  1. well guys today i had two good news, the first is I had my thesis defense today for my masters degree and after two hours of being grilled with different questions, I PASSED.

the second good news is that on my way back home today after my defense, i checked the mail ( i did not check it yesterday because i was busy studying for my theses defense) and i saw a letter from USCIS and it was my interview notice.

i have my AOS interview on May 10th in pittsburgh, and the timing for that couldn't be any better since neither me nor my wife would have to reschedule any of our final exam since those end in may 5th.

anyhow, my wife is in class now, so i have not been able to tell her yet about the second news and i do not want to tell our family untill i tell her about the AOS news, so i figured i would tell u guys so that i can celebrate with someone.

  2. My wife filed for AOS in October and Just yesterday she received the notice for the interview on May 16. This is about 10days more than 7 months! !

    Devereux

Be glad you were not filing during 2005 when it was taking 6 months + to get an interview and that was if you were lucky.... I waited 183 days and that was fast....

    Hope you hear soon

    Kez

maybe it is true that nowadays they do not schedule interviews until the FBI namecheck is complete. this is the only thing that would make sense for your case to take 7 month

  3. http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aoslis...Pittsburgh%20PA

If you filled your tinmeline in, it might help others like you as well.

I actually tried several times filling in my timeline but it would never letting me saying that i need to fill in some data for a "visa data section" and it would not let me submit my entires for the EAD or AOS without entering that information. and i do not want to make up any data so that i do not mess up the statistics.

as for the link you have provided, i have looked at it numerous times, and as you can see, there are recent timelines on only 5 people and 4 of them were transfered to CSC so that does not help me

thank you for your help though

You got that right. I'm amazed at how fast people seem to be getting their interviews nowadays. We also filed in 2005 (January) and it was one month short of two YEARS before my wife had the greencard in hand.

    :)

My husband and I filed in January 2005, as well. If not for a bizarre mail screw-up last year, we might have been finished in May 2006...alas, that was not to be. We finally have our new interview date, 4/12, almost 1 year after we missed the one on 5/1/06 due to not receiving the mail at the correct address - which then prompted a denial for our case.

If all goes well, we'll be at 26 months.

that's kinda scary. i mean i have heard that when interview letters are sent out, usually no touches appear online, so how would one know if the interview letter was sent out and there was a mixup in the mail???

btw, i still have not received my interview letter yet, even though people that filed after me with offices that have similar processing times as mine already received theirs and some already had their interview.

but in all honestly, it makes it a lot easier on me that i received my EAD or else i would have gone crazy

  5. We submitted the AOS in the beginning of Aug., 2006. We promptly did the biometrics and received the EAD. (we also did receive a NOA1) .

HOWEVEr since then we have received not a word from immigration. We have been expecting to get an interview date for some time, but still nothing. Should we begin to worry (do INFO pass) or just hang tight for a few more months. Its been about 8 months since we submitted AOS and no word on even an interview date. is this normal. Our local office will probably be in the Maryland (DC metro area)

    thanks for your response!

    best, R.

i am sorry to hear that. it must really suck

  6. Is it sad that I wrote my own program in python to keep track of all the number of days since NOA1, EAD, GC etc? Currently it tells me I have 852 days to go before I can apply for citizenship! :)

yeah, i think it is sad  the same sadness as me writing small web page to track of how long me and other have been ignored for.

I would distribute my little program like you are, but sadly it contains components that are currently restricted by ITAR. :o

a time tracking system falls under itar??? i hope ur joking

  7. that is a BAD cartman!

All "bad Cartman" wants is to get his interview letter. he was very happy two days ago when he got his EAD email approval, especially that he will be finishing grad school in may; so good timing for job applications.

impatient cartman now wants to know when his interview is going to be so that he can stop waiting on the mail man everyday to see if he is bringing the interview letter. the mail man probably thinks cartman likes him or something...lol

  8. well right now you can only click on a start date and it gives you through today. what if i want to calculate with smt like a start date of 1/1/06 to 12/7/06 vs. through today?

ok, here you go. let me know if this is what you were thinking of

    http://skynrd.net/time2

I will keep the other one as well

the only thing with this one is you have to select the starting date and the end date or else it would give you the wrong result

  9. Congrats Hanster :dance::dance::dance: I myself just got touched on EAD, and hope to get the approval email tomorrow like you. hehe BTW, do you think I can start working just to show this email to the employer?

i hope u get urs tomorrow. you wait and see how happy you will be when you get the email. both my wife and I were thrilled and she started thinking about what horse she is gonna buy with my first check. lol

as for starting work with just showing the email to the employer, i am not too sure about it, but i read on VJ that people usually receive the card in 5 days of receiving the email, so if you could wait these 5 days i would since you will never know if there would be an error on the EAD card and you would have to request another one or not. in addition, i am not sure if an employer would accept the email as proof of work eligibility.

if you are urgent about getting the job tomorrow, you can see if the employer will accept it.

i had a job interview today and i told the employer that i got a touch last night and that most likely i will be getting the card this week or next and he was fine with it. the only thing is the job does not start till may and i do not know if i got the job or not. lol

ohhh i know that in previous years it was a lot worse.

it just sucks sometimes to see people that filed after you receive their green card even before you get your interview notice.

  11. i guess my answer would be you cannot follow what other district offices are doing to gage how yours should be. the AOS process is pretty much all opver the board and 73 days isn't so bad. it would be nice for me also to get a touch or ANYTHING, ya know so many people celebrating, I want to be done as well.

just give it a bit more time. it seems as a result of CSC local offices are also speeding up. good luck!

"ya know so many people celebrating, I want to be done as well. "

that's how i exactly feel. It is sad by was dancing from joy yesterday because i got a touch on my EAD after 41 days of no activity. i know that touches are no reason to celebrate but they kinda take me out of the depressing long with no activity wait.
