  1. Thank you everyone for responses. My I-134 got approved on Tuesday evening, it took only a week, even with Thanksgiving, very impressed.

I have question about the new rule effective in November 21 - that all U4U are now eligible to work legally as soon as they arrive.

Does this mean that when they arrive, they can go right away to Social Security Administration and apply for SSN with passport & I-94 form?

  2. I-34 was approved, and travel authorization issued. I (sponsor) live in New York City, however my beneficiary wants to fly to Florida to stay with a very generous friend there, who has more space, since I already have another Ukrainian family staying with me. My question is - is it okay for her to travel directly from Europe to Florida even though her sponsor’s address is in New York? Is there going to be an issue at the airport?

My beneficiaries currently have health insurance through our state marketplace. State marketplace. They also had an interview today for temporary assistance as well as snap benefits.  I am not an attorney though. But my understanding was there was a new law that passed that says they're eligible. Even though we are sponsoring them. The application asked if there was a sponsor and we said yes.

Hello there, could you please share more how did you apply for SNAP and temporary benefits, what documents were needed to submit? Thank you

  4. Hello everyone.
thank you for all the information here. It was very helpful.
we submitted the online application on May 19th, got travel authorization on May 21st, and picked up beneficiaries from the airport on May 26th. Very fast!

I just want to share more about what happens after they arrive.

    1. TB blood exam within 2 weeks of arrival to USA. I found an USCIS approved civil surgeon that did this for cheap, we paid cash. Since they don’t have medical insurance yet.

    2. Medical insurance. After calling many numbers, I found Russian speaking medical insurance agent that is now working to get them free medical insurance,

but I will confirm once we actually receive it, fingers crossed.

    3. Work permit. Fill out I-765. It’s not possible to do that online, you have to send it, together with $410 fee

    4. Benefits. Like SNAP … etc. We haven’t applied for those yet, I will share once we do.

Our beneficiaries got here tonight. Picked them up at O'Hare , just got them settled in for the night. Their flight landed at 8pm but they didn't get out of CBP clearance until nearly 3 hours later. Apparently there were a lot of other U4U folks on the same flight from Warsaw, and they were processing all of them in a group. Asked a bunch of questions, took photos, not quite sure what else took 3 hours. Anyway, the ordeal is over and they're now officially and legally in the US. Tomorrow we can start the million +1 things needed to integrate them successfully.

Wow, congratulations and wishing your beneficiaries all the best. I just submitted forms for my beneficiaries yesterday.

  6. Hey guys!!

i finally had my interview in NYC last week.

it was a long wait before the interview.

i got there at around 940am and waited until 11:45am to be called. I passed all the US history etc questions and English test too. After that, she asked few questions and then I received a letter that I’m a little confused about.

It said “passed the English test etc”

but it also said “decision can not be made yet”

I asked her if she needs more paperwork or anything, and she said no, everything is fine so I’m not really sure why. Has anyone experienced this??

Hi y'all.  Congrats to everyone who got through the interviews!  We filed in New York City and haven't heard anything since the biometrics in April.  I haven't had a chance to read through this whole thread, but was wondering if any New York City field office applicants have gotten their interviews?

Same! Filed in NYC in March, biometrics beg of April and haven’t heard anything since ....

Hi my mother-in-law is from Brooklyn New York and it took her one year to get a interview date for her N400 and she did her interview and now waiting for a oat ceremony for almost 3 months now I really don't know what's going on with New York maybe it's moving slow

    thank you for your response.

    wow that’s a long wait.

I guess I just have to be patient.

    Congrats to your mother-in-law.

hi everyone, I just joined the group from NYC and I'm a March filer. Not sure how to add myself in the list but here are my dates:

    Application submitted: March 14

    NOA: March 14

    Biometrics scheduled: March 17

    Fingerprinting: April 4

Current completion time is 9 months and estimated wait time seems to be 8 months. Does it really take that long put someone in line for interview?  What's so interesting is that I had been waiting for my I-751 to get approved for a year now, and as soon as I applied to N400, it got approved after a week. I wonder if it has to do with me starting my naturalization process...

From my understanding NYC filers tend to wait longer than usual since it's a busier area, but crossing my fingers that everything goes smoothly. Wishing the best of luck to everyone!

    Hey there!

    Im also in NYC

    I applied on March 15, 2018

Finger prints scheduled March 17, 2018

    Finger prints April 2, 2018

My finger prints were in Brooklyn.

    I applied online.

My current estimated competition time is 11 months, waiting time says 10 months.

I'm not sure how accurate these times are. My friend applied last year. Her fingerprints were in April 2017, and interview in October 2017, so that was a long wait. But I have seen other people in this forum that got their interviews scheduled 2 months after the fingerprints.

Anyway, good luck to you! Hope we don't wait too long!
