Any other Feb filing folks waiting for interviews, did you hear back yet?

Sent the request on February 14. Done the biometrics on March 8. No update since then. I live in Austin, TX.

I have also uploaded the 2023 tax return and all the previous (empty) police records for all countries I lived in (Italy, UK and Netherlands).

I don't mind if my interview would be next year, I just would like to know so I can plan some trips with my family. The last thing I want is to book something and then being in that limbo in which I have no Green Card nor passport...

Hello Feb filers !    Did anyone submit EXTRA evidence ?   The last question before the REVIEW app.    In pressing the NEXT button I get the scary yellow box reminder saying I could be slowing down by application.   I have uploaded all my required evidence, but I am not sure what EXTRA would be recommended.   Any suggestions of what they are looking for to speed things along and smooth the waters here ?    I am a March filer.

I've submitted a document telling that I am working as an engineer here in Austin, bla bla bla, that I bought a house and bla bla bla and I sent pictures of my son with all his grandparents and a picture with the whole family (including my sister-in-law + her husband, my parents, my in-laws and my dog) in our backyard.

  3. Hi, I've received on April 9 this email from the Consulate:

We have finished with our administrative processing of your visa application.

Would you please send your passport to us as soon as possible?

    Thank you.

I've sent them my passport the next day. The status on the NVC site is "Issued". I tried to write to them, no reply.

Today is the 12th day that I am without my passport. How long does it take to put a visa on my passport?

Can a Consulate retain someone's password so long? Is this even legal?

    Thanks

  4. Hi,

I've sent my passport to the Consulate because I was instructed to do so. My visa is ready and they need to stick it to my passport.

I've sent it April 10. I wrote an email to them (you know... to check if they received my passport) but no reply. Passport should have arrived April 13.

On the site https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx I can read:

    Case Created: 05-May-2020
    Case Last Updated: 15-Apr-2021

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at: http://nvc.state.gov/interview
For more information, please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV.

I suppose that something happened on April 15. The description of the status is still the same since mid-February, only che "Case Last Updated" field has been updated.

Any idea of what this means?

    Many thanks.

  5. Hi,

I've sent my passport today to get my IR1 visa from the Consulate of Amsterdam. I should receive it back in about 1 week.

I have a job offer already, and I'm thinking to move to the US in May to start working the last week of May.

Can I work with my visa or must I wait for my SSN or Green Card to be delivered in America? Is there some sort of SSN or related number on the visa?

    Thanks

  6. Hi,

My wife(American) and I were DQd the 2nd of February 2021.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote to the Clinic in Amsterdam because (my mother) lost my vaccination record. They replied and told me what to do. They also told me when I wanted to book the visit.

I was waiting to book the visit until I know the interview date (according to the instruction on the CEAC website).

The Clinic, apparently, wrote to the Consulate and the Consulate wrote me:

The Panel Physician/Clinic in Amsterdam has contacted us since they have sent several emails to you but they are receiving no response.
Please let us know if you receive this email and if you wish to continue the processing of your immigrant visa.
If yes, please contact the clinic directly in Amsterdam as soon as possible.

I explained them the situation, but for what reason would they think that I want to renounce to the Visa?

Also, they included my wife into the email. How can they know her email address? This means they are already in contact with the NVC, aren't they?

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks
  7. Hi,

My wife and I live in Holland, she's American, I'm Italian. We applied for a CR1 visa.

The NVC has closed the case and it's ready to send it to the consulate in Amsterdam for the interview.

What is the situation of the consulates around the world?

In the US consulate of Amsterdam's website, it states:

Due to limited staffing, the U.S. Consulate in Amsterdam is only able to provide very limited emergency non-immigrant visa services until further notice.  This change in services does not affect currently scheduled immigrant visa appointments.

    What does it mean?

Are they providing ONLY non-immigrant visas?

Are they providing immigrant visas normally and very limited non-immigrant visa?

    This is very unclear!

    I saw other consulates' websites:

Germany seems to be closed, Belgium and Denmark seem to be open, UK is only slowing down.

Can you please share your info with me?

