msham got a reaction from Nouchigang in AOS with expired passport
Just wanted to update anyone following this post...
Went for AOS interview this morning. Agent took expired passport and never asked or said a word about it being expired. We brought back up ID just in case, but it appears that they do understand that there may be certain instances when a renewal during this process could cause a delay.
Approved!

Yes, you can have a relative or friend pick it up for you. Just need a written authorization letter, the email sent out saying it needs to be presented as well (I believe it's posted in here), and I included my interview email.

Answer is in this thread. Only one person has received an email and a couple of us have used that email to pick up the passport in person.

It won't be available for pick up until after the Canada Post strike ends. They are not mailing any passports using any other service as far as we all know.

I had my interview on October 18th. My status changed to Issued-final processing on October 22nd. I called the number on the sheet I was given yesterday and was told to wait till the end of the week and phone back. No emails or anything yet.

I went through pretty much everyone's timelines for the interview dates to see when most on here received their visa for October 10th and 3rd interviews. The two October 10th timelines haven't updated that they've received yet, not sure if that's bad news or not, and two of the 3 October 3rd interviews updated that they received visa in 6 days (3rd timeline hasn't been updated).
Still haven't heard back from consulate after emailing, which is a little unusual for them because they have responded to every other email within 1 business day.

I emailed through both CEAC and the consulate directly. CEAC sent me a generic auto-reply
CEAC website shows passport has been issued and if haven't received in 5 business days to contact. I contacted ahead of that just to make sure it wouldn't be delayed by strike.
And even though the consulate normally responds within one day, they have not responded yet today.

msham got a reaction from BChance in Noa2 to Visa timeframe - K1
Did not have a Privacy Act certificate. Went with Border Crossing with picture/finger prints and a name check but the Border Crossing took just 4 weeks to arrive.

It's at consulate now.
Just as an update, we received police check with finger prints and picture today in the mail. Thank God. Flying out Monday for interview. I will update with whether or not it's the correct one after interview.

Yes K1. We leave Monday 15th. Bringing just one check and I know it's the wrong one since it's just name based.
Just hoping for a lucky draw and I guess we'll mail whatever they request via courier afterwards.

Ahh I'm sorry When do you leave for Montreal? I'm assuming you're applying for K1 as well?
Don't worry too much about it! Just bring the other police check with you and see what they say. Even if they do ask for it, you'll get approved as soon as you courier it to them!

Try not to worry! The same thing happened to me - the privacy act one arrived at my house in BC the day I had my interview in Montreal. I handed over my name-based certificate and no one said anything about it. Hope it goes well!
