Hey guys, so I unfortunately will not be able to make it to the interview due to work. Do you think this a strong reason why a case could be potentially denied at the embassy? I mean, I really see no flags in our case except I cannot be at the interview.  I work a lot with immigrant visas around the world, but generally in all other embassies the petitioners are not allowed to approach the officers window at all or in some cases not even allowed to enter the building. I know Kyiv is different in this manner, and have heard that a few times they allow both to approach, and always tends to go well when this happens.

So I was just wondering what do you guys think? How detrimental is it that I am not going?

From what I’ve heard and experienced myself it seems that now they have two COs in Kyiv embassy. One CO doesn’t allow the petitioner to be present at the interview (woman) and another one speaks to both, beneficiary and petitioner.
Our case was kinda with red flags and I got couple of not very nice questions but was approved without my fiancé being present.
My fiancé was super busy at that time too with work and I really didn’t want him to be stressed trying to squeeze that trip in his busy period...

What you are looking for is form DS-3025. During your visit to Medicom you need to very explicitly tell them "I am K-1 applicant, and I want to be voluntarily vaccinated for the missing shots." Then make sure they check correct box at the bottom of form DS-3025. If you don't, they will check the box 'K-1 applicant refused vaccinations since they are not required" which might create issues for you later in US when dealing with AOS

    Thanks!

Yes.. but not always you can get everything at Medicom as far as I got them (some vaccines can't be done together; for some revaccination is needed in four weeks; some vaccines they just do not have). In this case I believe they just fill whatever I have at the moment to form DS-3025 and if something is missing I just need to take a translation of proof I got the rest after medical. Is this sound right?

Can any of these be done at Medikom?  I have to think so.  Is there an advantage to having them done elsewhere?  Is Medikom more expensive?  Would any of these hold up issuance of a K-1 visa?

Medicom has DPT vaccines (50$, I believe she said the type they have is required to be done once) and Varicella (twice: 64$+$64).

For Measles they do not have as far as I remember.

Well, I will try to do free shots in my family doctor, I honestly do not think there is any difference and do Varicalla elsewhere, cause this one is not required in Ukraine so it is not FOC.

Maybe you fiancee will have antibodies to Varicella and Measles, so she won't need any or maybe only one.

Unfortunately I do not have antibodies (I already checked them in private laboratory)

Interesting.  When my fiancee made her appointment the woman said the vaccine report wasn't required/necessary but we have it so it will be brought to the exam.  It is also translated in English.

I am happy she is having her medical exam next week.  Maybe it gives us time to get things done, receive her papers, etc.  Then we can have our interview in August.  I hope no long term complications that could delay the visa.  My fiancee is healthy but I am anxious to hear the results.  I'm hoping everything is textbook and routine.

Yes right it is not required for k1, but she will need it later for AOS. The translation is also not required, they have thier own certified form, and they will put everything from old records to this form, also they will do IgG blood tests no matter what she has in her records, because ppl here sometimes buy all this papers..

I just want to be sure I won't need to be busy with this stuff in US..

  5. Hi,

I was trying to figure out what vaccine shots I need, so maybe you will find this info helpful. This is only for Ukraine, I called Medicom couple of times already lol

I advice to pay attention to this 3 vaccines:

    1. DPT vaccine (АКДС). It has to be not older than 10 years. Needs to be repeated if more than 10 years passed from the last one. Can be made for free by family doc (not sure how many times, depends on vaccine).

    2. Varicella (Вітрянка). For this one you have to do blood test for Varicella Zoster Virus, IgG. If there are no antibodies this shot is also needed. This one is not free, only can be made in private medical centers (2 times), $60 each approx.

    3. MMR (КПК). No matter if this was done before, anti-Measles virus IgG test is needed. In case if there are no antibodies the shot is required. THIS IS A NEW REQIUREMENT. The girl from call center said this rule is from yesterday and it is extremely strict, cause we have a lot of measles lately. Can be made for free by family doc.

It seems i need all three even though i didn't miss any vaccine shots when I was a child....frustrating...

In case some shots will be made after medical they advice to make a translation of paper that prooves this and take it to US.

The "hurry up & wait" is frustrating, but again, use the extra time to your fullest benefit.  Not only collect the vital personal documents as suggested before, but also renew her passport before the visa goes in it (a passport with a long expiration date can be a true boon), and make plans for what you want to happen after U.S. arrival -- schooling, travel, etc.  This enables  both of you to hit the ground running.

Added thought:  If she has a driver's license, get it renewed for the longest period possible.  If she doesn't have one but has the faintest opportunity to learn to drive between now and the interview, seize it.  A fresh driver's license is even more valuable than a long-valid passport.

Ukraine switched to biometric passports in 2016, so pretty much everyone has recently renewed thier passports.

It takes 1 day to renew driver's license and 5 days to get international driver's license..

I only wish I haven't quit my job this early... bummer 😆I think I need to find a new one

Would you know if your account was 'unfrozen' after 24 hours?  Or closer to 72?

