    Here’s the steps I took :

So after I received my NOA2 in the mail, I called NVC consistently to find out if they’ve received my case from USCIS. It took exactly 2 weeks of calling to receive the number from NVC. The day I received the number I called them in the morning and they stated they didn’t have it, then I called in the evening around 6pm and they had a case number for me. When you call them make sure you get both the case  id number and the invoice id number.

    Next,

After receiving my case and invoice ID numbers, I started making preparations with my fiancé to go do his medical exam and his police report.

Note : make sure to update your email address with NVC because they’ll contact you over email. I never received any letters from them via mail.

Find packet 4 online. Consulate won’t send it to you until after they receive your case. At the top where I posted all the links you’ll see a link that has the Packet 4 information I believe. In the packet, it’ll give you information on what you need for the interview, where to do the medical exam and police report and other important information you need for the interview.

Typically, you’ll receive this packet after the embassy receives your case from NVC

After I obtained my case number from NVC, it took another 2 weeks for it to leave NVC. Meaning it sat at NVC for a month before being sent to the embassy.

While the month was going and we were waiting for NVC to send it to the embassy, we did the medical exam, the police report and paid the visa fee and went ahead and scheduled an interview. Visa fee was $265, medical exam was approximately N100,000 (actually less than but I don’t remember the actual amount) and N7000 for the police can report.

Again, according to my calculations, I calculated it would take two days for the consulate to receive our case, 4 days to receive a packet. But I’d personally suggest emailing the consulate asking for packet 4. Again, if you receive Packet 4 prior to the embassy sending it you don’t really need to request for it again though they’ll still send it.

Medical exam in Nigeria takes 10 days to receive the result. So plan to have enough time to pick up your medical exam to have it ready for the interview. The police report I believe is same day. Just a few hours wait but you can get it the same day (fiancé verified if only took him about an hour) and the visa fee you’ll pay $265 at GTB bank and then use the number on your receipt to set up the interview.

Do not wait for NVC they’ll delay the entire process.

If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. I just wanted to send out this general message to everyone asking to let them know the steps I took.

Hi @Ijndchyke. Thanks for all this useful info.

I have a question for you just so im very clear on this : Did you fill out and submit the DS160 before or after scheduling your interview?

    Hello Everyone,

I am so excited. I received my case & invoice numbers today. However, I am clueless as to what the next step should be.

I am currently in Nigeria at the moment visiting my fiance. Is there something I should be doing while I am here.

We are both praying that my fiance gets an interview date before I return to the States.

What can I do at this point to get the ball rolling fast?

    Pls help...🙏🙏🙏🙏

From what I have heard, they will send us the case number letter to the petitioners again too.

Thank you for the information. I'll try calling too! hehe

I read just above from little_vixen that petitioner will receive email from NVC that case has been sent to the embassy so maybe thats what it is?

Yes! Try calling, ive seen others with your NOA2 get their case # even last week! Good luck!

Wow! That's fast. Congratulations!! One step closer. :D

Did you get your case number by calling NVC or get the hard copy already? ^^

Yes it was actually pretty fast! Im surprised myself! Thanks a lot! 😁

I called them a couple of hours ago and got the case # but no hard copy. I wasnt aware we would be receiving a hard copy as well though

Hello guys! This has nothing to do with the Visa, just wanted to tell you that my dad is really sick at the moment, and my mom has been with Alzheimer's for a year and a half, so my situation is not good. I know I'm always positive, I always try to be, but it gets hard. I want to ask if you can pray for my parents, even if you're not religious, just a little thought to give me courage to go through this. I will appreciate it very much!

    Thank you :(

Stay strong for them...you are all in my prayers. God bless you!

Thanks for the info! I'm going to wait it out until Monday, hoping the NOA2 is in the mail and I get it either today or tomorrow :) We shall see! I'll give them a call Monday as you suggested if it doesn't arrive by then.

You are welcome. Yea its probably in the mail already, we are expecting ours in the mail at most on Monday as well. Lets see how it goes on Monday. Keep me posted! 😀

Hi! Did you ever receive confirmation from USCIS that they got your response? Or do you just know they got it based on the tracking/delivery service you used? USPS tracking confirmed USCIS got our response but I tried calling USCIS to make sure our case was taken off hold/the response was received and they said they couldn't give me any update unless 60 days had passed. Thanks!

Hi Luna. We never received any confirmation from USCIS that they got our response. We only knew they got it based on USPS tracking. We really werent expecting it since the RFE was "silent". If yours was silent, and USPS delivery says they got it, then dont worry about it. If uve waited for up to 10 days since it was delivered and the websites aren't updating, id say go ahead and keep calling to find out if you have been approved.

Since we have similar situation let me explain exactly how we got the information from USCIS:

My fiancee (petitioner) called to get an update on 7/11. They told him since it's past 7 months they will submit an inquiry to get an update on the case asap. He also asked then to get him to a 2nd level Officer and they said ok and put him through. The phone system made him wait for 100mins for a call back. They finally called back after about 120mins and the 2nd level officer told him the case was approved on 7/10...I guess there is no need to wait for the inquiry update as the 1st level agent didn't have access to the same information as the second level officer who called back.

If you havent done so already, you might want to try this.

    Cheers,

    Hannah

Thank you. I hope you're right. USCIS has been known to twist the facts a bit when asked though.

My fiancé and me are getting pretty down about this too. When he left in March it felt like it would be only a few months and then we'd be together. These last weeks have been very hard on us. I apologize for not being online as often as I used to be.

Hi guys, silent lurker since january here.  Its great to be here in the same boat with everyone. I really look forward to the light at the end of the tunnel for us all. @Little_Vixen i completely feel your pain. The last weeks have been tough on our end too, but we will all pull through ☺. You have been awesome here with helpful tips and kind words over the months and I felt compelled to encourage you Please keep your chin up! We will get there! ❤
