FNMA doesn't set the rates. The bankers do. A lot has to do with economics and a lot with marketing.
Loans to foreign nationals is a niche' market. Lenders who cater to people needing these loans get away with charging a higher rate because it's perceived no one else can make the loan.
My banker informed me we would be paying the same rate as anybody else.
in that case would it have mattered if the loan was under both your names or just under your husband's name?

this is really interesting and thank you very much for sharing this information with us. I truly appreciate it.
i wonder though if even there are no provisions in FNMA against lending to aliens without a greencard whether that would make them not charge such high interest rates. i mean after all it is still their decision and they can charge as high rates as they want and you can accept it or decline it.

Yes, I think it's always the 17th that they update, once a month. But they processing dates definitely don't move up a month each time. Sometimes the processing date only moves up by a couple days, sometimes it stays the same, I've even seen them go back.
that's what i thought.
So when does an application get transfered from MSC to the District office. in my case, my DO is in Pittsburgh and both Pittsburgh office and MSC have the same processing times for everything. for example my applicatin was received by MSC in late december, so is it when MSC's timeline says processing December when my application gets transfered to pittsburgh? and then there would be a wait for the pittsburgh processing as well??
thanks

Guys,
I just noticed today that the current processing times on USCIS's website indicated that this processing times are as of January 17th, and if i remember correctly, the last processing time was December 17th. so can i assume that USCIS updates their processing times every 17th of the month??
in addition, does anyone know whether the files they are processed are moving one months at a time ?? for example, MSC is saying that as of January 17th, they are processing EAD received October 30th, now when they update the processing times in February 17th, should we expect the new update to say that they are processing EAD filed in November 30th (or around that) or not??? has anybody been keeping an eye on these and know if there is a trend?
even though in my question i gave the example of EAD and MSC but i was just curious about the general processing of any application at any USCIS office.
thanks you guys

ok,
I apologize and please excuse me for being rude to you

"Actually, those were not my posts, they were my husbands, and what possessed you to go back through my posts to check my personal timelines of asking questions? It has everything to do with being patient, and I'm certainly not wishing you ill and hoping your touches mean nothing, I hope they are a good thing, but the bottom line (as you can see from every other one of the hundreds of posts of people asking about their touches and what people have replied) is just waiting. I didn't say you can't ask questions, that's not upto me, but I gave you my advice from personal experience of being patient and explained again, like it has been explained so many times before, about what touches mean."
The reason I went back and checked your previous posts is because I wanted to see if you actually follow what you were preaching me, which is patience. So you say it was your husband who posted those and i take it he does not have to be patient but all the rest of us do?? your husband posted his questions because the wait concerned him, the same way i posted mine becaause i was concerned.
thank you for your advice though and I will be try to be "patient".

BE PATIENT! Seriously, there are people who have been waiting for their AOS for years on this board and you've only been waiting a month. I'm not trying to sound rude but it wasn't that long ago that this process took at least a year or two and that is what was expected, now everyone expects their green card in a couple months. Touches just mean your case was handled, you won't know if this means someone just opened it up to look at a piece of paper or if they are actively processing it until you either do or don't get your interview letter/notice of transfer to somewhere else.
it's really not about being patient or having to wait. it really was a sincere question on trying to figure out if people have seen any trend with many consecutive touches. Asking a question about this would not make me more anxious or impatient, it just clarifies some things for me. in addition, i do realize that in the past it used to take a year and more for applications to be processed, but i also realize that nowadays it does not.
looking at some of your previous posts, I could see instance where you have not been "patient" either, for example when you were waiting on the social security card (2), or when you sent your packet to the london embassy(2).
So as you can see, this is really not a matter of being patient or not, but a matter of clarifying things that you wonder about.
1- "Well, its been over four weeks now and ive heard nothing."
2- "I sent my packet 3 to London Embassy on 2nd Feb, that was 4 weeks ago. They still havent inputted it onto their system. People who sent theirs back later than me have recieved interview dates! whats going on??")

