    hello, my fellow April filers!

I just received an update on my case, Case is ready to scheduled for an Interview. I filed my AOS last March 30st and received my NOA1 on April 9th. My case was in "Fingerprint Fee was Received" since April 9th before I received the notification today. It says my case was updated since July 16th but I received the notification this morning July 19th. No update on my EAD or AP. I sent out a case inquiry online last week on this link https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/Intro.do and chose the case outside normal processing time for my AOS and EAD. I haven't received any email response from USCIS for my inquiry and I don't know if that was the reason for an update on my case though. Hope this helps others too.

    Same as me!

I've seen many people got denied just because of some typo, or sending in the wrong fee payment, or missing signature...

In cases like these, do we have to pay for the second time filing the thing?

Hiring a lawyer to just fill out those forms costs no less than $2000. I just don't feel like paying it. :(

All the USCIS forms are designed to be filled for a normal person like you and me. Plus: they came with a long Instruction part that you HAVE to read in order to avoid making mistakes.

Hi, does any one have an instructional video or a simple guide on how to compile all the stuff for filing. I filled out all my forms plus i have all my supporting documents now i just need to send it in.

I check a couple of videos on youtube and took some tips from one, some tips from other, and complement with the information that USCIS have in their website:

    https://www.uscis.gov/forms-filing-tips

Just make sure that you cover letter is very simple but complete at the same time. and help yourself with some tabs and clips.

    Good afternoon all!

I'm just curious how "updated" is the online case status?

I filed my packet on May 15 and USCIS received on May 16.

Received NOA receipt on Jun 9, biometric done on Jun 18.

Received SMS notice said they need evidence for my I-485.

Jun 25 received the courtesy letter mentioned they will need my I-693 at a later date.

the online status of my 130, 131, 765 is "Case Was Received"

and my 485 is "Request for Initial Evidence Was Mailed"

Just wanted to know if this status update is normal? cos i read some other people they got the status "Fingerprint was received" or "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview" or "Fingerprint Review Was Completed" something like that?

Its looks like we have kinda the same timeline, and the same situation, the only form that shows updates is my I-485 the other ones (the same as you submitted in the package) just show that they have receive the application. the good thing is my updates on the I-485 have been pretty on time, and I didn't have to wait too much to get notifications.

We received a RFE and sent the requested document in. I know they received it because a signature was obtained. For those who received a RFE, how long after submission did the USCIS acknowledge receipt of your document?  How many days did it take on average?

    Thanks in advance

I receive one RFE, send back the information/document they want, and after FEDEX confirm the delivery, 4 days later they update my case online saying that they have receive the document. I think that was pretty fast....

    AOS Interview - Feb 21

    Suggestions
    • Dress nice
    • Get there at least 30 minutes early and research parking and have change if necessary beforehand (I forgot to have coins available for the street parking meters and had to literally run about 2 blocks away to get coins from a business)
    • Cell phones allowed
    • We had two open tote bags of evidence which had no issues in security
    • If possible try to not wear/bring metal
    • Ok to be nervous
    • Ok to ask for clarification if needed

    Our experience
We stood to give the vow.
    Questions asked:
To the sponsor: Name? Where do you live? Where were you born and when?

To the spouse: Spouse: Full name? Where do you live? Where were you born and when? Parents names? Asked about last entry into the US, and then where did we go and for how long. Asked if he had ever been denied a visa in Brazil, and why. Asked when were we married. Then asked spouse all the questions about doing drugs, having been in jail. etc.

To both of us: Have you been married before? Do you have any kids? Then asked if we had any bills or anything for evidence. We gave him documents for our joint health insurance, joint home and car insurance, cell phone bills, and job offer letter for spouse. Also gave them our wedding album and another album of our recent trips, and some photos of us with friends and family. He looked at and made some friendly comments/questions on both albums (Was the weather nice on your wedding day? Did you like this place that you went on vacation? Etc.). He also looked through the pictures but didn’t take any.

After confirming that he could take the documents we gave him, he said something like, “Everything looks good for you guys, you should get the green card in about a month, and you know that is only good for two years”. As we left I asked point blank, “We were approved then?” just to make sure I wasn’t dreaming, and he said yes.

We brought a lot of evidence, and didn’t need most of it. I think he could tell we were prepared because after I gave him a bunch of documents and asked if he wanted more he said, “No this is good”.

Also, we had two people in our room, it seemed like the second lady was a trainee probably. They both looked at all our information.

Appointment was for 8:45am, we were called in at 9:00am. The interview was pretty fast, probably got out around 9:10am.

    Documents we brought:
    • Our copy of K1 application
    • Our copy AOS application
    • Our copy EAD and AP application
    • Original of both birth certificates and marriage license

    Documents for supporting evidence:
    • Copies of joint medical and dental insurance (interviewer took)
    • Joint Home and car insurance (interviewer took)
    • Cell phone bill with both our names (interviewer took)
    • Current I-94 (interviewer took)
    • Spouse job offer letter (interviewer took)
    • Photo album of wedding and album showing from when we met to before we got married (interviewer reviewed)
    • Recent pictures of us together (interviewer reviewed)
    • Copies of plane tickets,
    • Passports for both of us
    • Cards we sent to each other
    • Cards received at our wedding

    congratulations!

I was wondering if with my notices of action (I-797 C) I have already 5 of those ones. I can go an get/renew my driver licence? I do have all the documents to prove that had done Biometrics, and also my married certificate to prove name change, and proof of residence as the lease apartment with my name on it.

    Hi April Filers!

Is there anyone here also filing from Houston? I've been reading reviews that they're taking forever to process AOS :(

last may 21 my status changed to "case ready to be schedule for interview"

Any idea what is the current processing time? I heard USCIS site is not accurate?

Thank you in advance! Hope we all get it soon :)

Hello! I just got a Request for initial evidence. I fill on April 24, biometrics may 24 and since then I didn't receive any other updates, since last night i had a update on my case (text message notification) online this is the information:

On June 22, 2018, we mailed a request for initial evidence for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Receipt Number ABCxxxxxxxxxxxx. The request for evidence explains what we need from you. We will not take action on your case until we receive the evidence or the deadline to submit it expires. Please follow the instructions in the request for evidence. If you do not receive your request for evidence by July 22, 2018, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. It's hard to say because they're very back logged. You just sent the package in, so trying to predict how fast or how slow your case will take is wasted energy. A missing translated document is also not a big deal if your case is simple and you've never violated visas in the past and have no criminal history.

Interesting! thank you so much for your advise!
