I had my citizenship interview done on 06th of January, 2021. The interview went well and the interviewing officer handed me the form N-652 with the box checked for "Congratulations your application is recommended for approval".

It has been more than two and a half weeks since then with no movement forward.

At this point I am still not particularly worried or concerned at the lapse of these two and a half weeks. I gather that the USCIS has 120 days from the date of the interview to issue a final decision.

But how long should I wait before I start making some inquiries?

And if I do reach such a point - who should I specifically be talking to or what is the best way/method to find out what is happening with my application?

Any insights are deeply appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi, I had N-400 interview on Jan 6th,2021, too. I was with Atlanta Field Office. and I am still waiting for the Oath Ceremony to be scheduled.

Did you request a name change? I do, and I was told that name change will take longer since I will need a judicial ceremony. I read a lot on other forums rgds oath ceremony schedule with a name change, some people had to wait abt 9 months.

Did you bring originals of things like birth certificate and marriage certificate? Do they give the originals back?

I did bring them just incase he asked but he didn't. he asked if I wanted to provide any updated documents, I gave him updated bank stt, utility bills, insurance..that was all, but he didn't bother to look at anything.

Thanks a lot.  I do appreciate you taking your time for all the info in detail.  Did they ask you to bring your spouse at the interview?

In the N-400 notice of interview letter, they didn't require to bring spouse. However, In the I-751 letter, it was specifically stated that I must bring my spouse to the interview. So I brought my husband with me and I am glad that I did.

I think you should be good with the docs. My experience was like once we went into the officer office. He just asked to submit all the proofs we brought which are new from the time of filing the form. So its our choice which once we want to submit and not them asking us for specific one's from there side.

Yeah the queue is moving fast. Got the Oath scheduled within the week of interview. So that's good news for ATL filers.

    Hi there.

Are you gonna change name at Oath Ceremony? I had interview on Jan 6th, looked like same day with you. I requested a name change, still waiting for the Oath Ceremony to be scheduled. How long did you get the schedule after interview?

    Thanks

Hey, how did your interview go? Did they send you the letter saying it was combo interview? My N-400 interview is scheduled for Feb 11 but i-751 is still pending. I am assuming mines will be combo too.

Did you have to take your spouse to your interview too? Since yours was combo, what other documents did you take besides the ones mentioned in the n-400 interview letter? Appreciate your help 🙏

    Hi there

I got approved both and in line to be scheduled for Oath Ceremony. I received N-400 interview letter on Nov 30th for interview on Jan 6th, then 1.5 week just before the interview, I received another letter for I-751 interview with same date, time and location with N-400.

I took my spouse with me to my interview. I took updated tax transcripts, bank statement, health/auto/life insurance, some pictures, that's all. I handed all to the officer that interviewed me but he didn't even bother looking at them.

My interview was scheduled on 1.10pm but wasn't called til 2.15pm (Atlanta Field Office). It was super simple. I bought some of updated documents like bank stt, proofs of health insurance, Auto/Home insurance, utility bills... Officer asked me if I wanted to provide him any updated documents, i handed to him all, He took them but didn't bother look at them. He asked my husband (the petitioner - USC) :
How we met? when did we got married? any child (no)?
Then He said he thinks that there's no issue so he will approve this I-751, then move to N-400 questions, He asked my husband to step out and wait outside. N-400 questions, writing, reading was all simple, then he had me confirm my info what will be on my Citizenship Cert.
Then that was it. He said he will submit the case for quality review, then it should be approved.
What I need to do is just wait.

Hi @Lulabi, same, My interview letter also only stated interview for N400. Dont think they send notifications for combo interview. I was reading in multiple places and on this forum and realized that since my i751 is pending it most likely is going to be a combo interview. So I emailed uscis from the online account asking whether its a combo interview and if I should have my spouse come with me. After about 2/3 weeks I got a response "Bring your spouse to the interview". No other acknowledgement :)

Some people here ( @chrissandra ) have gotten phone calls from immigration officers few days before their interview asking for the spouse to accompany them for the combo interview. I didn't get any call though.

Good luck with your interview. If your i751 is pending i would bring your spouse to the interview. Worst case they wait in the waiting room for a couple hours

Thank you so much. I will email them to ask to make sure. :D but I will still take my spouse with me just in case

    Thank you for sharing !

Hello VJ friends, today I attended to my Oath Ceremony and received my certificate of Naturalization. The long journey is now finally over. If anybody interested in the timeline of whole process I have updated my timeline. Wish you all good luck!!

    Hi, congrats to you

may I ask that how you knew that your interview was a combo? My interview letter only mentioned abt N-400 so I wondered if mine is combo?

    Thanks

    Hi all,

Update to my case. I had my naturalization (combo) interview today. Went with my wife and daughter. Checked in and waited for my name to be called. When all of us started to go in the interview officer said to my wife that she didn’t need to come. We believe you’re married and laughed. So it was just me. He went straight into civics questions. After those were done he went into some routine questions from the application and then approved me. No 751 questions at all.
To top it all off I had my oath ceremony there itself in 15/20 mins.
Was in and out in less than an hour with naturalization certificate in hand.
Good luck to everyone still waiting. Hope your interviews go as smoothly as mine did.

    hey Congratulation to you.

