Good to see another Thailand to NC guy around. What part of the state are you from, if you don't mind me asking. I'm over in Tarboro.
I'm just next door in Winterville NC.
PM me your cell phone number and we can catch up for a drink over the weekend!

Sorry to revive a dead thread here but I have a question with my process. I am currently on Packet 4 and have the interview time and everything for my fiance (which is in two weeks). I never sent in a Packet 3 only the three documents they requested from me in the packet 3 email to receive an interview date.
Do I still need to send in a packet 3 and these documents to the embassy despite having a confirmed interview date?
After reading the Packet 3 email it states to scan in the DS-2001, Confirmation of DS-160, and the GSS confirmation. It then says to prepare all other documents and have originals and copies to present at the interview. Just curious what people have been doing recently?
This is for the K1 Visa.
Thanks.
no longer needed. they changed the process a few months ago and now almost al documents have to be brought in person and will be reviewed during the interview.

medical passed today, fiancee has the envelops and the embassy called and offered a month earlier appointment, so now we are scheduled for Aug 19th!
they did that because we have 2 kids and I told them we are trying to get them to the USA for the beginning of the school year, so they don't miss too much or arrive too late when the class already formed with friendships established.
less than 3 weeks to go

The thread for Panama is pretty dead too.
We're waiting to be assigned an interview date as well.
Other than that, we have to get police reports and the medical appointment completed and we are good to go. Praying for a 7/31 interview date.
good luck for an early interview!
we got ours and it's 9/12. Per the embassy there is nothing earlier

just as recent as a month ago the Bangkok embassy was scheduling K visa interviews 2 weeks out.
unfortunately summer vacation and probably staffing issues happened there and they got backed up, so now they are scheduling 2 months out..
here is a response I received from the IV scheduling unit:
"We do not have visa interview appointment on the requested date. There is no visa interview for the first and second week of August. The schedule is fully booked until SEPT 12, 2019"

hello thank you.
I am just confused about the shortening to 60 days validity period...
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (“USCIS”) have just announced a change in their policy regarding the validity period of a Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, when filed in support of a Form I-485 Adjustment of Status Application. Effective November 1, 2018, the I-693 medical report will be valid for two years from the date of submission to USCIS (and not one year as it is currently). At the same time, USCIS are shortening the I-693 validity period to 60 days from the date the Civil Surgeon signs the I-693 medical exam (it used to be one year).
to me this reads like that:
1) vaccination records can be used in the USA for up to 2 years in connection with an AOS application (So they don't make you do another exam)
2) after vaccination in foreign country you better be having your interview in 60 days, hence the embassy insist on having the medical just a few days/week before the interview appointment

@Greenbaum do you know when is the earliest time i can do the medical before the interview?can I do it a month before?
the medical is valid for 6 months.
i.e. if you complete it today July 10th, your visa validity will be capped at November 10th.
So in reality if your interview is on August 10th, due to your medical 6 month limit the visa will expiry on November 10th in 5 months only.
so use the above to decide if it's a good time for you to do it or not.
In our case we started the medical in Northern-Thailand knowing that it will take 1 month to complete it. The gonorrhea test is sent up to Bangkok.
So I estimate the interview date on August 2nd and the medical will just complete for us on July 31st.

Anytime throughout the day is my experience! Many times not just once no set times.
I'm in Asia with my fiancee with +11 hours time diff from EST, so I will just go to sleep and wake up tomorrow expecting an "in transit" status on the account by the time it's end of the day at NVC

This might be stretching it - but Do you know around what time it ships? Couldn’t sleep all day waiting for this shipment. Anyone’s status updated yet ??
June 25 shipment date and here is the actual result from DHL for Thailand 2 weeks ago.
My understanding is that NVC will update each case's status on their tracking and in about 1-2 days later you can start to pull info from DHL.
as you can see the actual pickup was the next day on the 26th but people's status were updated a day before on the NVC tracker.
-
tomorrow is the next 2 week cycle when they are suppose to update the status to "in transit" to many of us.
fingers crossed, I've read many same day status updates 2 weeks ago, so we should be celebrating too in 24 hours

Nvc will sendemail to the beneciary stating that they received your case and follow the instructions given.
I doubt you understood my question. Many of us don't get the email updates even if they have a valid registered email address.
I will answer my own question: it will change to "in transit" once mailed, no other update from the the "at NVC" status.

