It's pretty clearly stated all over the NVC website.  Visa received means you have it in your hands.  Until then there's no guarantee you'll get it by a certain date.

    After the Interview

    Important Notice

Do not sell your house, car or property,  resign from your job or make non-refundable flight or other travel arrangements until you have received your immigrant visa.

Well to be honest, we are not too concerned about the flight or her quitting her job. We are just curious as to how often something like this happens.

The only way to proceed is to wait. Nothing you can do. It is strongly advised on the US government site not to make plans or arrangements prior to a visa being issued.

Because things happen. Maybe something happened with final processing. Maybe the computer servers crash. Maybe the visa printing machines broke down. The CO is not the only person or the final say in the approval. There are still final steps afterwards even if the CO tells you you are approved.

Point being you will never know and that is why a visa should not be assumed to be approved before it is physically in your hands and you can touch it, feel it, and check it to make sure everything is accurate.

You are absolutely right. We got carried away and put all our trust on a verbal approval. We should have waited for the physical document before making big decisions.

  3. Hello everyone,

Just when my wife and I thought this process was over we are back in limbo again. My wife had her interview on July 23. She was asked a couple questions submitted all the required documents and the CO told her that everything looked fine and she was "Approved". Her passport was taken and she was told to be back in a week to pick up the visa. The day before the scheduled pick up she gets a call from the embassy informing her that the visa will not be ready yet. That really caught us by surprise, last minute too. We already had plans for her to fly in this weekend and she even gave her 2 weeks notice at work. Any advise as to how to proceed or what to expect will be appreciated. Thank you.

Correction. His PD was May 2017

it make sense he was in Line for 2 yrs.

@alpha97 it’s seem two months wait for you. From Jan to Mar. interesting. Mine should come one soon now

Glad ppl are sharing their PD. That’s the factor here.

Yeah just be patient guys. Some cases are faster than others and most are typically completed within 5 months unless more evidence is required.

  5. -PD September 2018

    -Naturalized November 2018

-Sent upgrade letter to CSC and Phoenix Lockbox (not recommended) on November 2018

-Didnt get a reply from them.

-Called early January, apparently they did not receive the upgrade request. Rep put in upgrade request for me via phone. (Fastest and most effective method)

-January 21 - Upgrade Approved. Received email saying notice of action could now take 5 months from upgrade date.

    -March 26 - i130 Petition Approved

-May 10 - NVC Case creation

    -May 16 - CC

    -June 17 - IL

30-60 days is the usually wait time for an interview in the IR1/CR1 CATAGORY.  If your wait as been longer then that I suggest not calling NVC but directly contact the embassy. I'm only repeating information that was passed on to me by someone who works in an embassy. Calling NVC really does nothing.

Yup, embassy is the one holding the dates.
