son, I was so lucky because the officer said that she found my documents and we can both have the interview, and in spite hat are from the other state, decided to conduct our interview. We were without an attorney. Our interview was very smooth and easy. The officer was very kind and friendly. She asked for our medical forms (I-693), we did it two weeks before the interview. She asked my name, the names of my parents if I work and where, if I married, I said that I divorced and gave her my divorce decree,  my new address, how many times were I married, and about 6-7 yes/no questions. Asked my son just a couple of questions about his name, the name of me, and what grade he is studying. In the end, the officer said that everything looking good and asked which address to send our green cards to. She said usually it takes 2-4 weeks to update the information, make decisions, and send the green cards. I asked her when my VAWA case was approved because I have never got approval notice and she said in February (when I got my C-31 card).
After the interview, my online status started to change (before this the last update was on 03/22/2020 that I-485 transferred to another office, no update about the interview) :
12/28/2020 -  Your interview was completed , and your case must be reviewed
12/29/2020 – We ordered your new card
    30/12/2020 – We approved your Form I-485
31/12/2020 – We mailed your new card your Form I-485 (great present for New Year)
01/06/2021 – The green card in my hands

I wish good luck to everybody and a faster approval solution in your cases!

Hello Everyone. I wanted to share my timeline with you all.
First of I came here with a J1 Visa. I arrived here in August 2014 and by January 3, 2015 I met my abusive narc Ex husband. We bought a house here in the USA and I sold my apartment in Colombia to help him buy our house that ended up being in only his name. We got Married October that same year and I left the house for the last time March 2017 after what seem to me years and years of physical, emotional and sexual abuse. I went to the Spouse abuse resource center where I found help and they took my case. I filed separately because I had my J1 current. My J1 expired June 2020 and I received my new card on January, 2020. Now I am in the process of filing my GC. I know I waited a long time to file for the GC but I did not have the money. This past week I was finally able to pay the fee and my attorney is putting all the documents together to send the I-765 to replace my EAD, advance parole and I-485

    Here is my timeline.

April 10, 2018 My I-360 was received and the filing fee was waived  March 11, 2019 prima facie October 11, 2019 RFE January 9, 2020 RFE document received by Uscis January 17, 2020 new card was ordered January 22, 2020 card was mailed January 24, 2020 card delivered June 4, 2020 Case Was Approved   Hopefully soon all the documents will be sent. My only concern is the my medical records were signed by my doctor more than 60 days ago. I think I might have to do ask for medical record again but It's ok. How long do you guys think the GC will take? Maybe 2 more years??? Well, as we say in my country. Quien espera lo mucho espera lo poco. I waited for a long time and 2 years is just a lil bit more time.   I love this Forum and after lurking here for 2 year I finally join to let you know my timeline. Anyone with a similar case?  Have a good one everyone!

It doesnt seem to be a mix up.

The Ombudsman is telling you they looked into your case and theres no issue with it so they are closing your request for help.

The local office sent you an interview notice. You need to attend the interview.  It seems you previously sent a AOS package with your spouse (the 130-485). And you had an interview for the 485 from that joint filing in March. Im assuming you went to that interview alone and advised them you were filing VAWA and asked them to hold your 485 right? Then your 360 was approved in June. When the 360 was approved your case got sent to NBC. They check it before sending it to the local office. NBC saw a birth certificate was missing and RFEd you for it. You submitted it and NBC then sent your case to the local office. Your local office (Charlotte) has decided that they are going to interview you again, most likely because your previous interview was at a different local office (Baltimore) and possibly because this 485 is based on an approved 360 where it was previously based on a 130. You are very lucky to have your interview set so quickly! Charlotte got your case in August apx so thats about 3 months ago. Some people wait 1 yr or more for interview slots.
