Thank you so much. The lady that I spoke with encouraged us to wait at least 30 days to re-do the packet because if the other packet ever gets here, all we have to do is correct what is needed and send it back. If this is the case, we were told that we would not lose our "spot" or in other words it will keep the ball rolling.

I want to clear out something .I think you misunderstood the point. You just need  to get married within 90 days of your wife arriving here .It doesn't matter if you file ASO during that period of time or not. Also you got the receipt from UPS when you mailed it out that's a way you can track your package. Best luck !😊

Ok, so we are thinking we need it for the AOS package- you are saying we don’t?? Which would make sense because obviously we were approved, he moved, and we married within 90 days. I feel like everything I’m reading says we have to send in a copy of I797 approval notice with his AOS application; hence the freak out :(

Try to email and ask for the I-797 approval letter from his emabassy, they might have it .

Thank you! I appreciate it :) So as soon as the I-94 is available I can just go and apply for the SSN? Do you know when it is available?

Pretty soon.About 1week after you arrive in the USA. Make sure all the information is correct whenever you apply for any documents. My daughter got a wrong first name on her i94,so we went back to the airport more than twice to get it corrected .

    Hi everyone!

I know this has been asked a million times, but I still cant seem to understand - since many are saying different things. I just got my visa approved and received it this week. Yaay! I will be moving to Los Angeles in June, and was wondering if I can go straight away to apply for SSN, like the day after I arrive? Some people say that is ok, others say you have to wait two weeks. I just wanted to know if anyone had any experiences regarding this. Thank you all! :)

You'll need your valid i94,usually you can get it updated 1 week after you arrive in the USA. Not sure if you'll get married soon or not,if you'd change your name after the wedding ,then you need to wait till you've gotten the Marriage record .It's convenient to go on the website of your local social security office ,fill out the form, print it out ,bring it with your valid i94 , passport ,marriage certificate then it'll be done soon.Your social security number card will be mailed to you in 2 to 4 weeks.

    HI all

a few questions on the form please:

    1.  Question 2 about your Beneficiary

    • he has an "a" number on my NOA2 (form 797) that came in the mail.  Do i put that in there, or no?

    2.  Income and Asset section

    • starting off with my income is above and beyond the level that is needed.
    • value of other personal property.  Do they mean cars, boats, etc?
    • value of my stocks and bonds.  Do they mean my 401(k)?  should i even bother with a value because then i have to list it all out as part of the appendix

    3.  Proof

    • i work for a major organization, they provide proof of employment from a vendor, not on letterhead.  Is that official enough?
    • I have my bank statements
    • i am not self employed so appears i do not need tax forms (correct)?

    1.Yes.

2.If your annual income is higher than the poverty guideline, you don't need to attatch the other asset .We prepared the employment letter, life insurance, 401k,bank letter also included car as personal property but on the interview, they only asked for 1040 forms of  recent 3 years. If you want, just bring as much as you can get.

    3.1040 forms are necessary

Yup you need to provide any prior divorce decrees.

This is page 10 from the I485 instructions:

"6. Marriage Certificate and Other Proof of Relationship If you are filing Form I-485 as the derivative applicant spouse of the principal applicant, you generally must submit a photocopy of your marriage certificate issued by the appropriate civil authority where the marriage took place. Refugee derivative applicant spouses do not need to submit a photocopy of the marriage certificate. There are also some immigrant categories that require the principal applicant to submit a marriage certificate (for example, K-1 nonimmigrants (person admitted to the United States as a fiancé(e)), abused spouses and children under the Cuban Adjustment Act (CAA), Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act (HRIFA) dependents, and abused spouses and children under HRIFA). See the Additional Instructions for more category-specific information. If either party to this marriage was previously married, you must also submit evidence to prove the legal termination of any prior marriages, typically a divorce certificate or death certificate. If a required marriage certificate (or divorce certificate or death certificate) is unavailable or does not exist, you must demonstrate its unavailability/nonexistence and provide other acceptable evidence as explained above for birth certificates."

Yes. I think so! 😄Thank you so much!

