I added you and took off the other name you had Kbraine10. When did you get the interview date?
How did it go?
We got an email June 10th for an interview on June 23rd.
Unfortunately my husband was refused due to a marijuana charge from when he was 18. We were instructed to file an I-601 waiver, which we are in the process of putting together now. Obviously a big disappointment; we were planning on booking his tickets to come here that night.
So, for now I'm trying to obtain a short term visa to Australia so I can at least be with him while the waiver processes. I dont want to put off starting our life together any longer.

If I'm not mistaken, it looks like Sydney will resume scheduling interviews on Monday

Congrats!
And May I ask, who sent you the interview letter? Is it NVC or the embassy?
because my expedite was approved by both nvc and embassy, but the NVC told me to contact the embassy directly for about processing and interview date?
Usually, NVC set the interview date, right?
And also they told me the embassy might need additional forms and fees? I just don’t get it. Is it because expedite or?
If your case was expedited, the embassy will contact you directly to set up an interview. If you were not already DQ with the NVC, the embassy may need additional documents. We were DQ with the NVC but the embassy has still requested an additional document. There are also fews due at the time of interview to process your visa.

Hi guys, I thought I'd share some State Dept. updates.
-State Dept. operations in the DC metro area will go into Phase I on June 15
-Spain has resumed US Citizen mail-in passport services as of June 11- Germany has done the same thing. I assume other Schengen facilities are doing the same thing but there's too many to check page by page.
-The Wuhan Consulate will be reopening later this month
-Greenland is open
According to the State Department plan, if facilities can sustain conditions for 14 days after Phase I, they can move to Phase II, and if they do so for another 14 days, they move on to Phase III.
As a result, if all goes well (and that's also doubtful on its own) Phase III could be reached in as little as 28 days from June 15.
This group has been very helpful to us and we hope everyone can be reunited/go home as soon as possible.
Have a nice weekend!
Looks like the Australian embassies are also processing mail in passport applications as of June 10th.

Does NVC send you 2 emails regarding expedite? First that they’re reviewing it and second that they’ll forward it to embassy or not?
They send you one email stating that they forwarded your request to the embassy and another telling you with the embassy approved your expedite or not.

They're talking about pre-covid travel. Australian citizens are currently banned from leaving the country as well.

Could you share the text you used for your email, with details removed of course? I'd love to see what a successful email template looks like.
Nothing complicated. I attached my expedite approval from the NVC and stated "I would like to inquire as to whether the consulate has received our case following our expedite approval. I have attached our approval notice from the NVC"

How long it takes to get back an answer from nvc about the expedit ? And what did you said inside the letter ? Help
me out I am over 3 years waiting for my wife! I got DQ last March and still noting for Interview ?
I would recommend you post to a thread appropriate for your visa category. This is specifically for CR1/IR1 visas (spouse of US citizens). Looks like you are applying for a F-2A, which follows different timelines. Any information you get here may not apply to you.

I emailed the consulate today to see if they had received our case from the NVC following our expedite approval. My husband got an email about an hour later with his interview appointment!

Hi KanR18,
congrats on yours being approved!! So did the interview get scheduled at the embassy, since it got approved? And if you don’t mind, what reason did you give for expediting?
I am planning on sending a request today or tomorrow
We have not received an interview date yet. We requested based on emotional and financial hardship. Good luck!

I think it can be either! I requested as the beneficiary. But you should include all info for both in the email (full name, e-mails, case number, including two contact numbers for the beneficiary).
This is correct, I applied as the petitioner and was approved. You should identify yourself as to whether you are the petitioner or beneficiary in the body of the email as well.

Awesome...through what mechanism did you contact the NVC? Email? Phone?
You have to make a formal request through the email address nvcexpedite@state.gov

I sent an email to support-australia@ustraveldocs.com requesting an emergency appointment. Was this the right email to contact?
When I tried to request our expedite through that email address, we were instructed to make our request with the NVC. We did that and got approved.

@zochu Emotional and financial hardship. I'm an essential worker and have had to take some time off work to care for my mental health and to help my daughter with distance learning due to school closures in my area. I included a doctor's note stating that I have anxiety, a letter of employment and a notice of the school closures as proof

Did the expedite request come from the NVC, or from the Consulate? I have emailed the consulate asking them to request the file from the NVC, because I think that's all I can do from a K-1 standpoint. I'm hoping to get good news this week, but I'm not entirely confident that 'my fiancee needs me to take care of her kids when she goes back to work next month while the normal summer camps and usual child services are unavailable due to COVID' will be enough of a 'reason' for an emergency interview. 😬
I initially requested the expedite with the consulate directly and was instructed to go through the NVC (we were DQ'd on May 4th). So, our approval came from the NVC email but ultimately it's still up to the consulate.

I'm surprised too, but we have grounds for an extreme hardship as far as the waiver goes so that's good news? Maybe it won't take as long. I believe there were two reasons he didn't get the ban.
1 - The medical examiner was aware of the charge and cleared him based on the fact that it was so long ago and that he hasnt smoked since. I think the ban is ultimately up to the medical examiner.
2 - The "charge" wasn't technically a charge by Australian law. He went to court but did not receive a criminal charge as long as he didn't receive another violation. The way the consulate explained it though is that the US government still sees it as a charge.
Crossing my fingers that there are no hang ups in me traveling there (with my daughter), but at this point I'm just always preparing myself for the worst 😒