I am having an interview on Jan.

May I ask you a question? how did you know that it was a combo interview? my interview notice letter only mentioned about N-400. I wondered if it's a combo.

    Thank you

  11. My I-751 was filed in Jan 2019 to Texas, was transferred to NBC from Jan 2020 right after I filed N-400 in Jan 2020. Since then, there's no further update.

my N-400 estimated completion is Jan 2021. The estimate for the next update went to 0 day yesterday then now it said your case takes longer than expected >,<

    My local office is Atlanta.

Anyone in the same boat??? I greatly regretted that I filed N-400 while I-751 is pending.

So tired physically and mentally :((

I will need another stamp real soon for my driver license :(

One more thing, I tried to call USCIS many times but never be able to speak with any real person rgds my case. Please advise meeeee,

    Thanks alot, friends

My case was received by USCIS early October, 2018 (Nebraska). I did my bio around July, 2019 and didn't hear anything since then. My 18 month extension expired few months back. I am planning to attend college soon and I submitted my application. They sent me an email saying I was admitted and my status show 'checking legal status'. Just last week, I contacted Ombudsman immediately with a print version of the email and they replied within 2 days saying they have reached-out to USCIS. Boy little did I know this would lead to my approval 5 days later! Some 675 days later, I couldn't believe when I see the case tracker app notification "New Card is Being Produced". If Ombudsman contacted USCIS, there is a good chance you will get your approval soon. Cheers!

Awesome. Congrats to you. Did you apply N-400 yet?
I contacted Ombudsman and they replied saying that I have pending i-751 and N-400 so the waiting is longer and still within  processing time frame :(

  13. 3 hours ago, JackieCastillo said:

I made lots of inquiries online, ombudsman, by phone, etc. related to "case out of timing".  I invite you or anybody with cases out of USCIS estimated times, to do the same.  The last resource they recommend is contacting your local US Representative.  In my case, I did: inquiry out of time at uscis online, inquiry ombudsman and few phone calls and chat (Emma) thru uscis tools.  This is Ombudsman link: https://www.dhs.gov/topic/cis-ombudsman/forms/7001, they will receive your inquiry only if case it out of time.

Thank you so much for your advice. Will follow it.

Thanks.  Yes, as soon as I sent the N400 on Jan-15th-2020, they transferred my I751 to NBC on Jan-29th-2020.   After that, nothing happened till now that my case was approved, no RFE, no interview, all ok, thanks God!

Thank you. You just gave me hopes. My case is exactly the same. I’m abt to enquiry out of processing time. Did you send an enquiry before?
so excited abt your approval. Hope it happens to me soon.

    Unbelievable,

I checked my status today after 5pm and guess what it says ? New card being produiced !!!! I hope it's not a glitch ! Myuscis account still is not reflecting the change.

Finally can focus on N400 and be done with this long journey, I wish everyone a fast journey, faster than mine.

No AOS or I75 interview. Filed December 10th, so they are waving the interview requirement.

    Omg Congratulation!!!

My timeline is very very similar to yours. So tired of waiting and just hope I could have my i751 approved.
You’re the second case I’ve heard that having i751 approved while pending N400.

The status before was "We transferred your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, to another USCIS office that now has jurisdiction over your case." Then suddenly it changed to "We ordered your new card." yesterday. This morning it changed to "case was approved".

I applied in 12/27/2018. So its about 15.5 months since I applied.

    Hope that help!

    Hi Justwaiting2018.

So happy to read your post since I'm having a very similar to your timeline and still waiting. I really regretted that I applied N-400 while I-751 is pending since the waiting seems to be stretched out endlessly.

I really hope that my I-751 would end up like yours.

When was your I-751's status changed to "transferred to another office"?

Mine was transferred from Jan 2020. It's been 4 months already and still nothing :(

i751 - still pending (case status: we have received your case)

    n400 - interview scheduled for April 14.

    All the mixed emotions.

I got my timeline similar to yours. I submitted N-400 on Jan 13. Earlier, It did show that estimate time 8 months (done on Oct 2020). Now the estimate disappeared. My local office is Atlanta field office.

My I-751 was transferred to NBC Since Jan 14.

Yours is super quick. I guess you will get rid of all these stuff sooner than me.

  18. I filed 751 on 12/30, 01/04 got text message with Case #, 02/04 not received anything —-> e-request ——-> wait 2 weeks : nothing, gc almost expired, call uscis again: got infopass scheduled, ——> got stamp 551 on passport and they took my gc——> went home, got notice that receipt was mailed ——-> after 5 days got extension letter <—— but now useless without gc 🙁, so i got only 1 year extension, instead of 18 months.

    Lesson: be patient guys 😞
