  1. Here are the steps for US Embassy Islamabad from our personal experience and a few other VJ members from PAK.

    1. If you have the ISL number then you could fill out the DS-160 online.
    2. Once DS-160 is filled out and the CEAC website shows your file delivered at the embassy with status "READY" then create the profile on www.ustraveldocs.com and schedule an appointment.
    3. I recommend scheduling it more than 5/6 weeks ahead so you have enough time to get the medical done.
    4. There is a list of the apporved clinics on the embassy website where you could go for the medical.
    5. In 3/4 weeks you will also get an email from the Embassy to do the above steps. We didn't wait for the email and follow the above steps.

If you do K1 visa Islamabad search, you will find multiple posts with similar steps. Good Luck.

  2. The experienced VJ members are correct. US Embassy in Islamabad is one of the difficult embassy to get any type of visa.

Visit is just one of the factor among several other factors. Some of us were able to get the k-1 visa with just one visit and others didn't get it with multiple visits. Every case is unique and all depend on your own circumstances.

  3. I also made an error on the travel history date on N400 application. It was an error of 3 years. 😉

I did not even realize it until after 10 months of filling the application and my background check took almost 12 months.

I applied under 5-years rule and this was not even brought up during the interview. I think your friend's problem could be more than just a typo on the date.

    Hi VJs,

my K-1 AOS case is pending  from over 3 years , it was pending background check and now it has been sent to local field office, do you guys know what could be the next procedure and how long it might take  ?

You will receive an appointment letter for the interview. The timing depends upon the backlog of your local office.

You can try info pass appointment at the local office to see if they could tell you a better timeline then posted on the USCIS website.

    Hello everyone,

My fiance had his interview and his visa was denied at the embassy in Islamabad today. He said the consulate officer was very rude when asking questions. And at the end of the interview, the officer said he was lying because he had a previous petition with his ex, in which she withdrew the petition and my fiance divorced her. This happened 6 years ago. The officer returned all original documents and his passport at the interview. And said the case will be returned to the NVC.

Is there anything we can do before that happens? Or is the next step to just get married and file an I-130?

This is heartbreaking. Did the CO asked and looked at the evidence of ongoing relationship?

Not sure why would CO made a comment about lying regarding previous marriage/divorce if it was properly disclosed. Do you know if the previous marriage was also with someone with the different cultural and religious background?

USCIS... I talked to USCIS and they were the ones who told me that they mailed the package from California to NVC on November 1st. So they should have received it by now. I am just waiting for them to assign a case number to it. I just called NVC and they told me that they still have not received it. Also they told me that once they do receive it it can take up to 8 weeks for them to forward the package to the Embassy.

Did you speak with tier 1 or tier 2 person at USCIS?

Yes. K1 visa. Consular officer kept my passport and have me 221g. Nothing demanded.  They replied me once. When my online status changed to refused from ready. They said it's still in ap and we will consider it when  ap complete. But after 3 months they returned my case to NVCand I got my passport back.  We made 6 inquiry. They never replied. Except for the 1st one. On July 15.

Sorry to hear this.. Did they ask any out of ordinary questions during the interview?

My point is that I only got that email because I called them on Monday to ask a simple question unrelated to my case. They then sent me that email I shared and they only got my email because I used the link that Greenbaum shared. I’m just sharing the fact that it does work. If you call them and ask questions, then you will get an email like the one I shared..

I have called them about my case as well. :)

When I received email of NOA2 approval, I followed advice here to go to NVC site and input email address. On Monday this week, I called NVC to ask a simple question about whether need hard copy of NVC letter for embassy interview or not (which I was informed did not need). So this morning I receive this email below 👇

I didn’t provide my email address when talk to the NVC on phone...I only gave them the WAC number....so surprised when I got this email this morning...at least it confirms that when I went to input my email address that they have it and will know when they receive my file 🙂

I also followed the instructions on tab 1 and submitted the email addresses. So far, I have not received any acknowledgment email. Not sure if this is normal but I will sit and wait.

I believe you went to Aga Khan for medical. Do they require a letter from embassy or NVC to do the medical?

Yeah makes sense. I see you almost have the same dates as ours. Our NOA2 is 17th so I'm hoping by the 1st week of November we'll have a case number to make an account on CEAC and proceed with the interview and medical appointment. Any chances of interview being in December?

If things go well then I would think the interview in November. 😃

Lets stay in touch with the progress updates.
