So, in Mass do you have to have a "valid" reason to even own a gun?
You have go to a firearms safety course, then fill out an application at the police department, get fingerprinted and then the state has to approve the application. I guess so cause on a section of the form it asks why are you requesting a license (hunting, self defense)

No license here either, now you do need one for Concealed Carry and another one for Hunting.
What is your question?
I was just curious of people experience applying for a license and how it went.

I live in the free state of Texas. No license needed. Sorry, I can't relate to applying. Good luck.
Haha must be nice

Anyone apply for firearms ID after becoming a naturalized citizen? Care to share the process?

Have you first updated your info with SSA?
No. I had to go in person to the RMV to update my lawful presence. Gave them my NC and applied for real ID...all set now.

Don't know where to begin. Had an interview in Houston, IO started asking about my ex spouse and also current spouse. I applied based on 5 years but still was questioned about my ex spouse. I saw a huge stack of I-751 files in her desk, she went through it. She asked my current marriage date and previous divorce date. At the end, She told me she will have to review my file.
I came home very stressed since I waited 15 months for this. When I check online, it says as below. It says quality review, God knows what that means. Please provide any experience you guys had, I'm feeling really down.
May 6, 2021 Oath Ceremony Will Be ScheduledMay 6, 2021 We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, be approved. Your case was submitted for quality review.I'm confused it says your oath will be scheduled...and says it's recommended for approval. My case was also submitted for quality review and I think that's standard.

Hey all, just out of curiosity filling out paperwork and I'm looking for the Naturalization certificate #...that's the numbers in red correct? It said it contained alpha-numeric number but it didn't contain any letters just numbers...Is there a reason my certificate # has only numbers?

REAL ID | Transportation Security Administration (tsa.gov) The requirement has been extended out to May 2023.
I saw that...so I guess my next question is with SAVE check...if it the case returned to the rmv agency based on what I entered (my naturalization number) I am in the system correct? Probably overthinking but I'm a worrier.

Hi guys, I was trying to complete a REAL ID application online through the RMV and i completed the application but it says "The online lawful presence authorization system has encountered an issue while verifying your lawful status." I don't understand what is wrong...i entered my information correctly from my naturalization certificate and i even checked SAVE case check and it already says the case was returned to the agency. Can anyone help me out please?

Hi, Im in TX and also been trying to get an appointment to update my ss.
Did you get your ss updated?
Thank God I became US citizen in June 2020. I have called ss several times and I always been told to mail my certificate which honestly I don’t feel comfortable with that. My reason to update is because tax season is coming up and for tax report you have to answer the question if you are citizen or not.
Just thought I'd update you on this. I filed my taxes Fed and State and already received my returns. Haven't updated social security yet.

Hard to prove a negative!!!
As long as taxes are paid IRS could care less what status you are. Taxation is the same.
Only reason to update SS at this time, is if you're ready to take retirement, and retire in another country without returning 6 months per year. (Requirement GC holders, no citizens)
So the only time we would need to update SSN# urgently is if we were going to claim SSI or start retirement?

I can see why you wouldn’t want to send off your certificate. I am still waiting for mine to come back after getting a passport. The social security office should be local and shouldn’t take long to process. If you do change your mind you can always send the certificate recorded so you have proof they actually received it. As a precaution I have a photo copy of mine and that will help if you need a replacement or if you need info from it. So I don’t have much information on the I-9 but I do own a business and use the I-9 system to hire staff. So the answer is it depends on where the system pulls the information from. I think it could be a little tricky. I’m guessing it pulls info from the homeland security and not Social security. Homeland should have your updated info and have you as a citizen so If that’s the case you will most likely be fine but if it’s the other way around it might be an issue. Questions on the I-9 ... are you a citizen? Or lawful permanent resident? If your answer conflicts with the system you could have a problem as evidence also differs based on your answer. I also think personally as a employer if it came back with some kind of citizenship complication I would work with the new employee to resolve the issue. I’m also not sure if they could deny your employment based on this. It’s just a possible complication that could be a pain and depending on the ethics of employer could be a problem. All in all If your looking for a job I think the best option would be to update your status by mailing the certificate. I would make a copy and send it To SSA via a sign for method. I’d like to know what you finally do. I have yet to send mine in to the SSA as I’m still waiting for my certificate back from the passport office.
Maybe someone else has some more promising info for you. I have limited knowledge of the working I-9 system.
I don't know what I will do. I'm currently not in need of a new job, just thinking ahead. My hope is that the social security offices will open up soon with vaccines coming out and I will go in person and not have to send the certificate through mail. I am in no need of a passport at the time so i will hold off on that.

Hi everyone, in need of some guidance/clarification. Since becoming a citizen I have yet to update my SSN. They are not allowing in-person appointments for that reason and me being me, I do not want to send my Certificate through mail. That being said, a SSA agent told be I really don't need to update the records right away unless I need benefits, however, here is my issue, if I apply for a new job and file the I-9 Form for Employment eligibility will that cause any issues? I have my Certificate as proof of US Citizenship but Social security records are not updated. I appreciate any assistance.

It says on my interview letter that the proceeding will take about two hours. Is that usually how long interviews take?
Mine was close to 2 hours because everything was done same day.

Congrats! How many weeks did it take to get passport?

Yes, i am a canadian citizen just recently got matried to an american in the usa. We've been together for a year and we have a lot of proof of our relationship. But we don't own anything together. As i am a canadian citizen, i can't live in the usa until i am legally able to. So we don't own anything together as of yet. Can i get a joint bank account with him as a canadian citizen and ect, or have my name on the lease of a home in the usa? Our marriage is long distance until i can legally live there with him. So my question is what can i use as proof since we are long distance, primary proof as you have mentioned would be having joint ownership ect right.
As long as everything is legitimate, then you can only send in what you have. I would gather up as many pictures, travel plans, communication between you two. Primary evidence ideally is best but if you don't have anything jointly then you can't send those.
Unfortunately, I don't know how you can set up stuff jointly from different countries, maybe someone here can help/guide you in the right direction?

Wow that’s wild, I wish it was like that here but unfortunately we have strict gun laws. It’s a process to get something that the 2nd constitution just allows us to have.
