I emailed them before about getting my packet 3 but received it the day after in the mail. After that I send the packet 3 back and emailed them that I was waiting for packet 4 to schedule. They said that they would schedule it for me and 2 days after they gave me the date (sept 18th) and told me to register and gave me the link. 

So I think it’s better if you email them!

We've been waiting for the VOG for over a month now. My fiancé has been calling every Friday and they simply say they're still working on it. Finally this Friday he told them our situation and they're going to expedite it, whatever that means. r1mario was this your experience? naomieliza have you been quoted any lengths of time? I can't believe it's taking this long.

That’s taking really long! They said 2-4 weeks to me. But if you haven’t done anything bad I think it should come fast. 

I can’t tell you how long it took for me yet cause I applied for it last week

The most important thing is to make sure there is ten days in between your medical and you interview, they need time to get the results back and get them to the consulate. I got delayed three weeks because I didn't book the medical until I had my appointment.

 

But I have nothing to complain now, I'm in the US with my wife (in the mean time) for two weeks already

Do you have your medcial scheduled yet? I’m stressing about that they say you need to bring a interview date letter haha. Do you think that a case number is enough or do they really need it

Right now there are no appointments and we're waiting for the embassy to open up more dates. We also still don't have the VOG (it's been a month now) - finally they're going to expedite it for us. 

My packet 3 (K1 pre appointment checklist) says: only when we receive the “appointment request” we will schedule your appointment. 

I haven’t got packet 4 yet. But send an email and they said they’ll schedule it for me and email me back, I think that’s weird.

I saw that other people with the same embassy as me have to schedule it themselves, so I don’t really get it.

My packet 3 letter from the embassy in Amsterdam says that they’ll schedule my appointment but I thought I have to do that myself and not them?

You can absolutely apply for your VOG before packet 3. We are STILL waiting for this, so I suggest doing it ASAP.

I thought you needed to show something for what you needed the VOG, but it’s great if I can get it now

4 - photocopy of your passport bio page

 

The checklist includes:

1- the appointment request page (you get this in packet 3)

2- the ds160 confirmation page with barcode

3- passport

4- birth certificate, original or certified copy

5- divorce/death certificate, if applicable

6- form I-134

7- police certificate (the VOG) from The Netherlands (get this NOW!)

8 - police certificate for all countries lived in for more than 6 months, if applicable (except US)

9- 2 copies of court or prison records, if applicable

10- military records, if applicable

11- 6 US-style passport photos (make sure the dimensions are correct)

12- proof of relationship evidence (whatever you used for the original petition, plus proof of ongoing relationship - evidence from the time you sent the petition until the interview)

 

The reason why the checklist page is confusing to me is that there are two columns next to each item which denote whether an original or copy is needed. It's unclearly worded. There is an easier way to say whether an original, a copy, or both is required....but god forbid simplicity and clarity be a part of this visa process! haha

 

Also, it says nothing about the medical because that information you will receive in Packet 4. However, you can go ahead with that now, as far as I know. (We did, and others have as well.)  https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Medical/AMS - Amsterdam.pdf ---> Here's the info on that.

Ahh thank you so much for this! I’ve been looking everywhere to find it. It’s all soooo confusing.

Can you get the VOG without having packet 3? Or do you need to wait to get it. 

Does anyone know what is in packet 3/ what you have to send back from the consulate in Amsterdam? I want to have everything ready to send it back as soon as possible but I can’t find it anywhere.