does anyone else have any knowledge or experience in this???
thanks

As you guys can see from my timeline, i have been touched 6 times since i sent in my application for AOS late december, and this does not include the touch when they received my RFE, so i guess it would be a total of 7 touches.
do you guys think this could be something good and that maybe and i pray to God maybe they are getting ready to send me an interview notice?? even though i only filed in december.
or could it just be that my file was transfered from one desk to another.
does any of you guys have any experience with getting touched a lot and soon after received a letter for the interview???
i guess i am being hopeful here and trying to give myself more encouragement.
We didn't receive any touches on our AOS before or after getting our interview notice. But we did before getting the EAD approved. Best wishes!
thank you. i guess one can take so many touches before start wondering if this is going somewhere.
it feels like i am talking about some real person that i am having a relationship with and she keeps on touching me but nothing progresses.

After our case was touched a few times we received our interview letter...hopefully it will be good news for you
i sure hope so. the only thing with you guys is that your application was at CSC which is known to handle stuff alot faster than other places.

congrats and best of luck with eveything

Priase the Lord! I thought it will take more than a week to received my EAD card but I got it today. Was approved online last Jan. 26, 2007 and received the card today....Jan 29.
My question is do I have to wait a week or can I go to SSN office now to get my SSN card or number? I have a job offer waiting and the company needs my SS number first. For background purposes... Anyone have been through this process of getting SS number/card after receiving EAD card, please advice.
Thanks and good luck to those who are still waiting for their EAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
congrats,
you should be able to go and get an SSN whenever u want now, no need to wait
-
haha me too - told you we had the same timeline! I cannot believe that I quit my job for two days without authorization (temp ead expired on weds)...
congrats to you too in that case
-
congrats and good luck on the interview.
as for you taxes, you can file your taxes as married filing separate and this way you would not have to wait on his SSN

Just wanted to share our good news.... Keith had his interview in Johannesburg this morning and all went well! Visa was approved and he'll be on his way to the US in the next week or two!!
Emily
congrats you guys. i hope he has a safe trip.

I know it's probably still very early but I'm just very anxious and curious...
i filed end of december and still nothing. you're in luck though because you already have your interview scheduled. you only have a little over a month for your interview, and then you can work regardless of EAD, so since you waited this long i don't think it would be too much to wait 1 more month for the real thing do you??
good luck and hope it comes soon

I'm sorry I don't have a timeline. I am going to create one soon. We filed for AOS in May 2006, and our Interview was 17th, August 2006. The DHS office was very conveniently located on the southside of Pittsburgh. The interviewer was very polite and friendly, and the interview was pleasant experience, and less than 30 minutes, very different from the embassy interview. He asked my wife a list of questions that I guess they have to ask everyone. Then we showed him some wedding pictures and utility bills that sort of thing. After that he said my wife's green card would be sent in the post. We received it I think about two weeks later. I hope this helps
.
thank you very much.
does the interview take place at the same place as where the biometrics are done?? i had my biometrics in downtown on 800 Penn ave. which is in downtown, so i assume that's not where you guys had the interview?

Hello,
I'm not quite sure how much I should bring to the AOS interview for my wife whom has a K3 visa. Is it neccessary to take the I-130, I-129, or g325a? We will definately take the approval notices for all of those documents but I'm not sure if we should take the documents themselves.
Thanks,
Chris
Chris, i have not had my interview yet so i am not talking from experience here, but you might as well take these documents with you, especially if anything changed on them, for example, if there was a change in the last name, or change in the address, maybe you can reflect the changes in the new forms.
take whatever you think is related to the case and have them organized in a folder.

Hi,
We filed the AOS in Pittsburgh. Do you have a particular question?
not really, i just wanted to see how many people using this message board used the pittsburgh office.
actually since you asked. when did you file for AOS and how did the interview go??
thanks
processing time difference between NBC and DO

I know that application are at first handled by the National Benefit Center and then they get forwarded to the district office when an interview is scheduled. In my case, MSC is where my application is and pittsburgh is my DO, and since the application will not be transfered to pittsburgh untill i have an interview scheduled, why does pittsburgh (or any DO) need to have their own processing timeline on USCIS's website. I mean the wait is really with the MSC and not the DO right?? the timelines for MSC and pittsburgh are the same actually.
can anyone explain this to me please?
