Do it online. Google address change USCIS and your results will lead you to the page for that process.

The agent at the SSN office gave me the address to the federal building and said the issue would be easily resolved. However when I google the field office it says that location does not accept walk ins or scheduling appointments. I have been on the phone with USCIS and they said it could have been when they issued my I-94 so she gave me the number for the Border Control. I will have to wait til Monday to do anything now. Very frustrating

Congrats on the move! Generally: Arrive > Apply SSN in maiden name > Get married > Apply for AOS/EAD/AP > Change SSN to married name with EAD/GC

Be aware that it may take anywhere from 2-6 weeks to receive SSN after applying depending on your office. I received mine after exactly 4 weeks.

Congrats on visa! You might want to check the pinned threads at the top of the Canada main page. Lots of good resources for all things moving related. My fiance has RBC and they have the option to add a U.S. account so we are looking into and probably doing that. We haven't started it though, so no info on how much effort it actually is.

You don't have to close your Canadian bank account but that's totally up to you. If you plan to visit Canada often and spend money, it may be convenient to hold onto your account to avoid foreign transaction fees. Each bank and account types have their own rules and fees for transferring money, usually depending on how you plan to transfer (foreign cheque, ACH, etc). Some US banks won't let you open an account without a SSN so it is advisable to apply for one as soon as you enter.
Some Canadian banks like RBC, TD, and Scotiabank have US dollar accounts which may make transferring money to a US bank easier since it's in the same currency. There's also other options like Transferwise which make it easier to transfer CAD > USD or vice versa without having to open a Canadian US dollar account. Lots of options available!

So I crossed the border with my fiancée yesterday, and it was a breeze! Took only about 20 mins, and it was basically all just waiting. We crossed at the Detroit border and will be flying to Seattle in about two hours! ☺️ It was honestly the fastest/easiest part of the whole process, and all the border guards were super nice. We just handed them the packet, they went through it and put another small document in my passport to say when the K1 expires, and that was it! So great! It was a crazy nine-month process, and it all worked out so perfectly!

Hey everyone. Just finished my interview this morning and happy to say we are approved! It was fairly quick and everyone was very nice for the majority. The CO asked me maybe 4-5 simple questions and finally asked me if I have ever been arrested (which was no) and said the computers were slow and she would “take my word for it” and go ahead with giving me the approval slip ahaha kind of a strange way of ending it but I’m a pretty happy camper in the end:) I was shocked at how much they didn’t ask and how many documents I didn’t need. I was definitely over prepared but better that than under prepared I guess. Hoping my passport gets here quick so we can finally get married. I know we still have a lot more to do still with adjustment of status but I’m glad this part is nearing an end and we can finally be together. If anyone has any Montréal consular specific questions I’d be happy to do my best to give you answers from my experience. This has been a long and exhausting process and I’d love to give back a little especially since I couldn’t have done it without the people on this site. Good luck to anyone still waiting and all the best<3

Just about everyone goes through this process.  Based on the discussions I had with the case officer he informed me of the steps to complete the processing of your visa:

the first AP is the immigration unit doing the paperwork for approving the visa
the first ready is a notice that they are finished and the paperwork is being sent for visa issuance
the second AP is the visa issuance people doing their own paperwork
the second ready is that the visa has been issued and is currently being processed for delivery

Then "issue" is posted and the visa has left the BIG house to YOUR house.

Once you get that second ready, it should be sent out within a few days, although we received our visa before any of the various websites that allow you to look up the status said that it had been sent out.

Congrats on the interview!!! And yes this is normal, everyone hits AP. It will first say "immigrant administrative processing" then will switch to "non-immigrant administrive processing" - once you see non-im it's a good sign you will change to "issued" very soon.

We had our interview last week and were "application received" until Friday, where I first saw "non immigrant AP" which changed to issued sometime this past Monday.
