  1. What we do is.....on our bags with built-in locks, we write the code on a sticker so that they don't have to be broken off - they did search them (found the 'security checked' sticker on the outside and a note on the inside) but they also locked them back up for us. On our bags with zippers that you attach a lock to, we fasten them with a zip-tie which stopped them from being opened accidentally but they can be easily cut off for inspection.

I traveled 7 times to the US from the UK and my bags were checked 5 times....I never had anything taken, but then I always carried any valuables in my carry-on.

    thank you lady bird

most probably even i will be travelling thru airindia thru london hithrow

though not yet booked the tickets as of now

your suggesstion of writing security code of built in locks is really appreciable i can always do that by putting a sticker and putting a brown cover with tape above that code which they can open easily if they want to inspect

great idea yipee thanks so much

  2. Only time I had my bags inspected was going back to Brazil back in 1997, and it was opened in front of me, so I could unlock it. Besides that I never had my bags unlocked which is good since I had one of those samsonites with built in locks.

thanks so much luis and lara

i too have this bag but i am feeling after reading many posts that they dont open the baggages unless something suspicious like any valuable or any sharp object i wont be carrying any thing which will make them suspicious n i will be also keeping the valuables in handbag :)

  3. hello to everyone ,

i have been searching a lot and to my surprise the airtickets one way are sky high :(

i would really like anyone help me out for cheaper air tickets any contact no's in us or india of travel agents or any good online sites ????

i would be very thankful n obliged

    thanks a lot,Mala

On short notice in the summer, there isn't much you can do to get cheap tickets. You can try to find airlines with last minute far offers, but thats about as good as your going to get.
    aww:(

    anyway thx a lot dan&gemvita

feels sad but anyway will be trying the best if any last min offer comes otherwise no other alternative

    mala

You will sometimes find cheaper fares for a round trip as opposed to a one way.

Always search both even if you have no intent to use the return trip.

that really seems a good idea - :)

  8. Hi everyone. I'm just in the process of getting all of our documents together for our interview (yet to be scheduled), and I noticed that on our Bank Statements, our name is listed as:

Husband LastName OR Wife MaidenName LastName

Do you think this will be a problem since it does not say ... AND ... ? I know i'm probably fretting over nothing, but it just takes an act of congress to get my bank to change names on an account heh.

    Thanks again as always!

i think it wont be a problem if u ask the bank to email or give u a print out or record that it is a joint account owned by both of you

  9. But it came from CSC so maybe that will mean that things may progress faster (hahahaha!!)

That's interesting.. Is NSC transferring I-751 cases to CSC now?

Well the letter and the envelope that had my photos in had CSC address on it. I was thinking of sending it directly to them! Knowing my luck i'd get it sent back!!!!

Well I got a nice envelope today in the mail from USCIS and boy was I excited until I opened it and found my packet in side along with a letter saying that I had submitted a photcopy of the I-751 and not the original!!! aaaaaaaaaaaargh

Also enclosed was a list of the new fees (Yeah thanx rub it in!)

But it came from CSC so maybe that will mean that things may progress faster (hahahaha!!)

I did the same thing on one of my forms. Damn printers are so good now you can hardly tell the difference.

    USCIS did tho.

OOps ! Nice of them to give you the new fee schedule.

The stamp on my I-751 and date of letter said 23rd July and so basically they waited to send it back knowing they can make a few more $$$'s

    :(

  11. Hi All,

Just wanted your thoughts on this issue.

I am a green card holder and wanted to sponsor a family friend from india for 1 month vacation. Is it going to be difficult for her to get a visa from india although she is married, employed, and owns a home in india.

Should I state that I will support her financially in the US? I am filling out the I-134 as well.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Faiz

faiz i think for getting a visitor visa she can get easily thru showing strong ties to her country

tell her to contact very competent immigration attorneys like himish bhatnagar , from new delhi

there are hardly any cases of rejection wiht him

and 1st counselling is free so that she can be contended

if u need any details i will ask from my frnd who got a visitor visa for 6 weeks along with her k-3 pending status

    -Mala
