The longest wait for us was the Unabridged BC and Police Clearance... The next wait is scheduling the interview, they seem to get taken up quickly..
-
Good News!!! Received the email and text from the Consulate that DHL will deliver the Visa Wednesday before noon! Our interview was March 15th and were placed in Administrative Processing until we could provide the Police clearance. The consulate received the Clearance on April 5th, so basically 8 working days to receive visa after all paperwork was in. Flight booked for Thursday!!
-
I'm praying that this will be the week!!! I can't wait to book the flight!
-
They said we'd hear by email..
-
Nope... My fiance called the consulate and they said it wasn't ready to ship yet... ugh..
-
No, we were waiting on the police clearance and just turned it in to the consulate on the 5th.
-
Once the Visa is ready to ship, does the consulate send a text letting you know? Or does DHL send a text/email with tracking number?
-
-
Ahh, that was just a DHL to home payment, got it. Well, I hope whatever is slowing down the issuance of visas gets corrected so folks aren't waiting too long.
-
Is it possible the consulate is backed up from the holidays?? I hope it's that simple, and things start speeding up for everyone.
-
I've been reading a lot about delays in receiving visas, did everyone choose expedited shipping or are you picking them up at the consulate? Our interview is on 3/14, and am really hoping we have the visa in hand the following week.

Welcome!! I've been low key for a while, but we are finally ready for the consular interview!! If you don't have your unabridged Birth Certificate, get it going NOW, as well as the police clearance. Those items seem to be the ones that slow things down.

@Mozam,
Still waiting on the Unabridged Birth certificate so we are postponing the interview until Jan 2019.

Yes for the medical you need to have the interview confirmation the instrustion page they have you print out with all the details and your case number. The medical is fairly easy and they send you a list of required documents you need. I emailed them and they sent me a list of things.
The conusalte is extremely busy and there are lots of holidays coming up and that causes delay. There was one holiday this week Columbus day and the consulate is short on staff. So it depends some get their visa in 2days others wait 2 weeks.
I also paid for the upgrade and I'm still waiting for them to issue my visa so it really all depends on how busy the consulate work load is and how many visas they are printing and reviewing a well. And I scheduled a flight for this Sunday and now have to move it due to the delay.
Hope this helps. I wish you all the best .
Thanks for the info!! Hard to believe what started out as a simple friendship 2 years ago has progressed to this point! I thought this day would never come, but we're almost at the finish line!! I wish everyone on this journey the best of luck, and for those just starting out, be patient, it's worth it!

Ayeshacharles,
I have my fiance's interview scheduled for Nov 29th and was wondering how long after the interview does it take DHL to ship to her house? I paid the upgraded shipping, but want to make sure we can arrange her flight. She's in the US with me now and will be flying back for the medical and interview, but we'd like it to be a short trip home. Also, when scheduling the medical, do they require you interview appt confirmation?

Congrats Vintage Girl!!! Welcome to the USA!!!!! I've been blessed. My fiance has been with me for 5 months at the beginning of the year and again since September. I feel so bad for folks who have to go so long without their loved ones. God bless and best wishes in America!

Congrats and best wishes on your journey!

It's so nice to hear everyone is moving forward in the process!!! We're still waiting for the consulate to contact us, then it's medical and interview! So close now!
-
This is great news, thank you for sharing!! We received a letter from the NVC that our packet is being sent to the consulate, still waiting to hear from them. My fiance' is currently in the US with me and will need to fly back for the medical and interview. Is it possible to schedule the Dr exams close to the interview so as to minimize the time in SA?

If anyone has questions, just ask, I'm more than willing to share my story. Sorry if i got a little peeved, I was just hoping that she wouldn't have to go back to SA. This journey has been amazing, and the time it's taken isn't an issue at all, we understand what we got in to. To reiterate, I was just asking if she could interview here.
Thank you for all the replies.

Wow!! I expected more from folks on this site, didn't expect assumptions. All I asked was if she could interview here, that's it. For all the folks who are questioning her, we've been together for 2 years. This is her 4th trip to the US, I've been to SA twice. We've been very fortunate to travel and spend as much time together as we have. I was only seeing if it was possible to avoid traveling back and interviewing here... Sheesh...

We filed out K1 back in April when she was here for a Feb-August stay. She had to leave a month early and returned late August with a leave date of Feb 2019 (we told immigration that she was my fiance, he saw her B2 visa), so they knew why she was here. We never planned on submitting an AOS because we were waiting for the K1 to be approved. So if we get married now, would it look like visa abuse, or is the fact that a K1 is already in process proof that we're serious? How long is "authorized stay"? We're close to finishing this off (maybe a few months away), but I'd just like to avoid the trip back to SA and all the associated hassles.

Since our K1 is already in process (on it's way to NVC), getting married on her B2 and filing an AOS sounds kinda risky... Should probably just stay the course and have her fly home after interview is scheduled. I was just hoping there was a way for her to not go back to SA.
Thanks for all the insight and responses!
