My I-485 says, case is ready for an interview. The I-131/765 are still on case received.

    We filed on December 18th.

    Biometric on January 14, 2020
I-485 - Ready for interview as of February 21, 2020

    i-131/765 case was received.

    local office: NYC

That happened to me. The I-485 updated saying it's ready for interview then later the EAD changed status to 'New card is being produced'.

So hopefully you should receive an update!

Thank you. I received the EAD update this morning.

Mine was the same for EAD (Case was Updated to Show Fingerprints were Taken) until I got an update saying New Card is being produced. For AP - Mine also says "Case was received" . I am not sure if I will get just the EAD or the combo card.

    You will get combo card.

The status of my EAD was showing 'New card is being produced' but AP showed as 'Case was received'. Now a couple of days after the EAD card status, both AP and EAD have changed to 'Case is approved' :)

  3. So today I had two updates to my cases! For the I-485 my update was that my interview is being scheduled and for the I-765 that my card is being produced. I'm really happy about it because I only submitted my applications on 16th December 2019!

So I have a couple of questions:

    1. Since my status for I-765 has been updated to 'new card being produced', can I update my status on VJ to approved?

    2. Should I be worried that the status for I-131 hasn't been updated since the case was received? I believe the I-765 and I-131 are the same card, right?

    Hi there!

i got my interview notice before i get my EAD card or my work permit. I did my biometric before 40 days.

is it normal? Cuz i have heard that EAD arrives before GC interview

    thanks

This just happened to me today. Completed my biomectrics 21 days ago and today I just checked the status of my application and it says my case is ready for an interview before I've even received EAD and AP

  5. Hi,

I entered the USA via K1 visa in September 2019 and got married to my spouse in October 2019. I'm pending AOS and waiting for EAD.

I've been doing some research on how to file taxes for the first year after K1 visa and while waiting for AOS. I have seen there are two options, MFS or MFJ. Apparently there are more benefits to MFJ but I'm not sure we will even notice the benefits of MFJ. My spouse is saying that when she files her taxes usually she doesn't pay anything so she doesn't see the point of filing jointly. She only earns about $30,000 a year (gross).

So do you think it would be more beneficial to file jointly and if so, what are the benefits? Or should we just file MFS?

    Thanks! I appreciate the help

  6. Hi!

Just wanted to clarify what's needed to expedite EAD (I-765) process. Do I just need a job offer or do I need more evidence? How soon can I submit a request to expedite? I sent my full AOS application on 13th December and tracking says it arrived to the lockbox on 15th December. I'm yet to receive any communication from USCIS that they've received my application nor have they taken payment from my credit card. Do I need to wait to request to expedite EAD? should I be worried I haven't heard anything?

Also, when applying for jobs should I mention I'm waiting for EAD? Or should I just say I have authorization to work in the USA? Reason why I'm asking is because I'm not sure if this would hurt my chances of getting a job offer.

Thank you in advance for your help!

  7. Thanks so much for all your helpful responses!

I just received the visa today!!! In the package was my passport, the white envelope (which is bigger than I thought!) and the completed affidavit of support form (including the letter of employment) that I submitted during my interview.

Is it normal that they send the affidavit of support form back to you? Do I have to do anything with it or is it just for my records to keep?

  8. Hi!

I had my interview last week and got APPROVED!! Will submit my review soon. I got an email today with my tracking information for the return of my passport. Do I need to be at home to receive it? Does it need a signature or will they just post it through the letterbox? I wasn't given a white envelope at the interview like a few other people have said on here. Will I receive that in the package with my passport?

Thanks for all your help guys!

    Regards,
    Josh

  9. Hi,

I was looking through the supporting evidence that's needed for the I-134 Affidavit of Support. On the USCIS website it mentions the following:

    • A signed statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institution that states when you opened an account, the total amount deposited for the past year, and the present balance of such account
    • A signed statement from your employer on business letterhead that states the date and nature of your employment, salary paid, and whether the position is temporary or permanent
    • A copy of your last income federal tax return filed, or a report of commercial rating concern (if self-employed)
    • A list containing the serial numbers and denominations of bonds and names of the owners (if applicable)

My fiancée is over the 125% poverty line and she isn't self employed. So I'm assuming we don't need to provide evidence for the last two? Is that correct?

I have the letter from her bank and also the letter from her employer. Is there any other evidence that is mandatory? I assume not since it would be indicated on the USCIS website. I've heard some have collected pay stubs and IRS tax returns. Is this required?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

    Regards,

    Josh

Despite what all the others think, it's more of a cattle call in my opinion. They aren't going to be looking for you to step up to the first counter at precisely 10:30. There could be a half dozen or more with the same time. I think you would be seen if you got there before they quit for the day.

That's what I was thinking after reading some of the other forum posts. Thanks for lending your opinion!

There are cheaper places to stay in the outskirts. At least you'd be closer and have more time. Do a quick search to see what's available. It's a lot cheaper than if you mess this part up, that's how I'd look at it.

Thanks so much for the advice! I'll take a look :)

It's probable you'll make it on time if the trains run on time. I presume that's the earliest train you can get on the day? If you're more than 30 minutes late they can cancel your interview. Have you thought of staying in London the night before if you're concerned you'll be late?

I was thinking about it but it's so expensive to stay at a hotel in London :(

  13. Hi all,

I'm travelling down to London in a couple of weeks for my interview at the London embassy. I'm getting a train that arrives at 9:24am and my appointment is 10:30am. It says on google maps that it takes around 30 mins to get to the embassy from Euston station, including tube ride and walking. So I should arrive around 10am hopefully.

Do you think this is enough time? Also, what happens if I face delays in my travel? Will I still be allowed to attend my interview or not?

    Thanks! :)

  14. Hi!

I checked my status on CEAC website today and it shows as 'Ready'. Does this mean I can now book my medical appointment and interview?

I have already submitted DS-160. I did this when CEAC status was 'In Transit'. Do you think this will be an issue?

I appreciate your help so much! :)

    What is the ceac status?

Actually, I just checked and it got updated today saying:

    Ready
    Immigrant Visa Case Number:
    Case Created: 24-Jun-2019
    Case Last Updated: 17-Jul-2019

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:http://nvc.state.gov/interview
For more information, please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV.

I haven't received anything from the embassy yet though. Can I schedule for my interview and medical now? Will it be a problem that I already submitted the DS-160 when the status was 'In Transit'?

  16. Hi all,

Our k1 visa application recently got passed from the NVC to the consulate in UK. After I got notification from NVC, I looked at the instructions to take and was under the impression I could submit the DS-160. I did that but afterwards I looked at the instructions and was told by NVC that I should wait for the consulate to contact me when they receive my application. Is that correct? Will there be any problem that I submitted the DS-160 before the consulate received my application?

Also, I wanted to ask how the embassy will contact me. Will it be via email, letter or both?

I'm pretty sure the embassy has received my application now as I was tracking it on the DHL website. Is there anything I can do in the meantime, or should I just wait?

    Thanks! :)