    Thanks

When you get an interview will depend, primarily, the backlog for your consulate.  Once NVC is happy with your documents, they will DQ the case.  Then the sequence is as follows:

    1. Case is DQ'd by NVC.

    2. Case the enters NVC queue for your consulate and waits at NVC.

    3. Consulate informs NVC of available interview date for upcoming month.

    4. NVC schedules interview when case reaches the front of the queue for that consulate.

    5. NVC notifies person of interview date.

    6. NVC then sends case to consulate.

After the interview is scheduled, it can take several days to several weeks for the consulate to receive the case.

    Thanks for this reply.

    The real question is:

    - on their website, they are reviewing cases from 90 days ago;

    - we submitted the documentation the 23rd of December;

    - after a couple of weeks they requested more documents;

    - I uploaded my missing document the 10th of January and they were approved after 6 days;

    - they requested more evidence, we submitted everything the 16th of January: they still need to be approved.

So, it's not true that they're reviewing cases from 90 days ago... Am I wrong?

  9. Hi,

We paid and uploaded all the documents to the NVC portal, the 23rd of December 2020.

We have already received three requests for providing more documents.

We have provided all the requested extra documents already.

The question is: the fact that they've asked for more, it means that our case has been / is being reviewed and we should get an appointment to the consulate soon?

On their website, it states that the 19 Jan 2021 they are reviewing cases from the 20 Oct 2020.

    Thanks!

You have enough but she is not required to show evidence of maintaining US domicile.  She MAY be asked for evidence she intends to re-establish US domicile.  Still, the evidence you list is more than enough.  Don't be surprised if this issue NEVER comes up for you.  It's mostly a Canada issue.

Unfortunately we were asked to do so. We were surprised, to be honest, but it's clearly stated in the Step 5 od the NVC list. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents.html

If you completed Form I-864I-864A, or I-864EZ and your mailing address and/or place of residence is not in the United States, but your country of domicile is the United States, write an explanation and provide documentary evidence indicating how you meet the domicile requirement.

    Have you been filing taxes?

(I wrote this post on my wife's behalf)

Yes, she filed Federal taxes every year even if (temporary) living with me abroad.

Have you gotten paystubs from a local employer, not telework or such. That could be your best proof of residence IMO

(I wrote this post on my wife's behalf)

No, she's working here with me abroad remotely.

  12. Hi, I'm trying to prove that I've maintained a domicile in the US. I'm using my parents' address. One of my parents is also a co-sponsor. How does this list compare to what you've used?

    -Car title and insurance

-Valid driver's license from my state

-Bank statements (bank is based in same city as domicile)

-Retirement statements (US accounts, of course)

-Proof of active voter status at domicile address

-Letter of acceptance into a state educator preparatory program. Also a statement from the governor's office to state principals saying I'm eligible to be hired as a first-year teacher. I've been working on the certification requirements.

    Many Thanks

  13. Hi,

My wife and I are uploading documents to the NVC portal.

I'm Italian, she's American. We are living together in the Netherlands, we are married and we have a 1-year old baby.

We are planning to move to America together.

My father-in-law lives in America and he filled the affidavit of support for me to be my sponsor.

Does my wife need to be my sponsor, too?

    Thanks

  14. Hi,

I'm Italian born in 1981. Military service was mandatory back in the days.

I was in the "Lista di Leva", (the list of guys who could do the military service).

I was called in 2001 and I spent a couple of days in Florence to do all the checks and all the visits.

Together with many others, I was found "Riformato" (ineligible) to do the military service, I took the train and I went back home.

That's it! I didn't swear in front of my flag. I didn't shoot or received and sort of training.

There was probably a document that certifies it, but either I've never had it or it got lost in the last 20 years.

There is, however, a document that says that I was in the list of the guys who could do the military service.

If you asked me: "Did you serve in the military?" I would answer a strict: "No!"

What should I answer in the DS-260?

If I answer yes, they want to know the Branch of Service, the Rank, the Military Specialty... All things that I can't reply to because they're completely irrelevant to me, simply because... I didn't serve in the military.

So, have I served in the military?

    Thanks