Called NVC midday today and got our case number within minutes (using the second phone number in the PDF). NOA2 is May 29 and according to the Julian calendar, case number was assigned June 20. We did not receive any kind of email as others have mentioned. Considering they assigned it almost two weeks ago this leads me to believe they screwed up the petitioner's email address when entering it into the system...?
if I remember right the cutoff for last shipment was June 19th so you just missed it. I'm in the same shoes got NVC case ID assigned on June 21st, so just missed the last shipment.
we should be shipping out next Tuesday, check online your case status on Wednesday , July 10th and it should update to "in transit"

once the case is "at NVC: is there any point contacting them on the phone?
I mean...could there be a multiple-day delay that the case completed just not updated on the website, or anything similar ?
I would rather not call and waste 45-60 minutes for a response like "we are processing and it can take 1-200 years"

I'm curious if anyone else has encountered this scenario on the DS-160. We answered all of the questions prompted to complete the form. But when we get to the "Review" page, it has blank spots that ask if additional phone numbers/emails have been used within the past 5 years. ...When we go back to edit, we aren't allowed to add anything (the "add additional" button is grayed out). Should we just ignore these blanks spaces on the Review page? ...also, we can't record more than 2 past employers in the DS-160 -he had more than 2 in the past 5 years. I hope the consulate won't see it as an issue, we can't control that the fields are staying blank.
i had that field and also completed a second facebook account, which I've added. shouldn't be greyed out.
This happens when you don't save the form and the option just doesn't refresh.
Save the form on this page and continue editing. it should activate the dropdown.
if not, there is not much more I can think of how to get that one completed.

Posting to keep track of the thread - our NOA2 was 5/24/19 but I haven't gotten anything in the mail from NVC. Just now updated the email address in their system (Link from the PDF).
Does anyone know if, let's say the case number was assigned before they had my email, is there any way to get the case number other than calling or waiting on the snail mail notification?
Thanks all.
i think calling NVC is your best bet if you have not received the information through your email.
I registered my email in time, still they didn't email me anything while I already obtained case ID through the phone.

Can we use W2 forms instead of tax transcripts? My sponsor says that it would be the same kind of info as submitting tax transcripts if I use W2’s
TIA
W2 is not the same as a tax transcript.
In case of an individual who has multiple source of income, let's say a small business owner with income who also works part-time at a company and receives a W2 wage and also has rental properties which he/she rents out and gets rental income....all this will be on a tax transcript, but only the employer related income will be on a W2.
for example:
business made 1 million dollar loss
rental properties are under water, making 200,000 loss for the year
employment income 100,000
this person will be at a 1.1 million negative income, heading toward bankruptcy, while the W2 only would give a picture that he is able to maintain immigrants sponsored.
I hope this helps to explain why a W2 will not be accepted and the embassy will always insist on the tax transcript.

at the GSS registration stage after paying the visa fee, how long does it take until the receipt number is recognized in the system and we can finish the application?
we paid 24 hours ago and I still get the "invalid receipt number" error message

i just called NVC...8th try and got through then when I pressed 1 for English..nothing...then after some time since it was non-responsive it hung up on me
now I'm at try 34th and got through again and the menu options finally are responsive!
sharing with all, so those who keep asking how to get through to NVC, now you know!
Just browse the internet and have the phone next to you and relax...in 30 mins and about 30 tries you will get through

an interesting experience which I wanted to share:
Understanding of obtaining a Thai police certificate before getting it: takes 3 weeks, no expediting available. If asked for money for "expediting" refuse. Those who paid still waited 3 weeks to get their certificate. Normal request was for 1000 baht.
Actual experience: fiancee visited the Bangkok police HQ on June 11th to request. I told her to just pay the bribe money. They asked 2000 baht, took her photo on site and the police cert was mailed on June 17th, received in her house a few days letter in Chiang Mai.
So contrary to my belief, this was certainly much faster than the normal expected 3 weeks processing time. Not that we needed faster processing, I simply didn't want an upset officer to hold up the application for a few extra weeks...
-
no, not allowed. At least no one I know of who accompanied their fiancee was allowed to enter during the past few months.
they all had a coffee at the corner of the embassy and waited.

We found a local lawyer who took up the sole custody letter for her son. The process took less than a week, and the lawyer charged 7000 baht. Not bad at all.
what do you mean, took up a letter?
the lawyer wrote a letter?
please elaborate more in detail what happened.
