  1. I'm sorry to hear that, it must be tough for you.

I'm going to tell you what I think here, since you posted this i'm assuming you want opinions - if not, please disregard.

I don't know your whole story, but i'm guessing you are unemployed or under-employed, looking for a job, so times are tough and that's getting you down.

I sincerely doubt that God is trying to tell you something here. If you were in a more positive state of mind you would probably be saying something along the lines of "God has put these challenges in our way so that we can prove how strong our relationship is" - you get my drift.

It's appalling that you would be considering throwing away the relationship you have with this woman and your child. Are these two people not your family? Right now your wife has found out that they won't be travelling to the U.S. right away, to their Husband and Father, that your child has to undergo treatment for a medical condition and they have to travel 'home' 600 miles. Imagine how they are feeling.

Time to pull your socks up.

  2. What you really need and what you will be advised to take are sometimes two different things. Even with the I-864, only 1 tax return is required. People on VJ state you should take 3 - it's up to you (we shouldn't state as fact things that are just VJ 'knowledge') in my opinion.

The evidence you need to present is listed on page one of the I-134 instructions.

If you are going to take payslips, take 5 or 6, that should be sufficient.

  3. Why do insurance premiums have to be based on one's credit/insurance score! I just got the insurance bill so I can insure my fiance's car. Well, because he has "limited credit data" his premium is $250 dollars more than mine over a 6 month period! Yikes! That is taking into account a multi-car policy, "mature household", and several other discounts. Ugh.

At least they were willing to add him without a SSN or Driver's license from Michigan.

I saw a television show reporting on this practice (CBC Marketplace - the article is here). The cooperators have started to use credit score as a factor in setting rates.

There was also something mentioned (in that report or another) about your education level. I noticed the other day when doing an auto insurance quote online that it asked for level of education, can't remember if I have seen that before or not.

All just another way for them to add more money to the stacks they already make.

  4. From the I-864, page 6

Proof of U.S. citizen or national status includes a copy of your birth certificate, certificate of naturalization, certificate of citizenship, consular report of birth abroad to citizen parents, or a copy of the biographic data page of your U.S. passport.

I don't know the answer to your bank account information - it's consulate specific.

However I am wondering why, if your Husband's sponsorship is sufficient, why are you bothering with the hassle of a joint sponsor and proof of your cash assets.

  5. My brother is leaning towards Naturalization and thinks that based on his clean record and our father's citizenship, USCIS will sympathize and not deport him.

Hmm, I don't really think USCIS is all that sympathetic.

my bro's fraudulent LPR will surely come to light, which would cause visa denials for my nieces, and worse, removal for my bro.

I think you just answered your own question

  6. Mods are not here to govern people with a billy club. They should move topics, handle flame wars, trolls, etc....but they have absolutely no right to stifle normal conversation for no reason other than because they want to. Of course, that's jmo.

This is not public domain, where free speech is a constitutional right. It's a discussion board on a privately owned domain and just like you can't walk in to McDonalds shouting whatever you want against animal products you can't assume you can just say anything you want to in here.

I personally thing the moderators give a huge amount of leeway.

  7. ok so belinda i still put all the intending immigrants on my I864 which all 7 of them rite. and then my 1st co-sponser gets 3 of them and 2nd one gets 4 of them on their I864 rite. and for every immigrant i need a seprate copy of I864 rite . so all together we will make 7/ I864 rite. but only one copy of each other paper work . for example 1st co-sponser with 3 make 3 I864 but only one copy of tax return and job letter act. rite plz let me know if i am wrong here. thanks reply soon

I am not Belinda, but yes, that is correct.

  8. This works in very well for natural gas producers in our province that have seen a significant downturn in demand over the last few years.

How will we feel when we get higher electricity bills? The question is, how much higher can they go. We are a household of 2 people. Our electricity bill in May was $200.00, last month it was $183.00.