Maybe they say 72 hours if it gets frozen on a Friday (because of the weekend)?

Yes, mine was frozen for approximately 60 hours including weekend, maybe it will be quicker in your case... Guys from call center told me some message was supposed to pop up about "too much activity", but I didn't get any.

Can someone please try to log into the portal and see if they are having access problems?  I am speaking about the portal where you schedule an appointment.  My normal password isn't working and I did a temporary password and that isn't working either.

They probably blocked you for 24-72 hours for too much activity. They have limit for checking available dates/checking if your payment was processed. I had the same problem.

Well, I made the profile and even started the DS-160. We are going to make our payment soon too. We still can't see the available dates, where are they located? It shows that you have to make the payment to see the dates.

I had it in my profile as shown on pic, but now it disappeared. I am not sure how it works. Maybe they will be available after payment and all info that is missing or maybe nothing is available.

Happy to see my prediction came true. It should arrive Friday, and Monday next week it should be fully hatched and ready. You probably will see status change from "In Transit" to "Ready" as soon as tomorrow, but case won't physically get there yet. Keep checking for dates, and, once you pay the visa fee, I wouldn't hesitate of actually calling Embassy and scheduling over the phone. Did you have your medical already?

    Yes, you were right!

This is my last week at work so I'm going to do everything next week (including medical). My fiance did say "It would be nice if you were here on 4th of July with me" but I didn't accept that challenge :D

  11. 20 minutes ago, Ray Family said:

Did you do your DS-160 and the Ukraine embassy hasn't received the petition yet? Is it okay to do this? The NVC also sent my petition to the embassy today, I have my NVC number... Should I go ahead and pay the fee and do the ds-160? Where on the embassy's website did you see the available interview dates?

Our petition was sent today too :)

Yes, I almost finished completing DS-160, now waiting for my fiance to check it:) You can save it on any stage and get back later. I am going to pay before the end of this month to be able to schedule interview. It seems they don't have available June dates now and July will be opened 31 May or 1 June. You can create account http://cdn.ustraveldocs.com/ua/ to see available dates. Several days ago nearest date was "June 27" now it is nothing there...

PS we were in Bukovel this past winter too :)

Did  your petition left NVC yet? If it hasn't, chances are good it will leave tomorrow, if it does, you should be able to pay fee if you hasn't yet, and I am guessing you did your DS-160 already, and book it. It is not a big deal to cancel/change it.

Thanks, Shiran! If our case leaves today/tomorrow I will try to book something. Hovewer, I do not see any available dates in my profile, so maybe they haven't opened July and June is fullly booked...

good morning! so i have been noticing that some of the timelines that i am checking out, they have NVC

received and NVC Case number assigment date on the same day... is that accurate?

It seems this happened to our case. I called on Friday and they told me they haven't received our petition yet.

I called again on Monday and I got a case number. I later checked when it was assigned and it happened on Friday. So I guess they received it later on Friday and assigned a case number same day.

  14. If it is about the criminal part don’t waste time and try your best to get the papers.

We got a RFE about not checking a box and I made my fiancé to go to court and get info about the case he considered to be ridiculous and not worth thinking about. We were approved within couple of days after they received it.

They just want to make sure you are aware of everything, especially if it was something about domestic abuse.

And they do ask for everything even if it was expunged.

Hope you will be approved soon. Stay positive!

be prepared for other random questions. The interviewer doesn't always just ask from the list. It just depends on your circumstances.

Thanks! Yes, I know they are being creative sometimes. Many years ago I had 2 interviews for J1 visa and I remember some questions were like: “What is your English teacher’s name?”.... this process is much more serious than student visa but it always can be something you don’t expect..

Yes, that is very frustrating to get your form kicked back to you for such a minor thing. It adds a month to your timeline. I had it happen to me. For this reason, we decided to have a consulting company in Kiev handle the paperwork on Her end. Couple hundred dollars well spent IMO. No more delays. I am so ready to see my girl!

Yes, very frustrating to wait another month...
I work with very serious documents all the time so I hope we do not need any help but unfortunately my sweetheart didn't let me help or check the l-129 😂

It is not a red flag, but be prepared to be asked about it during the interview. They approved him already on 129F stage so USCIS didn't see a problem with that. Kyiv Embassy might want to confirm with you that you are aware of this fact, and might ask if are aware of the details due to violence/abuse concerns.

Thanks! We are not approved yet, he just sent an RFE for not checking a box, but hope we will be soon.

I am prepared to any questions, I know more than enough ☺️

  18. We also thinking about my fiance attending my interview in Kyiv, though it will be very complicated for him because of the busy season at work. I know Kyiv is rather easy embassy, but we have a red flag. He previously applied to K1 in 2015 (she was Ukrainian too if it matters). They never got married and she returned home within 90 days. Do you have any ideas how big and significant this red flag is?

We had 5 personal meetings during last 2.5 years, so obviously have a lot of evidence.

    Thanks for any advice.
