Received my 18 Months Extension Letter yesterday 8/16/2018 dated 8/13/2016
-
I'm pretty sure we will receive an updated i-797, they say they will issue "NEW" forms to those whose case were pending as June 11 which means that all those from June 11 will receive the updated i-797 and those before June 11 will receive a "NEW i-797" which means they already had one.
-
Great News From USCIS, they will start sending new updated i-797 forms extending our green cards for 18 months instead of 12, I guess that will save us the trip to get a stamp after 1 year with our cases pending.

From USCIS, it looks that we will be receiving updated i-797 forms extending our green cards for 18 months after expiration instead of the traditional 12 months.
https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/USDHSCIS/bulletins/1f6ccfb?reqfrom=share
As of June 11, 2018, petitioners who file Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, or Form I-829, Petition by Entrepreneur to Remove Conditions on Permanent Resident Status, will receive a Form I-797 receipt notice that can be presented with their Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card, as evidence of continued status for 18 months past the expiration date on their Permanent Resident Card.
We are making the change from 12 to 18 months because current processing times for Form I-751 and Form I-829 have increased over the past year.
Additionally, we will issue new Form I-797 receipt notices to eligible conditional permanent residents whose Form I-751 or I-829 was still pending as of June 11, 2018. Those Form I-797 receipt notices will also serve as evidence of continued status for 18 months past the expiration date on petitioner’s Permanent Resident Card.
As a reminder, conditional permanent residents who plan to be outside of the United States for a year or more should apply for a reentry permit by filing Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, before leaving the country. Read more information on our Green Card webpage.

Thank you. I'm totally clear on the visa limitations and conditions. I merely wanted to know if she could fly domoetically using her native country passportl Thanks again.
All the corrections and clarifications are not a personal attack, this forum is a place to learn and any misleading information have to be corrected over and over so others don't get confused.
Now you are clear that she doesn't have a visa anymore despite if she goes back home now, she violated the conditions (all of them) the minute that her authorized stay expired.
She is free to travel domestically by air but the risk is always there, with this new administration there's risk even walking on the street.

has anyone received their NOA1s?
No, not even our checks has been cashed yet.

Here are my answers to the best of my knowledge:
1-No, the extension is just proof of your status, not the status. You continue to be a permanent unless USCIS denied your petition and an immigration judge decides to take it away.
2-No, actually it is illegal to check the status of existing employees unless the employer has a contract with the federal government.
3-See #2, they are no allow to check immigration status/papers at their desire.
4-No, USCIS have all the information related to your pending case as they are the ones processing it.
5-No, that's why you need to do your diligence to get your stamp, as explained before, you are a permanent resident and USCIS knows it, we are the ones who need some type of proof for everyday things and travel.

My GC expires 6/02. Mailed 5/1, received 5/2.
I have two international trips for work. First one is 05/27-05/29 and another one 6/05-6/12.
I am concerned about arriving to the US very close to expiration date without NOA (first trip), and arriving with expired GC with NOA (hoping it will arrive on time) but without I-551 passport stamp or biometrics appointment (second trip).
I strongly recommend NOT to travel without either the NOA or i-551 stamp.... heck I wouldn't even travel with my green card expiring so close to my returning date , remember that life is full of unexpected things, any delay in your trip and you would have a really hard time getting back into the US.
If there is no other choice I would make an Infopass and explain my situation to see if they can give you a i-551 stamp even if it is a short term one, the worst that can happen is they say no.

11 minutes ago, jackiewackie said:THANK YOU for this!! Hopefully. I am wondering about the situation regarding the Formerly issued green card errors. Does that take precedence over the I-751? Or would they do it simultaneously..etc..?
I think the replacement cards for those with the error will be handled by NBC center as there is where green cards are produced, so my guess is (and really hope this is the case) that service centers (California & Vermont) will not be involved in this process.

I saw a video where Jim Hacking (Youtuber immigration lawyer) was explaining how the new approach for asylum cases was to make a decision asap so they don't stay in the country any longer if they don't qualify so basically he was explaining that they were adjudicating those asylum cases really fast in the last few months. I don't know if that makes sense but wouldn't be surprised if they take that direction with other types of applications like AOS etc, from their point our view it would probably reduce the "free time" in America an applicant can get while processing the application even if he/she doesn't qualify for the benefit requested.
I'm not saying this is your case but in my opinion it would be a good approach for people with straight cases, probably you are in this category and you will be set in a few weeks.
Congrats on the fast processing and good luck in your journey!

