The person who delivered the priority mail put the mail in my mail box. No signature needed. You can set up a USPS account and give the tracking number mail a special delivery instruction. I think it could work.

On my end, my USCIS online account updated with "New Card is Being Produced" on Friday 9/27 and I received my card in the mailbox the next Friday 10/04.

Oct 2nd application approved , Oct 3rd card produced , Oct 4rth card mailed and Oct 8th I, received my card .

Thank you! I was pretty shocked when i saw that. I had been told by different people that a lot of people got approved these days. But I never got my hopes up.

Apparently new card is being produced to me too.. On October 9th. 
 
How long do you usually need to wait until you get your card in the mail from the day your status got changed to "card is being produced"? I am doing a one week trip starting on Oct 20th. I wonder if I would miss the mail.

My Notice Date was 7/11/18. Fingerprint was reused on 3/8/19 and case was transferred from CSC to Potomac on 6/4/19. It looked like my case was similar to yours.

Hi all, I’ve been one of those silent readers here for a long time.
 
Today, I received an email from uscis saying my new card was ordered!
I’m a CSC filer with NOA date 7/11/18, fingerprint reused and transferred to Potomac at the end of May. Honestly,  I was prepared to wait for another couple of months but it happened! So Potomac friends don’t give up the hope, it’s very slowly but certainly moving!!

My timeline is exactly the same as yours! Fingers crossed we will be next!

i have the exact situation with you!  I have WAC18227 though.

You can have someone you trust open the mail for you while you're gone and monitor it. For only 15 days, I think it'll be ok. You should be able to get back before the interview date. 

Hi guys! I have been a silent reader here but today I would like to share the good news! I have been approved and have received my card!!! 
 
Below is my timeline:
July 12, 2018- Package Sent
July 13, 2018- Package received at Vermont Center
July 16, 2018- Notice date for 18 months extension
August 22, 2018- Biometric Appointment done
July 15, 2019- Status changed to new card is being produced
July 17, 2019- Status changed to card was mailed to me
July 19, 2019- Received the approval notice and Green card in the mail
 
There was no transfer, no RFE, and no interview.

Right right, i probably should have said, not until going to the immigration court and get denied by the court judge..

Typically you just keep the letter for your records, but it’s useless for travel on its own once you’ve surrendered the expired GC. Also, as with everything else, USCIS is incredibly inconsistent from office to office and even from officer to officer within the same office as to whether they’ll keep take your GC from you when you get the stamp. Some do, some don’t, assume that they will but they might not. Regardless, once you have the stamp you don’t need to carry anything else but your passport with the stamp to enter back into the country.

Yes I've traveled 4 times while pending 751. 2 of them with just the expired GC and the extension letter. 2 of them with the stamp on the passport, without the GC nor the extension letter

Yes, I will book the tickets in the name on my passport. I did the same when I booked my tickets while my conditional GC was not expired yet. Thank you for the reminder!

No need for a stamp. All you need is your expired GC, Passport and the extension letter. No need for your marriage Cert. either

Marriage certificates are recommended if the GC name and the foreign passport name does not match.  I agree about not needing a stamp.
 
To the OP, what you are taking is fine, but one suggestion, take a few copies of the extension letter. One time my wife was traveling and the airline in China at check-in asked to keep a copy of the letter and one does not want to give them the original.

Yes you are understanding it correctly. The only two thing you must have is the expired green card and the extension letter. 
 
And of course you have to have a passport to travel internationally.
