  1. What i see is the cost of K1 and the AOS afterward is now so much more expensive that it makes the CR1 a much better choice If these new fees mean less K1's and then in a year (2 as they are behind) there will be less I 485's freeing up US offices to complete other petitions common citizens already can not afford things and that's why we see joint sponsorship needs
  2. 11. Naturalization and Citizenship Fees This final rule expands eligibility for paying half of the regular fee for Form N–400, Application for Naturalization. An applicant with household income at or below 400 percent of Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG) may pay half price for their Application for Naturalization. See8 CFR 106.2(b)(3)(ii).
  3. April's fools Joke but serious But the following is the explanation Incorporating biometric services costs into the main benefit fee and removing the separate biometric services fee in most cases (Temporary Protected Status and the filings accepted on behalf of the Executive Office for Immigration Review are exceptions, where the rule proposes a separate biometric services fee of $30 instead of the current $85) there is a lot more changes in the fee structure other than just the fees as explained in the January Federal Registry https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2024/01/31/2024-01427/us-citizenship-and-immigration-services-fee-schedule-and-changes-to-certain-other-immigration
  4. If the system truly worked the way it was set up biometrics would be done at ROC stage and then not needed for N400 applying so close behind the ROC interview but they do use the biometrics to verify applicants when u go into an interview for anything even if its only 1 fingerprint when u register at the desk for your appointment(s) I would think doing new bio"s (fingerprints and photo) is especially important when someone has to go 5 years for N400 as appearances change a lot over time/ My Adil lost his hair/he's going to kill me for writing that but over time people change a lot with weight gain or lost, even having to wear glasses is a big change
  5. Yes, if u didn't meet 200% of poverty the N 400 was $320
  6. Not as bad as the $2820 they proposed for the AOS but what i don't see is I 485 allows for person to add other I 131, 1 765 free so, adding up the I 485, I 131, and I 765 will cost $2540 or $2590 if u do the I 765 by paper. Looks like they were only allowed to do the 26% increase so they separated the 3 petitions to get what USCIS wanted. waiting to see if the will allow the $1440 proposed for I 485 to add the other forms free. I can see people trying to just do the I 485 to save money and needing to travel for an emergency and getting caught with the higher fee for the advanced parole to travel and trying to make an appointment with US office.
  7. What is said here is so important as when u get the notice , u have 30 days to respond (can't remember if that is 30 calendar or business days) and my NOID said 'from date of this mailing which meant a week had already gone by and if u could know what the issues were now, u could start getting facts together bene knows what CO asked bene knows how the CO acted to each question
  8. Saying you , the USC, is suffering financial loss can bite u in the butt you have 3 more fees to pay out once the case goes to NVC and an approved visa fee for I 864 fee for ds 260 and if approved the green card fee there is also money needed for travel to medical exam and interview, the exam itself and the airfare to bring bene to the USA this process isn't cheap
  9. its so very true when i first joined Facebook and didn't know how to go private, i had several proposals As soon as i said I accept as i would love to live in your beautiful country , the conversations ended There were many ways to call their bluff but that one worked the fastest
  10. Your NOIR or NOID will take about 6 months to arrive to u One, you can respond to with actual proof that the issues bought up by the CO are not valid The bene is suppose to know everything about u but that is just about impossible so if the CO said "when did someone die?" or "when did the USC divorce?" If u have an email to show u told him and he said ""I will probably never remember that" it suffices NOIR OR NOID require actual proofs not just a say-so response I did an appeal ($110) when i receive the paper (form enclosed to do the appeal) It was well over a year till the immigration court No lawyer for my appeal the court responded with my notice that the marriage was declared bona fida BIG BUT the court said i could reapply I would not do the appeal if i had know i could reapply and respond to the NOID with a new application What u do need to understand is Nigeria is well known for having false documents and u can not overcome those if any were submitted. u may need to spend some quality time in Nigeria to help your case I added my spouse to tax returns, deed to my house , my bank account and a utility bill to show we were starting commingling finances. there is a good list on following site that lists things that make CO think marriage is fraud/ read them to see if u fit https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/red-flags-that-make-uscis-suspect-marriage-fraud.html Whatever u do, it will take time and test your patience so u need prayers and strength Good luck to u