  9. Hi,

For pkt 3 you do not send everything on the checklist, you only send what they ask you to at that point. The same question was asked in the Canada forum yesterday, that thread is here:

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/262666-forms-montreal-consulate-requires-before-k1-visa-interview-is-set/

I'm not sure where you read that the immunizations have changed, I don't think they have really. If you follow this list of immunizations (from a Canadian panel physician's website), for your age range, you should be fine.

    http://panelphysicians.com/Pages/Immunizations.htm

  10. I would keep trying, email Montreal every day. I would be concerned, mostly, because if they have the petitioner's name wrong, then they are not doing name checks on you, therefore when you get to the interview you will end up with a long wait afterwards. You have seen all the posts about how long it takes them to get anything done when they need additional information, anyway that's just my take on it.

  11. hi VJ friends i got this co-sponser and i am kinda confuse with income count . i am sponsering 7 ppl and the poverty line say $41.587. this cosponser income was $36.000 with one dependent. so how much more i need to add on to meet the poverty line $41.587. is it $14.937 that i need more cuz all together it'll be 9 ppl now cosponser it self and one dependent . or its going to be diffrent plz help; :help:

    $36000- $4675 2x = $26650

    -$41.587=$14937

So basically sajaan it goes like this:

Your cosponsor includes 3 of the immigrants. He is a group of 2, plus 3 immigrants - he needs $ 32,327 in income, so that is fine.

That leaves 4 immigrants with no sponsor. You need another sponsor (you can have 2 cosponsors) he needs to make enough for his family plus the 4 immigrants.

  12. If this cosponsor is going to sponsor all the immigrants it would be:

    Cosponsor + dependant + 7 immigrants - for a total of 9 people.

    The guideline for 9 is $ 50,937.00

So for him to sponsor all of them he would need another 14,937 in income.

If you are trying to split them up between you and your cosponsor, then no, you can't just add 15 thousand of your own income, I remember from your other post your current income is 15 thousand. It is as Belinda says above.

  13. Photocopy of birth certificate should be fine.

Current income is most important, the tax returns just present an overall picture. Probably your best bet would be to go ahead and have her fill out the I-134, if it makes you more comfortable, but don't present it at the interview unless they question the support.

  14. I was just thinking about whether there might be a nicer way to maintain our timeline spreadsheet of everyone waiting for interviews.

Maybe this is a crazy idea... but has anyone thought of using something like Google Docs?

If you follow that link you'll need a free Google account. Then you can create spreadsheets and share them and invite others to collaborate. Then there's one clean, up-to-date document that is always up-to-date, and only the people invited can modify it, but anyone can view it.

The one we have been copy-and-pasting works, but if anyone likes the idea of Google Docs, we could give it a try. It might have some nice features, like sorting by different columns.

    Jeremy

Jeremy - I second your idea - would shorten the posts up too with all the updates. It's up to trailmix though..

    Hi Jeremy and bwoo,

This has been suggested a few times, last year someone actually transferred the data on to a google spreadsheet if I remember correctly.

Personally I like being able to see the info right here - but that's just me. If one of you wants to transfer/maintain a google spreadsheet that's cool, but I will still maintain this one :)

This thread is really about that timeline, I am wondering if maybe we should start a separate thread for CR1/IR1 chat? bwoo you are right that the spreadsheet updates disrupt the flow of conversation in this thread, so maybe someone else would want to start another one?

  15. But what I was wondering is this, do you think they (the Consulate) will interview my son as well?

They might ask him a few questions, general chit chat, like, are you looking forward to moving to the U.S. - they aren't going to grill him :)

I have never read a review from the Montreal consulate where they took the child(ren) and interviewed them without the parent.

  16. thank you very much, Iwill look into it, right now anything, Sammy does not do well in the car and I am so worried about what he will be like sitting there for a long period of time.

    thank you again,

Yes, we use the cat equivalent of this too, if it works on your dog (you can try it out before you actually travel) you will be amazed. So much better than sedating and if you are staying in a hotel and when you get to your new home it is really helpful to use then as well :)

  17. From the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website:

"Dogs must also be free of evidence of diseases that could be communicable to humans.

