Hi fiaq, well I don't know why consulate took over an a year to review your case but now it seems they Ready to process your visas, please send above doc's ASAP. Hopefully you will get approve soon!!

By the time she rescheduled her interview almost took 4 months and that's the reason when her visa issued she got to travel in 28 days.

Seems your mother had medical in March and what was the initial interview date must be in April, well what I have experienced in 2016 my mother medical was not good so they put her on AP until medical was oky and new interview date had scheduled tell me is this the same case your mom going through, there's nothing to worry about.

I have spoken to alot of people to be affected.Most of them either have a muslim name or are muslims.

Not the first and not the last before me I know 1 person from karachi Pakistan , Name Marshall Benjamin had ds5535 and got his visa after stayed more than year in AP. As per state department rules we considers Pakistani not christians or any other faith. It's typically specific countries centred policy.

I am a Pakistani and Christian but filled ds5535 and in AP for last 4 months, please don't try to mix this with religion we Pakistani have to go through extreme vetting regardless of religion. My whole family parents are US Citizen despite all I had ds5535.

Well had 2 updates one was on last week that because of congressman inquired and another happened yesterday I believe on its own let's see but really frustrating and don't know when it's going to complete, finish 4 months in AP. How far you are?

Many Congratulations it's been long since we haven't had any positive news, I just checked mine ceac today updated again and last Tuesday updated as Well after 2 months, I am in AP since 4 months. I hope it will resolve in coming weeks. God bless everyone who sticks in AP.

Well if you don't have credit card you can use someone you know and give equivalent amount to card holder. I did the same while applying police clearance certificate from Switzerland that too online. Good luck

Well the last update I got 3 times in a row which is on May 23rd. My passport expiring in January 2020. I dont know whether I should write to consulate or I should wait for their call to submit new In my case I still got 6 months until my passport expires, whatever you do keep me in loop I might need to do same.

Yes as we seen on Vj it's Normal how consulate process AP- Ready- AP for few days and followed by issued. And it's happened with my cousin as well same yours. Good luck.

At islamabad consulate we get ds5535 in mail called additional information so no idea about greyed area but normally it's for official use.

Yeah upon sending ds5535 me too got couple of updates and they sends auto reply. "Received".

If you go to this form right here, the last page, did you guys also fill in the DS-160/DS-260 Barcode Number ?

I left it out since it is grey and I thought it's for the consuler officer to do it. 

 

Is there a possibility that they didn't really receive my DS 5535? 

I think I will email them and ask them whether they have received it as it is super strange that they didn't do anything at all in all the 2 months!

Did you mail back ds5535 because when I sent mine as soon as they received they sent mail just written Thanks received. And yes you should mail and ask if they get your mail. Good luck

Hi zeeshan well it seems in a year time you didn't make any contact with embassy that's why your status shows expiring soon. Was there any document missing or what consular officer gave any 221g slip and any instructions on it follow and you failed to do in a year, thats what I understand can u explain??

I feel like they are not even taking a look at my case at all, like I am at the very bottom of all visa applications

This is strange, as per my understanding and what I've been through status updated day after interview and later happened once I sent ds5535 then on sending missing doc's this is kind of acknowledgement to me whatever i am supplying them they received, you should involve your state senator i am sure it will help.
