Who gets the service contracts in Memphis and Atlanta?

I have had civil disturbance training as well, and my old unit of eight plus years had some experience dealing with riots in Los Angeles and elsewhere. I learned a few things, one of which is police do not do riot control well. Police do crowd control well. Police are good at intimidation and barricades. When the intimidation no longer works, and the barricades fail, the police tend to run away. That is when the crowd is at its most dangerous. That is when the burning and looting begins.

I have NEVER had it happen when a man was around, at least in America. However when I was in Italy, it happened whether I was with a man or not. It was disgusting and not flattering in the least. And it isn't about being flattering, it's about power and dominance.
Women can tell the difference between skeeze and flattery. I am not immune to a charming compliment made with sincere and goodnatured intent. We are subjected to appraisal of our looks from the time we're little girls. Any fule kno what's a nasty come on and what's a compliment.

What is baffling to me is this sequence-
-Test is given, Blacks on average don't score up to par.
-Some race hustler sees the results, uses some bass-akward logic to accuse the test rather than those unprepared to take it.
-The municipality caves because there is no way they are going to question our national religion that all people should perform equally.
-Willing ears hear of the charges and then go forth repeating the "findings" without ever seeing the test or even doing a little critical reasoning.
-Meanwhile people who worked harder to study for the test get bumped for a lower performing applicant (who passed but with a lower score).

Exactly. We move almost 4 years ago to another state and into a smaller town than what we were accustomed to in Southern California. My two boys were 9 and 2 yrs. old at the time. We knew almost no one, but from my son's school and by volunteer coaching, we quickly began to meet great people. I think of all the people who have helped shape my oldest, who is now 13. From the school principal to his math teacher, his other coaches, the dads of his friends, etc.
Some people, however, keep to themselves. They don't want their kids mingling with others. They don't want their neighbors to know their business, etc. That's where the danger lies because that's the type of environment where kids get abused without anyone noticing. Shed the light instead cursing the darkness. Be part of your community. Help shape another child's life and you may never know just how much you help them grow up to be whole beings.
ETA: I just thought of one of the boys my son met through basketball. He's the child of a single mother and was conceived from a rape. One of the other families sort of took him under their wings, to be there for him, take him to church, etc. He also has a big brother. I coached him last season. I know he was a bit envious of my son because he knew that my son was not mine biologically. Hopefully, the village approach will pay off as he reaches adulthood.