    - A general certificate of health is not required by CDC for entry of pet dogs into the United States, although some airlines or states may require them.

    - Dogs must have a certificate showing they have been vaccinated against rabies greater than or equal to 30 days prior to entry into the United States. This certificate should identify the dog, show the date of vaccination, the date it expires (there are one-year and three-year vaccinations), and be signed by a licensed veterinarian. If the certificate does not have an expiration date, CBP will accept it as long as the dog was vaccinated 12 months or less before coming to the United States. Dogs coming from rabies free countries do not have to be vaccinated".

(for cats there are no shots required for entering the U.S.)

  18. Thank you for your reply Trailmix. THAT is the mother of all Links!!

My employment is with an LLC that I am a member of. I have a significant percentage of ownership (though not majority), but we are taxed as a corporation, therefore I am an employee and not "self employed". The company filed its return without an extension. However, we started another LLC with the builder of our corporate hq. That LLC is taxed as a partnership and therefore all P&L from that LLC flows directly to the members' personal 1040 (and is reported on a K1...ah... nice coincidence, no?). That partnership has filed an extension while we await the results of the building inspection for green tax credits. Hence my personal extension.

    Ahh yes, makes sense.

And yes, that is quite the document :)

  19. Actually, for the I-864, technically they will accept proof of an extension to file. link

"The sponsor must submit with the Form I-864 the sponsor’s U.S. Federal income tax return for the most recent tax year (that is, the completed tax year immediately preceding the date the sponsor signs the Form I-864). USCIS may generally expect a sponsor, after April 15 of any given year (or April 16 or 17, in a year in which April 15 is on a Saturday or Sunday), to have completed his or her tax return for the previous year. If the sponsor requested an extension, the sponsor should provide proof of filing for the extension".

    Example 3

Sponsor signs the Form I-864 on May 5, 2006. However, the sponsor also filed with IRS a Form 4868, obtaining an extension of the 2005 income tax filing deadline. The sponsor must submit his or her 2004 U.S. Federal income tax return.

I say technically, because it doesn't really seem like a good idea, generally - however, you have the draft copy, you are going to include the proof of extension and you have all your other proof in place, seems reasonable in your situation.

Just one question. I'm not familiar with U.S. business tax returns (if that is what you have filed an extension for), but i'm wondering why you are not able to file your personal 1040? Since a business cannot sponsor someone, i'm not sure how the business return affects you filing/sending your personal return.

  20. "As for my US born baby/child getting Canadian citizenship, I think I will have to wait awhile for that. I think it is better that they make an informed decision for such when they are older, and can understand for themselves the culture, history, rights/responsibilities, etc. of being a Canadian citizen.

    Good points Neiks.

Ant, didn't we go over the whole, are they a Canadian citizen thing - or not, last time you posted this :hehe:

  21. Trailmix, got the affidavit form i got from my co-sponsor which is my brother. On his Current annual individual income is $106,000.00 and on his employment of certificate it is stated his annual base salary is 93,185 per year..Is that ok, the amount is not the same? Was wondering, maybe his current annual individual is gross and base annual is after deductions? Pls help ...i hope this is not wrong bcoz my interview is getting closer

Currently annual income should be the income the sponsor expects to make this year. I don't know why his 'base' salary number is different from his stated annual income, maybe you could ask him.

I also don't know whether or not the difference is an issue.

Just to clarify - the letter of employment is not actually a requirement, neither are pay stubs, not sure if the COs in Manila usually ask for them.

    (2) Job Letters and Proof of Income .

Pay stub(s) showing income for the most recent 6 months and letters from all current employers are no longer required as initial evidence. The applicant, however, may submit either or both of these items (1) in response to a request for additional evidence (RFE), or (2) with a Form I-864 if the applicant believes doing so would help establish that the sponsor meets the governing income/assets threshold. If submitted, letters from current employers should show dates of employment, the nature of the job, wage s or salary earned, number of hours/weeks worked, and prospects for future employment and advancement. It should be sufficient for the employer to say that the employment is of indefinite duration or words of similar effect. Promises of future employment are not required.