  11. the name of the green card should be as listed on ds 260 /she can mention to CO at interview or just ask
  12. Refused is what CEAC says till the visa is actually printed and issued the CO could have issued u the CR1 and u traveled after the 2 year anniversary CBP could have made notation IR1 or USCIS would have changed it to IR1 and 10 year card
  13. u will list birth and passport and on the form it asks for all other names used so list all that have been formally used
  14. good point and in that case i would take a copy and keep it to protect my future N 400
  15. On the I 864 u do have to claim him as part of your household Think of it this way, I 134 and I 864 have to claim fiancee or spouse on the form as household size even though they are not in USA yet when it comes to tax filing, he doesn't have to pay taxes on foreign income so he would not file separately at all so, why wouldn't u claim him and take the extra tax deduction 1 senior 5 year LPR just took out Part B only to cover Dr visits , outpatient care and equipment/she forego the big Part A premium
  16. These are being sent out by county , state officials and both republican and democratic parties, trying to make sure people who are able to vote register and/or learn how to do it. Many people , believe it or not, don't know they need to register to vote or where there voting district is/ I get mail to vote for the mayor of city near me even though i don't live there and can't vote for the city mayor why send these out ? because some just don't get out and vote. Even with the last 2020 election that was so close , only 66% of the eligible voters turned out ignore it and do not register till u become a USC if that is your decision
  17. when an immigrant says "my family is poor" or "there are no jobs here" automatically it should send up a red flag to a USC as the signal is given "i want to get out of here " that is why in poor countries CO's look at education and past work history I am going by my own experience with a K1 and what we all read daily on VJ. OP the best u can do to help is talk talk talk daily and let him know every little and big thing about u, ur family and ur life in the USA Quality time together to prove a real relationship really helps and a 10 day or 2 week vacation to meet is often suspect OP you have my prayers for the upcoming interview and for a good life together in the US
  18. but u will be time of interview as u will return in 11th February which is coming soon otherwise u would use Pakistan address
  19. there is a yearly limit on EB2 visas issued so u wait on visa availability Approximately 40,000 EB2 visas will be given each year. Additionally, no more than 7% of EB2 visas can go to applicants from one country. This means that if you are a national of a country with many applicants, the wait to receive a visa will be longer.
  20. How long was your visit? former post about high fraud countries this is what TBoneTX wrote While acknowledging Gary's true point, I believe that Diana's answer is the most accurate of several good replies here, si man. Earlier in my process, I asked an immigration attorney (who had served as a CO himself in Yemen and someplace in the Caribbean) the question that the OP has. He said, "Any poor country." Think about that. And my attorney said "all African countries "
  21. it says interview will be in Germany. Will u have a residency in Germany at time of interview? then i would use that one if u want to change to Italy and have residency and plan to be there for studies, use that one both addresses will be listed with dates in travel history
  22. Recrecreational and medical mariguana are legal in Michigan they just need to know the states like Indiana, Pa that aren't legal when they travel and not to take it on a plane or into Canada https://medicalmarijuana.procon.org/legal-medical-marijuana-states-and-dc/
  23. HInts: Apply for the SS card within the first few weeks marry and apply AOS ASAP as the fees are expected to go from $1225 to $2820 for the I 485, I 131 and I 765 (no charge for the I 130) What i read is the fee increase is projected to happen in April
  24. all your family members plus his 4 , so are u married and have children? If its a F1 student visa, you would not sponsor/ he would apply Brother is a F4 visa for a USC what is your priority date? It would say on the receipt for your petition
  25. you are expecting an RFE? did you sign the petition? that's one we often see proof of meeting in person really no way to help u with your response till u know what USCIS IS asking for
