  1. Social security offices have to open at some point, right? My wife just got her green card in the mail but we don't want to send it, along with her passport, in the mail. One SS phone rep told us they "couldn't guarantee" we'd get them back. Different phone reps have told us different things. It doesn't give us much confidence. We need to get a local driver's license (we're in Illinois) and open a bank account. This is super annoying.

Cant even file joint tax return,  i am delaying that part also

we filed with my wife's ITIN number as we have for years, and as a result were exempt from the stimulus payments. Which feels intentionally cruel. I mean -- it would make sense not to make a payment for ITIN holders, but at least make the corresponding stimulus payments to the family members who are U.S. citizens. Instead, the entire family gets zero for having one non-citizen family member.

Actually your wife still can work, she can apply jobs, just when she got the job offer, she needs to talk to the HR to generate the offer letter and SSN dire needs letter address SSA, then you can make the appt with the SSA mentioning that you need to SSN to start the new job, then you can get your SSN within two weeks.

This is a real pain. SS offices are closed, so we haven't been able to get a SSN for my wife. They say we can mail our documents in, but they can't guarantee we'll get them back. It would be a catastrophe to lose the passport with the visa in it, especially since we haven't received the green card yet.

Ok.on the ceac site..it won’t allow to edit application before but now since it’s over a year it say the IV is reopened and give me option to edit and submit again.it still shows the fee for IV is paid so I don’t have to pay again..am not sure if I should wait on response from USCIS then consular before I submit IV ...cos if I re-submit now will it schedule me for an interview with consular?

I'm not sure in your case. Do you have a lawyer you can ask? I'd definitely recommend getting professional advice. You could also call the visa center hotline to ask.

Marlomx , any news on your case ? Just checked the processing time thank god its moving fast its already posted November 17.

I would like to  thank everyone who keep posted .keep posting updates would like to wish everyone the best of luck on there case as we are all waiting for great news soon .

We got a message this week from the Ciudad Juarez consulate calling us in for a 2nd interview. Which is a good sign.

However, USCIS still hasn't resolved our waiver -- still listed as "we received your case." In response to our "outside normal processing times" request we got the standard "you're in line to be reviewed, wait 30 to 60 days" response.

So we're a little confused as to why we're hearing from the consulate for a second interview when we haven't yet had a waiver approval post. Our theory is that USCIS saw our case, said "these people don't need a waiver" and sent it back to the consulate. But very hard to tell.

Our lawyer has requested more info. from the consulate. Unless something changes, we are planning to travel to Ciudad Juarez for a second interview.

Did consular call or email ? Did USCIS reply back with your outside processing time inquiry?

They sent a letter to our former lawyer, who forwarded it to us. (we have a different lawyer now who did register with the consulate so that's weird as well)

The notice from the consulate is dated 9/17/19. It has our old processing number from our previous visa procedure (in which we were deemed inadmissible) and the document makes no reference to the waiver or our USCIS processing number.

USCIS did respond to our outside processing time inquiry on the same day, saying that our case was in line to be reviewed and we should wait 30 to 60 days. The USCIS website still just says "my case was received."

  8. We have had a rather unusual update on our I-601 waiver, which we filed on 9/17/2018

The USCIS status is still showing "case received" and that has not changed or updated for about a year. However, we got a notice from the Ciudad Juarez consulate calling us in for a second interview. It says my wife was inadmissable because of "incomplete documentation" and says we can show up whenever without an appointment.

We're not sure why we're hearing from the consulate before we hear anything from USCIS. But it seems to be good news, since I don't think they'd summon us for a rejection.
