Yes, but it's been more than 7 wks with the reopening being extended over and over. Just worried about the deadline or that when he eventually gets to fly in they'll say he missed his deadline to get in.
Contacted the embassy but got a generic email response and phone calls aren't being answered except for emergencies.

Hi all,
My spouse got his IR-1 approved and was set to travel in March. Covid happened and the airlines eventually cancelled all flights after rescheduling several times.
His deadline to get in is fast approaching (July 23). What do I do?
He's in Nigeria and the govt has just stated it'll reopen but they've said that 3 times before and didn't.
Is there a way I can get a waiver to let him in when the airports reopen? Is there a provision in USCIS for this?
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

I just talk to some one who landed yesterday at Atlanta airport and he told me that normal waiting time was between 15 to 45 minutes. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best.
Ok, I will . Thanks a lot for your input!

It took me a total combined wait of 20 minutes, including waiting in line and secondary processing when I entered on CR1. 10 minutes of which was waiting in line. This was about a month ago.
considering the coronavirus, it may or may not take longer. Generally it is suggested to have 2-3 hours for initial entry via CR1.
Did you have a connecting flight?
Someone said that the airlines are aware of the potential delays in immigration processing and customs and that if he misses his flight, they can put him on the next available one. I sure hope so.

It probably is not. I would never schedule a connection that slow at a POE even as a US Citizen with Global Entry, UNLESS, there is a later flight the same day, that I can catch if I miss the short connection. On the other hand, with things as they are now, ANYTHING could happen. What is his date of travel and routing?
Thank you for your response. Flight options are not numerous right now, we had to cancel and move his flight forward because of the Europe and UK restrictions and so have had to chose the flight that was available and those were the layover options. This new flight is in May.

Can't tell due to health screening and shorted staffs because of this pandemic. And yes, he will have to pick his luggages to clear at custom before dropping them off again for connecting flight.
Oh wow, there's a lot going on so we can only hope! Thanks for clarifying,
2 hours may not be sufficient time to get all that done then.
-
Thanks for your replies, but I also wanted to know if the 2 hour layover is sufficient to get this accomplished before he gets on the next flight?
And if he would have to get his luggage and check back in

Hi everyone,
I have a question about my spouse's arrival. He has a connecting flight that will be 2 hours after his flight arrives at the POE (Atlanta).
What is the immigration processing like (he has electronic processing)?
Does it take a long time? (will he likely be done to catch his connecting flight)?
Does he have to go through customs also?
Will he have to get his luggage and check in again? (It's the same airline)
Thanks in advance!

You don't need to create any profile..creating account for Visa pickups is for non immigrant category, I'm sure you all have your CEAC account, you'll be notified there...I hope this helps
So if I understand correctly, we don't need to set up a profile account? We just go do the medical and then after the visa approval, we get information on where to pick it up the passport and then tell us where to pay the fees? Please confirm
-
I am having difficulty creating a profile for my spouse via this link: https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/?language=English&country=Nigeria
our interview date is 2/6/20.
should the registration/ creating a profile part only be done in nigeria? i tried to create a profile from here and i couldn't then i got a message about a site adminstrator being alerted.
what about paying the fees? when and where is this done?
please help.
are there instructions for this anywhere? I don't want to make a mistake.
thank you

Yes brother, However on that UStravel website where you are asked to create an account online. the last step will ask you to chose interview date. I dont think that is for us. but that is the last page. i didnt chose anything but just registered my details i hope that is enough. that is why i was asking.
Congrats to you! Where is the link to create an account online. I clicked on the city for Lagos and selected immigrant interview and it took me here: https://sslvpn.cgifederal.com/dana-na/auth/url_default/welcome.cgi
Is this correct? Please help!
Are there any instructions for this?

If NVC has your email, they communicate via email. If they don't, then they communicate via post. It's one or the other, not both.
Thanks. I guess a print out of the interview letter from the email is acceptable to take to the interview then?
-
Did anyone get an actual letter in the mail from NVC when they got a case number? We only got an email and no hard copy.
So regarding this interview letter, will it be the same?
Should we just print out the email (when we receive it) and take to the interview?

Re-submission was Oct 28

Please read the information here https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/Presidential-Proclamation-on-Health-Care.html
You can get the insurance here if its difficult for your fiance /Fiancee adding you on by his employer. https://www.vcaffiliate.com/vcaff/acc.php?pid=MjE3&mid=MGI2NTViMTA1N2NjOQ==&path=inbound-immigrant-insurance
Thanks a lot for the links. I know there is a restraining order on the rule, but I'd like to err on the side of caution. We now live in different times. I have contacted my HR/Benefits department this morning and I am waiting to hear back from them.

@Madufor Uzoma A Since the CO mentioned that your wife did not include the helath insurance for you? Are you not aware that they have now included that as mandatory for everyone? Were you given a 221G white paper?
Hope to hear from you.
I am wondering about this too...What health insurance should she have submitted? I thought being employed was sufficient but read somewhere that it isn't because that employee health coverage kicks in within 90 days. Do you or does anyone know where to buy immigrant health insurance, or what should we do to observe this new rule?

It likely means there's something missing: information or document.