If you applied but you never got it (yet) then yes, you should say no. You can always explain that you applied for your SSN on X date and that you are awaiting for it. Leave any question that asks for your SSN blank since you don't have it yet. Yes, attach a COPY of your medical report to the AOS package. NEVER give any original documents.

Thank you. But what if I have 3 medical exam reports  with stamps on them?

My concern is not that it's a copy. My concern is that it's not sealed but I think you get it. Just submit your DS3025 as the instructions state. That's all you need. You dont need to complicate it anymore than it has to be.

The official copy that was collected at your POE will be waiting for you at your interview. And if it's not, submitting an unsealed copy wont be accepted anyways (you'd have to redo your medical, get a signed and sealed I693). Your copy would not be valid as it is not sealed.

Hi. I asked someone who is from my country lives in LA.She's gotten the interview date in March. She mailed out the madical reports(has stamps on it same as the one the CBP got but unsealed)and DS3025 .She got the notification for the interview in 3 months.I wander why so fast.

Yes. I'll only attach DS3025. Then wait until I get the notification to do the medical exam

  11. 2 hours ago, K1visaHopeful said:

Okay look at it this way....you have a copy. How did you get it? Of course you got it legitimately but how can you prove that to them that you got it legitimately? Did you open your sealed packet somehow, copy it and reseal the packet somehow? Of course not, but how can you prove you didn't? Having a copy of it looks fishy. Why would you offer that info to USCIS if they can interpret how you got that copy however they want?

All I'm saying is it's not wise to hand them your copy because it's not sealed and has left their chain of command. It's just too risky in my opinion. It's unnecessary to hand a copy in as they already have the sealed copy so why put yourself in a situation where they may make assumptions. That's all I'm saying.

Thank you.😄But what I have isn't the copied ones. If it's a copy then your concern will be right. They're the same as the CBP got.Anyway, since it's not necessary to send the package with the medical exam report,I can just make it easy.

  12. 10 hours ago, K1visaHopeful said:

Okay that makes a bit more sense. I think you understood my concern though.

I still would only submit the DS3025 with your AOS package as submitting any other copies of anything that you should not have a copy of may raise issues. It may not but just to be safe. I'd pretend you doing even have a copy of the entire medical package.

Ok. I see. 😄It's simple to just mail out the DS3025.Thank you so much!

Are you saying you got your own copy of all the forms plus you ALSO gave CBP a sealed envelope? Or are you saying you opened the envelopes and gave them to CBP after you opened them? That's what it sounds like here:

I didn't open the big  one which was handed to the officer when I went for the interview. .I got a big sealed envelope from the hospital(4 sealed smaller envelopes in it that I found out after they opened the big envelope )They opened it then kept one smaller sealed envolope .So I got 3 rest of the smaller sealed envolopes.I opened them when they returned them to me.So I know what are inside the envolopes. The hospital can gave me 4 medical exam reports.

    10 minutes ago, K1visaHopeful said:

    Yes that's right....

But the bigger issue that you should be concerned about is if you opened your sealed K1 Visa packet before you handed it to the CBP officer at your POE....did you do that?

No. If so,I might not be allowed to come in the USA

  14. 20 minutes ago, Ate said:

Oh.  Well I guess that's a country-specific difference.  Unless you mean you already got your I-693 (Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record)?  If what you have is your I-693, then yes, that needs to be submitted when you file for AOS.

I don't have i693 since my medical exam reports are still valid. I think I just need to attatch the AOS documents with DS3025?

  15. 39 minutes ago, Ate said:

Um, how?  Did you open your packet that was supposed to be given to CBP when you entered the US?

No. It was taken by the officer on the interview. Then it came back with my visa(sealed ) I brought it and offered it at the customs. What I have was 3 sealed of envolopes but I opened them when I came back from the Visa interview

How would you have a copy of your DS392x series of overseas medical forms? The Panel Physician issues you one copy in a sealed envelope and you hand that off to your embassy at the interview and then the embassy seals the info in your K1 entry packet that you submit at your K1 POE.

Can you explain what you mean?

It's important that your overseas medical packet that USCIS now has, has not left the chain of command. If left in your hands  it would not be valid.....

The Panel Physician issues me one sealed envolop but it has 4 duplicates in it
