Is your soon to be your new spouse American?

Depending on when you divorced even being a green card holder you won't be able to sponsor your new spouse

Thank you. No I am not planning to sponsor a new spouse. Just a general question to consider in dating a citizen, if I had to consider marriage out of the question until after 5 years, but based on previous responses, this is ok.

  2. Good Day viewers:

I was married to a US Citizen for 4 years, after joining him in the US things did not work out as the distance and wait took a toll on our relationship and many things were being discovered on my arrival. We tried to work it out but ended up getting divorce shortly after. I was granted a 10 Yr GC before. I understand I will have to wait 5 years minimum to begin the naturalization process.

    1. During this 5-year wait period, if I remarry, would my new marriage have any impact on the outcome of my naturalization application and how so?

    2. Or does it mean I should wait until after I naturalize to consider getting remarried ?

    Thank you in advance.

  3. Hello

So my husband and I have decided on moving when I get to the US. The current address was the one submitted on the DS 260 form where it asked where I would like my green card mailed. I have not had the interview as yet, what is the best way to go about changing the address to the new place we plan to live? Should I tell the CO at the interview about this planned move and give the him/her the new address there ?

Also, we are concerned about not finding work right away, I have a good job in my country and we are also thinking that I would enter before the time the medical lapse and then come back to my country to continue work until my green card arrives and also search for work in the meantime. Any implications of entering and then leaving before my GC arrives here?

    Please advise.

    Thank you.

  4. Good Day

I am unsure of how to answer this question on DS 5540...

PART 4: List below all US federal tax returns you have filed within the last 3 years and attach your IRS transcript:

I am the beneficiary who live outside the US, my husband in the US files married filing seperately as my income is not stated on his tax return....for the above question do I attach his tax returns? The same ones I uploaded to the CEAC website?

  5. Hi guys

The DS 5540 is filled out with the beneficiary details, right? Or for assets etc its combined with the petitioner for spouse ?

You are mistaken.  It states Original OR Certified Copies (Notarized Copies) and a photocopy

If you were married in the US, the only document that you should be submitting from RGD is his birth certificate and the birth certificates of any of his children.

Also, JA (RGD) documents are printed on legal size paper, not letter sized paper so they are suggesting that you make the photocopy at reduced size 92% to make it still legible. If you cut off the bottom of the document, they will not accept the photocopy and will keep the original.

Thanks alot, this clears it up.

Nothing from RGD is needed, your marriage certificate from the US is all you need to provide.  JA accepts it.  The original birth certificate and original marriage certificate is required at the interview.  All original documents are required at the interview.

    Thank you

I was just curious as to what they meant by original and certified copies in red writing as per the attached and asking for it to be reduced to 92%. So I was thinking I needed to apply to RGD for a certified copy of my original as well and bring that plus the original.

  8. Hi Guys

I am checking off the documents I have while waiting for interview:

    1. I have a marriage certificate from a US state as we got married in the US, do I also need to also get a Jamaican marriage certificate from Registers General Dept (RGD) to take to the interview?

    2. For the copy of the birth certificate, is this a regular photocopy or a photocopy stamped by the Registers General Dept.?

    Thank you.

  9. Good day

I had an anxiety attack 5 years ago in my final year of college. I was a double major student plus work full time. I went to work 8:30am to 4:30 pm and attended classes from 6pm to 9pm.

I took summer classes and in the summer before my final semester just while prepping for a corporate finance exam I panicked.

I couldn't sit the exam and was referred to the school psychiatrist and he prescribed a drug which I took for about a year. I never went back to see the school psych because I never had an episode since.

On my medical history form attached would this be considered a Major mental illness ?

If yes what are the implications going forward?

I got an email from NVC saying that my case is documentarily qualified. I re-submitted my document on March 17, 2020 and got approved on May 18, 2020. It took exactly 8 weeks-(60 days) standard time frame.

This was the exact day March 17 I resubmitted and awaiting too. I checked the NVC website and it is saying as of Mayb18, 2020 they are reviewing February 14, 2020. I hope to hear something soon too.

Not sure about that stage. You would think the order would allow current petitions to finish processing. Maybe just suspend new applicants?

Thats what I am thinking too. And then there is the matter of seperating families, so I am wondering if this applies to certain class(es) of immigrant visa. I hope we can hear something concrete soon. There is so much anxiety and living on edge with this process due to things keep changing. Every now and then there is something new. Sigh.
