  1. I have a plan.

if someone lives near a district service center, maybe you can drive up there on a sunday night and check to see if the lights are on in the offices.

ok, i am kidding here, so don't be sending me hate messages. lol

seriously now, i think what others suggested is true that they might have touched the files before the weekend but the system updates at a later date which would make sense.

  2. First of all I'm a wee bit baffled as to why you made this thread in addition to pm'ing me. I posted that question not to ask if my husband is doing something wrong/right and not because it wasn't discussed beforehand. It was but it slipped my mind....how he celebrates Valentines day wasn't exactly a dealbreaker...sowwwy.

The purpose of the question was to see how other Muslims act on that day. It's a little hard when everyone around you is celebrating something and you are not. Kind of like a kid at a birthday party who isn't allowed to celebrate or eat the cake. I posted something similar around Christmas and got some wonderful feedback.

If you don't like a thread, here's a tip...don't open it up!

don't you need to read a thread and therefore open it before you decide whether you like it or not??

I did not read the post you guys are referring to above so I have no clue, i just thought this post here was funny

  3. I think next time you find somebody one of "them posts" you should make it clear to them how you feel about this. i just hope i come across it to see what you gonna post. i have a feeling they will be shocked. lol

  4. Alright guys, well last week I got touched on a saturday and i can see that this is possible because i know that some USCIS centers are open on saturdays since biometrics are done on saturdays.

Now today, i got touched on a sunday at 9:30pm ( at 7:30pm i had not been touched yet). how could that be, is USCIS really working on a sunday and in the evening??(i am kidding here).

I am a computer science major and i have been trying to think this through and see what's going on and here is what i came up with:

1-they really are working on sunday this late

2-they have an automated system that they submit their entries to and this system updates the entries on the website.

does anyone has any knowledge to share???

    thanks

  5. Sorry - another stupid question. Which number on my K1 visa is the Visa number? There is a control number in the top right, which is 14 digits long, and starts with 2006, and then there is a number in red in the bottom right of the visa which is 8 digits long, with no label for it.

I can't understand if their forms ask for the nonimmigrant visa number, why they would not then use the same term on the actual visa  - it would seem to make sense to me. Oh well...

    Thanks again.

    Sami,

I can answer your second question with certainty; the visa number is the number in Red on your visa.

as for the first question, i am not sure, in my case i did not have an A# because i was here on a student visa. But basically if you have ever filed any paperwork with U.S. immigration, you could have found ur A# on whatever papers they had given you.

someone else can answer this question for you with correct information.

    good luck with all

  6. Ok, so we have been married since September and are FINALLY sending the AOS in next week. But I am confused about a couple of things:

I was told that she can't get a SSN card until she has her EAD, is this true? Or can we go in now and get one?

When are we able to official change her last name?

    Thanks guys!

it depends, some people have just taken their passports and marriage certificate to the social security office and where able to get one, and other where required to have the EAD before they would given one. i guess it really varied from one office to another.

as for changing her last name, this can be done when u are applying for a SSN, they would need to see the marriage certificate for that.

    good luck

  7. hello all,

just wanted to make things clear about processing date. currently on the website it says

for I-130 -- july 17, 2006. I filed mine on january'2007 and received my NOA1 on january 27th. looking at the processing date, does that mean that it is going to take

atleast 6 (july'06 until january'07) months before they start considerig my application for approval..? any comments will do great! thanks...

that does not have to be the case. for example, let's say they are processing applications filed in july 17th, and not a lot of people filed that month or USCIS was surprisingly fast in going through those applications so they could immediately move to the filings of august without having to really be a whole month of processing. on the other had, if there were tons of applications filed in july or USCIS is going very slow, it could take them more than a month to go through the applications filed in july 17th.

ideally you would assume that in your case you would have to wait 6 month for them to get to your file but it could be sooner or could be later but by looking at trends, they move one month a time so ur wait is gonna be 6 month.

  8. Ole had a car accident. In court, the trucking company's lawyer was questioning Ole .

"Didn't you say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine,'?" asked the lawyer.

Ole responded, "Vell, I'll tell you vat happened. I had just loaded my favorite mule, Bessie, into the..."

"I didn't ask for any details", the lawyer interrupted. "Just answer the question. Did you not say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine!'?"

Ole said, "Vell, I had just got Bessie into the trailer and I was driving down the road...."

The lawyer interrupted again and said, "Judge, I am trying to establish the fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the Highway Patrolman

on the scene that he was just fine. Now several weeks after the accident he

is trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer the question."

By this time, the Judge was fairly interested in Ole 's answer and said to the lawyer, "I'd like to hear what he has to say about his favorite mule, Bessie".

Ole thanked the Judge and proceeded. "Vell as I vas saying, I had just loaded Bessie, my favorite mule, into the trailer and vas driving her down the highway ven this huge semi-truck and trailer ran the stop sign and

smacked my truck right in the side. I vas thrown into one ditch and Bessie

vas thrown into the other. I vas

hurting, real bad and didn't vant to move. However, I could hear Bessie moaning and groaning. I knew she was in terrible shape just by her groans.

Shortly after the accident a Highway Patrolman came on the scene. He could hear Bessie moaning and groaning so he went over to her. After he looked at her, and saw her fatal condition, he took out his gun and shot her between the eyes. Then the Patrolman came across the road, gun still in hand, looked at me and said, "How are you feeling?"

"Now vat the HELL vould you say?

I love it, it is soo funny.

  9. Am I understanding things right here...... as soon as one gets their EAD approved you can legally start working?? Is the biometrics appointment for the EAD or AOS or do you have one biometrics appointment for each thing? I will be in Oklahoma so I guess I will be going through DORA and making an INFOPASS appointment.... do I just take everything to this appointment, my AOS, EAD and AP? Thanks.

    Susan

Biometrics is for both EAD and AOS.