NOA1 arrived yesterday! Now two questions:
1. Should he travel with it everywhere he goes? I've scanned a copy to our emails and made 3 extra hardcopies, but it's the original he should have on his person?
2. Can we take the restricted SS card and the letter and try to have the "With DHS Authorization" removed? We never did that while the conditional green card was valid. Bummer.
Thanks!
Congrats mondix, when did you file yours and which center?

Good Morning VJ Friends,
I am in needs of little advice, suggestion from you all, and My Green Card Expire date on – 8/24/2018 and per the USCIS Date calculator my Earliest Accepted Filing Date: 05/26/2018.
My spouse has a surgery date on the same time ( we just find out today form doctor) and then she will have a bed rest for week or so and couple of post op appointment - little drowning
with her surgery prep and my stuff.
Please any advice or suggestion how late I can file my ROC - May 29 or June 1 2018 would that be too late.
You will be ok, you have to file within 90 days starting 05/26/2018. That being said and due to the huge delays with USCIS I would recommend you to send it as soon as possible after May 26
Good luck with your case.

From USCIS Website
USCIS to Recall Incorrectly Dated Green CardsOn May 14, 2018, USCIS will begin recalling approximately 8,543 Permanent Resident Cards (also known as Green Cards) due to a production error. The Green Cards were for approved Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions of Residence for spouses of U.S. citizens. The cards were printed with an incorrect “Resident Since” date and mailed between February and April 2018.
USCIS will send notices to individuals who received the incorrect Green Cards and to their attorneys of record, if they have one. The affected individuals should return their incorrect Green Card to USCIS in the provided pre-paid envelope within 20 days of receiving the notice. They may also return their cards to USCIS field offices. USCIS will send replacement Green Cards within 15 days of receiving the incorrect card.
The recall does not affect these Green Card holders’ status as lawful permanent residents. If affected individuals need to travel internationally or prove their lawful permanent residence while they wait for a replacement card, they may contact the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283 to determine if they need additional proof.
Spouses of U.S. citizens may apply for naturalization after three years of permanent residency and must meet other requirements. The incorrect date on these cards could lead applicants to wait longer than necessary to apply to become U.S. citizens.

I was in the same situation but my GC expires next month, went to the SS office this week and no problem at all to get an unrestricted card.
Didn't think about it until now so give it a try, the worst that can happen is they say no which would leave you the same as now.
Good Look and report back.

I just got notification that new card is being produced. Im lost.
You were lost before...Now you just found yourself!! LOL
Congratulations!!!!!
USCIS Officers are humans too and you were lucky to get a nice one, sometimes they are looking for something more than answers to simple questions, as said by a former officer in a past thread here "Sometimes you just know"
Congrats again!

Added me to the spreadsheet, hope other will follow.
My package was delivered 5/4/18 and the waiting is killing me already, my GC expires 06/28 so not being sure where I am in the process makes me crazy.

I can't help but thinking VJ forum should have a category where members could post potentially embarrassing pictures of them as a couple and we all would vote yay or nay for their potential use as evidence.
Imagine the fun moderating that!
I strongly agree!!

Just a quick question
:
How many months of bank statement should i submit as a proof of financial evidence that me and my wife sharing the same checking account - should i submit for all three years - 2016, 2017, 2018 ( Up till now )
How many months of Utility bill -should i submit for all three years - 2016, 2017, 2018 ( Up till now )
Many here recommend one statement for each quarter and that's what I did, one for each month would result in 500-600 pages easy, taking space for other strong evidence.
You want to submit a variety of strong evidence without making the package ridiculously big....quality over quantity.

I would not get my hopes to high on that as they still have not even touched the ones from april... we all are still waiting even for our checks to be cashed... They recieved mine on april 6th, and nothing happend until today.
Yes, I know how California has been lately but at this point there is no other choice but to have hopes and be positive. Either a NOA1 or seeing my check cashed would make me happy.

Mine was delivered today
Now the waiting begins, praying they cash my check and send me NOA1 asap.

You asked for advice/opinions, as previously said that is direct and on point.....This is a public forum so everybody is entitled to giver their opinion.
The Visa application is a process and hers will be the same as yours and everybody else.
Maybe you are looking for the "Everything will be fine and she will be approved, wonderful things will happen" type of comment.
Concentrate on giving her confidence about the interview.
