Our green card interview is tomorrow morning. We have all our documents ready and have gone over some questions! Hoping for a smooth interview and an approval! I will definitely share our interview experience tomorrow! Thanks to those who posted their interview experience and the documents they brought, definitely helped us prepare. 😊
We were approved!!!! Our interview was at 9:55 AM. We reached the office at 9:40 AM. We went through security checking and waited about 20 minutes until we were called into the room. The officer was really nice and the first thing we did was take an oath. He then asked us for original copies of our passport, marriage certificate, and drivers license. He then went through the form I-485 with my husband and basically ask him questions on each page. He made about eight changes including my husband‘s employment and address and other things. He ended the interview with asking my husband all the yes/no questions on the form I-485. He told us that he would check the medical and security questions before he would approve us. After he checked those things he approved us and told us about the Removal of conditions. He didn’t ask any question about our relationship or ask to look at any of the proof or supporting documents that I brought. It was a really smooth and easy interview and after leaving the office our case status changed to new card is being produced. Hoping in the next 1-2 we’ll have the green card in hand. See everyone in 2 years for ROC!

We got the notification that interview was ready to be scheduled since Sept 2020, still waiting for the interview letter. Anyone in the Houston/Texas area waiting too? Is calling and speaking to tier 2 helpful?
Thanks to those who post their interview experience, SUPER helpful and congratulations!!!
We got a notification this morning that our interview has been scheduled. Today is also my husbands birthday (Beneficiary) so it was a wonderful birthday news ☺️We are waiting for our notice in the mail and I am starting to gather documents! So thankful that we are at this point and almost done with this process. For those still waiting, I hope you get good news soon!

Hello everyone, I was wondering as someone had posted earlier..with the public charge rule gone does that mean my husband and I can apply for government assistance program for example subsidized health insurance plan and what not? We're both unemployed and health insurance would be nice.
Spoke with a USCIS rep and was informed that since my husband and I used a sponsor during our K1 process that the public charge rule still applies to us and we cannot apply for any government assistance program.

Hey everyone, we are still waiting for our interview notice, it's been a month since our status updated to interview scheduled. I had a question about financial documents to bring to the GC interview...we used a cosponsor for both K1/AOS application so im curious if we need to bring cosponsor financial information for the interview? Also as a recent graduate I'm in between jobs currently and didn't file taxes this year (but did previous years) and my husband is currently job searching...I guess what im wondering is if all this financial stuff will affect us at the interview! Any input is appreciated! Thanks 😊

I have a question about how a "work for housing exchange" lease should be written. My husband and I live in the back unit of a family friend and I currently babysit for free rent (they are legally not able to charge rent as stated in their deed when they bought the house) we are wanting a written "lease" to bring as proof that we live together for our green card interview. How should that be written? Similar to an affidative of support? I hope this question makes sense lol thanks!😊

Positive News here!
My GC interview was this morning at 10 and I got approved on the spot! Mr. Cain, the IO, was super friendly and very informative. We discussed about the ROC and N400 processes too and even gave me a note with the soonest dates that I can file for both. I think this discussion was longer than the actual interview lol
I knew that I was approved before we began the interview when he said this is just a formality etc. At the end of the interview, he said he already made a decision to approve my application once he's done reviewing my case(before today's interview). He said that I completed all the requirements when I sent in my AOS application back in February 2020.
The documents(in the photo) that I brought didn't even make it outside the bag 😃
Hope y'all get approved easily too!
Congratulations! I'm so happy that your interview went so smooth! Do you mind sharing what documents you printed and brought with you to the interview? It might be helpful for those who have GC interview soon ! Thanks!
And also what kind of questions were asked? 😊

Update: We received the combo card EAD and AP letter today even though we didn't do biometrics for the AP, his EAD card shows "serves as I-512 advance parole" which i think it means he can travel out the country? Not sure! But they sent the letter to our CA address and not to the TX one although we've changed address with USCIS. Our old housemate will ship us the letter! We are so excited! We'll call immigration and ask them to correct our address and hopefully our green card interview will be in TX not CA!

Ask for a Tier 2 officer. They’re the only ones who can see the actual date of appointment. Tier 1 officers can only see when the notice was generated. That should be a good enough reason to be transferred to a Tier 2 (which is what I did).
Thank you! I'll call back and do just that!

This is awesome news! Were they able to confirm the appointment is for August? If the appointments comes in for September they are useless if the offices are closed as planned.
She said she can't see the date from her end so idk when it'll be lol but I hope its for August! If we haven't received the notice by mid next week, I'll call back!

We received our approval notice letter for the EAD/AP saying it was approved on 7/22. I called today to ask about a biometrics appointment and the lady said we don't need one that we should expect the card in about 60 days ..I told her I'm pretty sure we need it from what I've heard and read..she repeated the same thing and I told her that I'll call back weekly to check for our appointment!

Sounds good since USCIS commented they begin to provide more in-person services.
But, still, I have a bit doubt at both sides, i.e., USCIS comments and Roll Call news, since
- USCIS hasn't taken any step for in-person services yet such as interview and biometrics notices,
- USCIS still sends RFIE and RFE or even accepts the green cards with an interview waiver even these days. And this is the point where I have a question on the reliability of the news.
Who knows, the news may reflect things happens inside the USCIS and just shows minor inconsistency?
Likes others, I'm one of the random guys, just desperately wanting for the biometric letter.
Since you are the cohort of the February filer, I don't believe your husband is bound to the public charge rule; and, thus, securing health insurance may not be required by the USCIS policy.
Thank you!!!

Hello everyone, I have a medical insurance question...my husband I recently moved to Houston Texas and we are both currently uninsured... He's the one applying for the green card...I'm wondering if it's worth getting insurance for the next 2 months til I start working in August? I'm also wondering if it's mandatory/required for him to be insured at all time due to the immigration rule? I just need some clarification. I would most definitely add him to my employer benefits when I start working. Thanks 😊

So far I understand, it may not be mandatory to keep health insurance for those who filed AOS before Feb 24, 2020, but if it is mandatory, you need to follow the regulation.
BTW, I can't find any health insurance-related field other than I-944, which is a new form, and I understand the rule is applied only for those who files on or after Feb 25, 2020, but I'm not an immigration lawyer.
Besides the regulation issue, you may need to look at the COBRA health insurance program (https://www.healthcare.gov/unemployed/cobra-coverage/) if you and your husband have been covered by an employer-based health plan.
I remember it has a 60-day grace period of enrollment, and more worth mentioning is that you can enroll even after visit a clinic/hospital and are hit by medical bills (which means, so far I understand that this is the only health insurance that is retroactive to the qualifying event).
But, again, the COBRA health insurance program is only for employees who lose their job recently.
And, lastly, I personally believe keeping health insurance at any time is good for setting my mind at rest, but it's up to you.
I understand Medicaid (when any unforeseen event happens, you may need to claim Medicaid...) won't hurt our AOS, but the record is forever until the US government has no way to kick us out, which is becoming a citizen.
Hello, thanks for your response. Can you say more about the first part? I wasn't aware that it wasn't mandatory for those who filed before Feb 24th. Is there a link I can read about that?
I understand the need to always have health insurance for emergency! If we can find cheap medical insurance in Texas then we'll enroll but if not, we'll just wait til I have a job to add my husband to my medical insurance.
